For years, when we held a camera to take video, whether it was a camcorder or when we were introduced to iPhones in 2007, we all held our phones in horizontal mode.  Basically sideways.  Today with the ever growing trends of sharing video on social media, such as Instagram’s Reels and Tiktok, when should you shoot video in portrait or most commonly known as vertical mode?

This episode will touch on the differences between horizontal vs vertical video formats, when to shoot in them, and tips for shooting video in formats that can be used for both social media and for widely popular horizontal video services such as YouTube.
