Chosen because it features the 8th century epic poem Beowulf, a gripping tale of death and heroism (the story in a nutshell: Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, has been having a spot of bother with a monster (called Grendel) which has been visiting Hrothgar’s mead hall every evening and slaughtering (and eating) a number of men. The hero, Beowulf, comes to Hrothgar’s aid and slays the monster — but then has Grendel's mother to deal with … and then there’s a dragon).
