My Maritime Podcast Preview or, What I learned About Podcasting While Travelling

My Maritime Podcast Preview or, What I learned About Podcasting While Travelling
It's been an eventful three weeks on my end, and a long time coming: hitting the road again for a proper road trip, in this case to Canada's Maritime provinces: New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.   It was also a first ever proper family trip for my wife and I, a couple vacations to Cuban resorts notwithstanding, but we finally had the chance to be real travellers and bring our kids (4 & 6 years old) on a good adventure.   Canada's east coast is within a day's drive of where we live, in Québec, and an inviting destination with lots to learn and discover. We knew the September weather would be (mostly) beautiful, prices would be a bit better and crowds would be smaller. We didn't expect to be hit by a hurricane, but we rode that out too. You'll hear all about it in today's episode.   I was also in pursuit of a particular theme: exploring Acadia, and the history of French settlement in what are now English provinces but which started off, in the European age, as very much French. 150 years of French colonization though ended with the Acadian diaspora, le Grand dérangement, where Acadians throughout present-day NB, PEI and NS were kicked off their land by the British and sent to virtually all corners of the Earth. Some trickled back in the decades that followed, and rebuilt their society through fierce independence and pride, surrounded by a sea of English.   There are pockets of Acadia throughout the Maritimes, and our trip ended up touching on most of them. It's given me some great ideas and inspiration for a podcast mini-series on travel to Canada's east coast, a mix of history and modern travel planning, and something that I'll be putting together over the coming weeks. Today's episode is a preview of what's to come.   But of course, I also learned about travel podcasting while travelling, something we've certainly talked about a lot on this show, but which I have a much better appreciation for now. It takes a lot of planning and logistics, perseverance and commitment, and often that can get in the way of a family vacation or daily sightseeing.   Most travel podcasters take their notes and observations, then record and put it together when they get back home. That's what I'll be doing, and there is a lot less stress for sure. But we'll continue on this show to pursue understanding how to capture that live feel and ambience while you're out there, if at all possible, and to try to add some dynamic soundscapes to your travel podcast. There's lots of potential to let your creativity take flight.     Travel Podcast the World   https://www.travelpodcasttheworld.com https://twitter.com/TedFlyTed https://www.instagram.com/travel_podcast_theworld/ Submit Your Podcast form  Suggest a Podcast form     Places   Alma, New Brunswick   Maximeville, Prince Edward Island   Chèticamp, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia   Truro, Nova Scotia   Comeauville, Nova Scotia   OqWHp2bsumTFE7EoKbEH
