20: The Importance of Teaching our Girls About Their Bodies
  • In this episode, Sarah sits down with Dr. Tara Berner to discuss the importance of educating young women about their biology: their cycles, their hormonal health, and their anatomy. They emphasize the need for parents to have these conversations with their children and encourage seeing the discussion of these topics as a series of conversations, not just as "the talk." Together, they discuss why technology cannot replace the role of a trusted adult and also highlight the significance of understanding how hormonal changes affect a woman's mental health. At the end of this episode, they suggest resources for parents to navigate these topics with their children.
    Other highlights from this episode:
  • How understanding female anatomy is empowering for women and those that love them.
  • That teaching women to track their cycles can enhance awareness of overall health and well-being.
  • That nutrition and lifestyle choices significantly impact hormonal health.
  • The value of parents actively engaging in discussions about health with their children.
  • The power of technology and how to approach the digital world with young children.
  • The value of normalizing conversations about our bodies.
