Welcome to the St. Clair College Women in STEM speaker series Podcast! I am your host, Sue Taylor, and I am the Program Manager of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Student Experience of the Genesis Entrepreneurship Centre, located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

The Women in STEM club was founded in 2021 to fill a need to support female students at the College in male-dominated programs. For those who are unfamiliar, the acronym STEM stands for Science - Technology – Engineering, and Math, which more recently adapted to include Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing.

Within the STEM Club we have students ranging from all different programs across the College. Students from, civil engineering, mobile app development, millwright, heating refrigeration and air conditioning, data analytics, biomedical engineering, robotics, powerline technician, policing, construction management, and the list goes on and on!

The St Clair College, Women in STEM club offers support, mentorship, networking events and opportunities, capstone projects, as well as guest speakers. Our goal is to support and foster these women and show them that they can accomplish all they set out to achieve (and then some).

This speaker series was developed to host what I like to refer to as “STEM Champions”. Women who have excelled in male-dominated industries and environments. Women who are leaders, and women that serve to inspire, and act as role models and mentors to these young women.

This includes interviews with guests such as Windsor’s first-ever female Chief of Police, an Electrical Engineer, a Machinist, a three-time Olympic athlete, an award-winning Director/Producer, a female pilot, a forensic explosives chemist from the RCMP bomb squad, a cancer researcher, and many more inspiring women.
