We talk deep dives into any and all the subjects we research for the podcast. We tend to focus more on artists that dug deeper into the work and themselves in what they offered to the world. We tell stories of everyday people, visionaries, and outsiders. We also present histories of the past to help navigate the present. We present a unique form of interview, conversation, and storytelling in an organic manner and focus on art, culture, music, film, and more. Hosted by: 1) Rich Wexler, founder and curator of the @vintageannalsarchive Instagram Based in beautiful West Philadelphia.

Ep. 180: Michael Hitchcock (Actor/Writer/Producer)

From his critically acclaimed roles in film and television to his award-winning work as a writer and producer, Michael Hitchcock has been an industry standout for over 30 years.

Michael currently recurs in Sterlin Harjo’s highly celebrated FX/Hulu series “The Lowdown” starring Ethan Hawke and a rogue’s gallery of outstanding talent including Kyle MacLaughlin, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Keith David, Ryan Kieran Armstrong, Timothy Blake Nelson, Killer Mike, and Peter Dinklage. Hitchcock plays Hawke’s friend “Ray,” a Tulsa antique dealer who often helps Hawke in his passionate quests to expose perceived corruption.

Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter writes, “For most of the supporting cast, excellence is just a matter of opportunity… Hitchcock seems like he’s just there to steal a scene or two, but the third episode, in which Ray, Lee and Francis go on a mission, he’s funny and briefly, beautifully sad.”

Michael is also currently featured on the hit Netflix comedy series “Nobody Wants This” starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. Hitchcock plays “Henry,” a newly out-of-the-closet father to Bell and Justine Lupe, doing his best to make up for lost time after being emotionally absent in the past.

Additional television acting credits include “The Paper,” “Palm Royale,” “The Resort,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Black Monday,” “Space Force,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Trial & Error,” “Veep,” “Glee,” “United States of Tara,” “Men of a Certain Age,” “Party Down,” “The League,” “Pushing Daisies,” and “Arrested Development.”

Film credits include Christopher Guest’s renowned comedies including “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind,” “For Your Consideration,” “Mascots,” and “Waiting for Guffman.”

Other film credits include “Bridesmaids,” “Jackpot!,” “Your Place or Mine,” “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” “Reunion,” “EXmas,” “Super 8,” “Wild Hogs,” “Smiley Face,” “Heartbreakers,” and “Serenity.” The New York Times includes the “Best in Show” and “Bridesmaids” as two of “The Best 100 Movies of the 21st Century.”

Writing and producing credits include the television series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” starring Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom. He was previously a Co-Executive Producer and writer on the multi-award-winning series “Glee.”

Additional writing credits include the films “Where the Day Takes You,” “House Arrest,” and Disney’s “The Ultimate Christmas Present.” Hitchcock also performed both writing and producing duties on the comedy series “MAD TV,” nominated three times by the Writers Guild of America for “Outstanding Writing of a Comedy/Variety Series.”

Born in Defiance, Ohio, and later raised in Western Springs, Illinois, Hitchcock received his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

He is an alumnus of the Los Angeles comedy and improvisational troupe The Groundlings, and also tours with the improv troupe Theme Park. In addition, he has performed comedy improv for the U.S. troops with Stars for Stripes in Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Africa, Honduras, and Cuba.
