Welcome back to another episode of Unloaded & Uncovered w/Magda Desir.
This week, I had an incredible conversation with Patty Cabot, a published author who has turned her pain into profound power.
We dived deep into the transformative world of meditation and its connection with the universe, exploring how meditation can enhance your running experience and help address trauma. Patty shared her journey of discovering meditation, different approaches to it, and how it can change your mindset. We discussed the physical effects of trauma, the importance of releasing trapped emotions, and the process of learning to feel and name emotions.
Patty opened up about dealing with anger, twisted boundaries, expressing feelings, and setting healthy boundaries. We also talked about changing relationships, overcoming the fear of intimacy, and navigating relationships with men. The conversation emphasized the importance of consent and boundaries, and we delved into her experience of writing a memoir and sharing valuable resources.
Here's a little about Patty Cabot: Beginning in her teens, Patty battled drastic weight fluctuations, thinking it was what prevented her from meeting men. In her late 30s, she embarked on a therapeutic journey that led her to confront her unresolved childhood sexual abuse. Over 12 years, she worked with a therapist and explored various therapies like EMDR, chiropractic care, sex therapy, and group therapy for sexual abuse survivors. Her memoir, Not That Girl Anymore, details these alternative therapies and her journey to reclaim the happiness she and others struggling with trauma deserve.
Tune in this Friday for an episode filled with insights, inspiration, and powerful stories of transformation. You won't want to miss it!
