The Japanese “pink films” of the 60s, 70s, and 80s were part lurid exploitation flicks and part transgressive art films, like arthouse video nasties. We tackle two of its most provocative touchstones: Koji Wakamatsu's true-crime inspired VIOLATED ANGELS and Hisayasu Sato's gay sadomasochistic love story MUSCLE.
