
What is an attachment style?
Our attachment style affects the way we interact in the relationships we have based on our own beliefs, perceptions and how we process our feelings and emotions based on our upbringing and life’s experiences. It’s important for us to be able to identify our attachment style so we are capable of engaging in healthy reciprocal lasting relationships.
What are the 4 attachment styles?
According to the attachment style theory, there are four types of attachment styles:
• secure.
• avoidant (aka dismissive, or anxious-avoidant in children)
• anxious (aka preoccupied, or anxious-ambivalent in children)
• disorganized (aka fearful-avoidant in children)
