Though it uses Christian vocabulary, Dr. Bern Zumpano argues it lacks biblical substance.Size & Reach SDA has millions of members, tens of thousands of churches, publishing houses, schools, hospitals, and global media outlets, making its influence significant.Origins & Authority Founded by William Miller after failed prophecies of Christ’s return in 1844 (“Great Disappointment”), the movement gained momentum under Ellen G. White, considered an inspired prophetess. Between 1845–1915, she claimed over 2,000 visions and authored 54 books, which—alongside the Bible—form SDA’s doctrinal foundation.
