Volusia County has introduced a new Emergency Management app to enhance communication during emergencies like hurricanes and wildfires; it’s available for download on both the App Store and Google Play. In recognition of its commitment to high-quality care, Volusia County EMS has received a 2024 Mission: Lifeline bronze achievement award from the American Heart Association for its efforts in treating severe heart attacks and strokes. The county will host the International Coastal Cleanup, on September 21, from 8 to 11 a.m., inviting residents to help clean up over 20 sites along the beach, Halifax River, and Indian River—register by September 8 to get involved. DeBary Hall calls on kids in grades 1-5 to join the ECHO Rangers program, which offers a fun and educational exploration of the county’s ecological, cultural, and outdoor resources. Lastly, changes to animal licensing requirements are on the way, with a free pet microchipping event scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, August 5. Avelo Airlines is set to launch a new nonstop service between Daytona Beach International Airport and Hartford’s Bradley International Airport starting November 8, 2024, with flights operating twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays.
