Drew Fryer & Jimbo Fitzgerald - What makes a good running coach? Launching the Eastern Suburbs Project

Welcome to another episode of the Wave Running Podcast! Please don't forget to rate it 5 stars and chuck a follow on Instagram @waverunningpodcast https://www.instagram.com/waverunningpodcast/

It was an absolute pleasure to have Drew Fryer and Jimbo Fitzgerald, two very accomplished running coaches to share their expertise and the importance of good communication and people skills to develop a good athlete-coach relationship. We also briefly touch on their vision with their new Eastern Suburbs Project
It was an awesome chat, so good that we ended up having a further 40 minute chat off camera afterwards (which probably could have been another episode in itself)! Drew Fryer was named the Sport NSW Young Coach of the Year in 2021 and Jimbo Fitzgerald has coached all disciplines of Athletics to either a national or Olympic level, while also working with many juniors and still having never had a junior athlete with a bone stress injury ever, which shows that he truly believes in longevity and sustainability when training to be a great runner. He has coached the likes of Jenny Blundell and Milly Clark up to the Olympics, so you'll definitely learn a thing or two from this episode!
