
This episode covers the second part of the pre-recorded webinar on the interlinks of design thinking and coaching.
In this episode we shall take a deeper dive into each of the five phases of design thinking and unpack what transpires with the client as we apply each of these Phases in coaching:
Phase one “Empathy” exploring with no judgment
Phase Two “Define”, supporting the client to gain a clearer self-awareness as to what they truly need.
Phase three “ Ideation” supports the client to become more creative and realize the unseen potential.
Phase Four is “Prototyping” it is where coaches support clients to crystalize the options and have better visibility of what is available for them.
Last but not least comes Phase 5 “ Testing” in this phase, the coach supports the client to assess how feasible and viable the selected option is and how truly committed the client is to follow through with their commitment.
We shall explore how each phase feeds into the other. “Empathy” is the platform for building an authentic relationship with the client and prepares the grounds for the second phase “Define”. We explored how defining what the client really needs supports the client to be focused and ready to explore from heightened awareness and open the door for phases 3 & 4 “Ideation & prototyping”.
"Ideation" is creating ideas and options to maximize the potential for the client; "prototyping" being crystallizing those options and bringing them to life for the client to see what is best serving them; This will all funnel to step 5 supporting the clients to "test" their choices based on how would this choice allow them to honor what they truly value, how will they show up differently and most importantly how much committed are they to follow through with it.
