Wisdom Through Bitcoin:S1E6: How to Self Custody Bitcoin to secure your wealth w/ Tyler Campbell

While Altcoin exchanges and crypto hedge funds like 3 Arrows Capital, Alameda Capital, Celsius, Voyager, Blockfi, Genesis, and many others are blowing up all over the industry, people with their Bitcoin in self custody are sitting back and watching the fireworks.  If you are interested in learning more about how to self custody your Bitcoin and how it can help you secure your financial future, then this episode is for you.  Tyler is an amazing resource in the Bitcoin space and has helped 100's of people secure their Bitcoin safely and easily.  There is a very important saying in Bitcoin, "Not your keys, Not your Bitcoin."  Tyler helps us understand why this simple concept can product your financial future and help you become a more self sovereign individual.

Tyler works for Unchained Capital. One of the premier Bitcoin only companies it the space.  They specialize in helping people just like you secure your Bitcoin for savings and daily use.  His current position is the VP of Concierge. His background working for a blockchain company helped him learn about Bitcoin and the ins and outs of the protocol.  But even he will tell you, "It's Bitcoin not Blockchain."  And it's "Bitcoin not Crypto."

Our conversation covers everything from what is the difference between cold storage wallet and hot wallets to understanding the importance of controlling your private keys and passing on Bitcoin to your heirs.  I really enjoyed talking with Tyler and I learned a lot about self custody.  I hope you enjoy our conversation and get a lot of good usable information out of it.

Most people that begin buying Bitcoin go through the same evolutionary process that ultimately leads to self custody.  That journey looks something like this:

1. Decide you want to own Bitcoin.

2. Settle on an exchange you want to buy it from.

3. Buy Bitcoin.

4. Leave Bitcoin on an exchange then realize it's not safe there.

5. Send Bitcoin to a "Hot Wallet," then realize it's not totally save their either.

6. Send Bitcoin to a "Cold Storage Wallet."

7. Set up advanced security for your Bitcoin through Multisig

8. Dollar Cost Average (DCA) into a larger position of Bitcoin

9. Help others learn what you've learned

10. Sit back and relax knowing your Bitcoin is safe from theft or loss.

Thank you so much Tyler for coming on the show and sharing your wisdom with me and the audience.  You are doing Satoshi's work and it is obvious how passionate you are about Bitcoin and educating others.
