This is a Christmas Series. Advent means waiting for the coming of Christ. It is defined by hope, waiting, anticipation, patience, etc. There is plenty of OT references on waiting for the Messiah to come and bring salvation to God’s people. In fact, most of the things about Christ’s coming had been pronounced by the prophets. It is wise to trace those references for fuller understanding of Advent of Christ. Let us find as much as those images, inspired Prophetic imaginations in the Bible to understand the meaning of Christ’s coming. OT Prophecies gave hope of Messiah coming. Christ came and promised us the Holy Spirit, himself present in the church (world). Since creation, God had a purpose “to fill the earth with the knowledge of his Glory (Isaiah 11:9/Hab 2:14). Through his Spirit, God is working that purpose out thoroughly. We may not see it all in daily lives, but God is intent/active. It’s the eyes , hearts and the minds that can see and perceive it that can comprehend God and his mission in the world. In Christmas time we are invited to see that afresh, understand why Messiah came into the world. Why we have the real Hope, Peace, Joy and Love because we have Christ with us-Immanuel.
