🎙️ Episode Overview
In this episode of Walk With Me, Brother, Robb Pollard sits down with nonprofit founder, storyteller, and advocate for service Heidi Johnson for a powerful conversation about grief, purpose, and healing through service.
Heidi grew up in a close-knit Irish Catholic family where giving back was simply part of daily life. But everything changed in 2002, when a tragic accident took the lives of her mother and close family friends, and nearly claimed her father’s life.
That moment became a turning point.
In the midst of overwhelming grief, Heidi discovered that joy and sorrow can coexist, and that service can become a lifeline when pain has nowhere else to go. What followed was the founding of Spiritual Care Guild, a nonprofit that now provides 24/7 multi-faith chaplain support at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and has helped redefine hospital chaplaincy nationwide.
Heidi also shares why she intentionally stepped away from the organization she built, how she went on to create Charity Matters, lead TASK, and why helping others has been central to her healing, clarity, and purpose.
This episode is about what happens after loss, and how even one small act of kindness can begin to shift everything.
If you are carrying grief, searching for meaning, or feeling stuck in pain, this conversation will meet you where you are.
