The Women In Radiology Education, or WIRED, podcast was created with our group’s mission in mind: empowering, supporting, and inspiring women. We intend to interview women in all stages of the path to a career in radiology—young ladies interested in STEM, medical students, residents, academic attendings, and community practitioners—and share their insight and wisdom with our listeners in hopes of ultimately reducing the overall disparity regarding women in radiology.

The WIRED Podcast: Dr. Stefanie A. Woodard, D.O.

Dr. Stefanie Woodard is a breast imaging specialist and attending radiologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She completed her medical training at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a residency and fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Hershey Breast Center, respectively. Currently, she serves as the Director of the Breast Imaging Resident Rotation and Director of Breast MRI at UABMC, and has been involved in several academic and mentorship roles, including serving on committees such as the RSNA Abstract Review and the SBI Mentorship Subcommittee. In this episode, Dr. Woodard shares insights into her journey from private practice to academia, her innovative research on virtual reality for breast biopsy simulations, and her leadership in radiology mentorship. Tune in to learn more about her work, her advice for women in radiology, and the challenges and opportunities in breast imaging.
