I think it's time we start having meaningful discussions. It's time to get curious. To extend compassion to what (who) triggers us, rather than going on the attack or the defensive. It's time we get to the root of these conflicts so we can create real change rather than the growing divisiveness we've been seeing.
-
Why is call out culture just as bad? Because it doesn't give people a chance to learn from their mistakes. 99% of us are doing the best we can. We want to do better and we want to be better. But when we are called out and ridiculed, we are being publicly shamed and that leads to us either shutting down or jumping right into defensiveness. In either case, there is no learning, no chance for growth. It entrenches both the accuser and the accused in their own respective camps to protect the egos.
-
So it's time to be brave and learn healthy ways to point out flawed logic, or blindspots but then offer connection, and the chance for growth. Shutting people down for their actions doesn't create positive change. At best it just slows the flow. Usually though, the real problem makers continue unaffected and the people with the desire to make real positive change are left shamed and stuck.

It's time we start offering solutions to the world's problems rather than stop signs. Let's show how we can move forward in more responsible ways rather than just trying to halt things. The world doesn't stop turning. We can never just "stop." But we can find ways to move forward in better, more productive ways. If we truly want progress, this must become our reality.
