Tama zoo in Tokyo
少し前ですが、東京の多摩動物園という、
とても大きな動物園に行きました。
東京では上野動物園が有名ですが、多摩動物園は上野より4倍広く、
面積は52ヘクタールだそうです。
上野にはいない動物がたくさん見れるのですが、
初めて見るコアラが可愛すぎて感動しました！
都心から少し遠いですが、皆さんもぜひ行ってみてください。
すこし まえですが、とうきょうの たま どうぶつえんという、
とても おおきな どうぶつえんに いきました。
とうきょうでは うえの どうぶつえんが ゆうめいですが、
たま どうぶつえんは うえのより よんばい ひろく、
めんせきは ごじゅうに へくたーる だそうです。
うえのには いない どうぶつが たくさん みれるのですが、
はじめて みる こあらが かわいすぎて かんどうしました！
としんから すこし とおいですが、みなさんも ぜひ いってみてください。
A little while ago, I visited Tama Zoo in Tokyo, a very large zoo.
Ueno Zoo is famous in Tokyo, but Tama Zoo is four times larger than Ueno,
covering an area of 52 hectares.
You can see many animals not found at Ueno,
and seeing a koala for the first time was so adorable that I was impressed!
It's a bit far from the city center, but I highly recommend visiting there.

I took FLPT!
日曜日にフランス語検定を受けてきました！
試験を受けたのが5年ぶりくらいだったので
緊張しましたが、多分合格できたと思います。
当日まで毎日「勉強しなきゃ」と思うのは
正直ちょっとしんどかったですが😂、
目標があるのは楽しいなと、久しぶりに感じました。
JLPTを受ける皆さん、あと少し頑張ってくださいね！
にちようびに ふらんすご けんていを うけてきました！
しけんを うけたのが ごねんぶり くらい だったので
きんちょうしましたが、たぶん ごうかくできたと おもいます。
とうじつまで まいにち「べんきょうしなきゃ」とおもうのは
しょうじき ちょっと しんどかったですが、
もくひょうが あるのは たのしいなと、ひさしぶりに かんじました。

I took the French proficiency test on Sunday!
It had been about five years since my last exam,
so I was nervous, but I think I probably passed.
Honestly, it was a bit exhausting thinking “I have to study”
every day until the day of the test,
but it felt good to have a goal again after so long.

Year-end cleaning
まだ少し早いですが、年末が近づくと
多くの日本人が悩むのが、大掃除だと思います。
毎年あまりできないまま大晦日になってしまうので、
今年こそはリストを作って、少しずつ大掃除をしていきたいです。
といっても、少なくとも換気扇だけできればいいかなと思っているのが
本音です😂
皆さんは、年末に大掃除をしますか？
まだ すこし はやいですが、ねんまつが ちかづくと
おおくの にほんじんが なやむのが、おおそうじだと おもいます。
まいとし あまり できないまま おおみそかに なってしまうので、
ことしこそは りすとを つくって、すこしずつ おおそうじを していきたいです。
といっても、すくなくとも かんきせんだけ できれば いいかなと
おもっているのが ほんねです。
みなさんは、ねんまつに おおそうじをしますか？
It's still a bit early, but as the end of the year approaches,
I think many Japanese people struggle with the year-end cleaning.
Every year, I end up not getting much done until New Year's Eve,
so this year, I really want to make a list and tackle the cleaning bit by bit.
But I'm thinking that if I can at least clean the range hood,
that'd be good enough. That’s my honest feeling.

Masculine and feminine nouns
今フランス語を勉強しているのですが、
日本語にはない概念なので、女性名詞と男性名詞に苦戦しています。
中性名詞がある言語もあると思うのですが、その言語を話す方達は、何十万個もある名詞の性がすぐにわかるのかなあと、いつも不思議に思います。
でも、そういう新しい発見が、言語を学ぶ楽しさの一つなのかもしれません。
いま ふらんすごを べんきょう しているのですが、にほんごには ない がいねんなので、じょせい めいしと だんせい めいしに くせんしています。
ちゅうせい めいしが ある げんごも あると おもうのですが、その げんごを はなす かたたちは、なんじゅうまんこも ある めいしの せいが すぐに わかるのかなあと いつも ふしぎに おもいます。
でも そういう あたらしい はっけんが、げんごを まなぶ たのしさの ひとつ なのかもしれません。
I've been learning French,
and I'm struggling with feminine and masculine nouns because it's a concept that doesn't exist in Japanese.
Some languages even have neuter nouns, and I always wonder if speakers of those languages can instantly tell the gender of hundreds of thousands of nouns.
But discovering things like this might be one of the joys of learning a language.

“You-kya” diplomacy?!
日本の総理大臣、高市さんのコミュ力が、今日本で話題になっています。
総理大臣になってからすぐに、外国との会談を問題なくこなし、
その外交は「陽キャ外交」とも言われています。
高市首相のファッションや持ち物を真似する「サナ活」も話題です。
今までの総理大臣にはなかった人気なので、これからが楽しみです。

Two months to go!
今年もあと2ヶ月になりましたが、
この時期になるとソワソワしてしまうのは、私だけでしょうか。
あれもできてない、これもできてない、と思ってしまって、
つい焦ってしまうので、毎日を全力で生きようと思っています。
皆さんは、何か今年中に絶対終わらせたいことがありますか？
ことしも あと にかげつに なりましたが、
この じきに なると そわそわしてしまうのは、わたしだけでしょうか。
あれも できてない、これも できてない、とおもってしまって、
つい あせってしまうので、まいにちを ぜんりょくで いきようと おもっています。

Bear attacks in Japan
皆さんももうご存知かもしれませんが、
最近日本では、熊に人が襲われる問題がたくさん起きています。
山の食べ物が少なくなったのが原因、というわけではないそうです。
人が住んでいるところには、好物の柿の木などがあるということを
熊が覚えてしまって、山から降りてきているという理由もあるそうです。
京都の嵐山の近くにも出たそうなので、皆さんも山の近くを観光するときには
気をつけてください。
みなさんも もう ごぞんじかも しれませんが、
さいきん にほんでは、くまに ひとが おそわれる もんだいが
たくさん おきています。
やまの たべものが すくなくなったのが げんいん、というわけでは ないそうです。
ひとが すんでいるところには、こうぶつの かきの き などが あるということを
くまが おぼえてしまって、やまから おりてきている という りゆうも あるそうです。
きょうとの あらしやまの ちかくにも でたそうなので、
みなさんも やまの ちかくを かんこうするときには
きをつけてください。

Bears have learned that areas where people live have their favorite foods, like persimmon trees, and are coming down from the mountains for that reason.
They've even been spotted near Arashiyama in Kyoto,
so please be very careful when you go sightseeing near mountains.

Ride sharing in Tokyo
最近、東京の一部のエリアに、
「Go shuttle」というタクシーが走っています。
簡単に言うと、バスのような乗り方ができるタクシーで、
バスが決まった時間にバス停に来るように、
決まった時間と決まった場所にタクシーが来てくれます。
全然知らない人と一緒の車になる可能性はあるのですが、
タクシーの半額くらいで移動ができるそうです。
さいきん、とうきょうの いちぶの えりあで、
「Go shuttle」という たくしーが はしっています。
かんたんに いうと、ばすのような のりかたが できる たくしーで、
ばすが きまった じかんに ばすていに くるように、
きまったじかんと きまったばしょに たくしーが きてくれます。
ぜんぜん しらないひとと いっしょの くるまに なる かのうせいは あるのですが、
たくしーの はんがく くらいで いどうが できるそうです。

Have you heard of Makanai?
「まかない」という言葉を聞いたことがありますか？
レストランやカフェなどで働いている人たちが、無料もしくは安く食べれる、
そのお店のご飯のことです。
大学生のとき、まかないを目当てに、
焼き鳥屋さんでバイトしていたことがありました😂
日本では、新人のシェフが練習するためや、
スタッフが料理を説明するときのためなどの
理由でまかないが出るお店が多いです。
皆さんの国ではどうですか？
「まかない」という ことばを きいたことがありますか？
れすとらんや かふぇなどで はたらいている ひとたちが、むりょう もしくは
やすく たべれる、その おみせの ごはんのことです。
だいがくせいのとき、まかないを めあてに、やきとりやさんで
ばいとしていたことが ありました。
にほんでは、しんじんの しぇふが れんしゅうするためや、すたっふが
りょうりを せつめいするときの ためなどの りゆうで まかないが でる
おみせが おおいです。

It refers to the food provided to people working at restaurants or cafes,
which they can eat for free or at a discount.
Back in college, I once worked part-time at a yakitori restaurant
for meals for employees.
In Japan, many restaurants offer those meals for reasons
like letting new chefs practice or for staff to learn how to explain dishes.

Have you heard of Kirakira name?
キラキラネームという言葉を聞いたことがありますか？
とても簡単に言うと、日本らしくない変わった名前のことです。
今年法律が変わって、キラキラネームがつけにくくなると言われています。
名前は自由だと思いますが、あまりにも変わった名前だと大人になったときに
その子が嫌じゃないのかなと思うことがあったので、
法律が変わったと聞いて少し安心しました。
きらきらねーむ という ことばを きいたことが ありますか？
とても かんたんに いうと、にほんらしくない かわった なまえのことです。
ことし ほうりつが かわって、きらきらねーむが つけにくくなる といわれています。
なまえは じゆうだと おもいますが、あまりにも かわった なまえだと
おとなに なったときに そのこが いやじゃないのかなと おもうことが あったので、
ほうりつが かわったと きいて すこし あんしんしました。

~ Kouchi trip 5/5 “The best bonito I’ve ever had!” ~
高知県にはおいしい物がたくさんあるのですが、
一番有名なのは「かつおのたたき」です。
切ったかつおの表面を、藁で少し焼いてからスライスして、
ネギやにんにくなどをたっぷりとかけてポン酢で食べます。
高知で食べたかつおのたたきは、人生で一番美味しかったです。
皆さんもぜひ食べてみてください！
こうちけんには おいしいものが たくさん あるのですが、
いちばん ゆうめいなのは「かつおの たたき」です。
きった かつおの ひょうめんを、わらで すこし やいてから すらいすして、
ねぎや にんにくなどを たっぷりと かけて ぽんずで たべます。
こうちで たべた かつおの たたきは、じんせいで いちばん おいしかったです。
みなさんも ぜひ たべてみてください！
Kochi Prefecture has many delicious foods,
but the most famous one is “katsuo no tataki. (Sliced torched bonito)”
They lightly sear a hunk of bonito over straw and slice it thin,
then generously top with green onions and sliced garlic
and eat it with ponzu sauce (citrus juice + soy sauce).
The katsuo no tataki I ate in Kochi was the most delicious
I've ever had in my life. Everyone should definitely try it:)

※ たたく means like to hit, to beat.
They used to tap torched bonito with hands or
chopsticks so the bonito would soak up the sauce well.
They don’t do it anymore but that’s because it’s called たたき.
※ I highly recommend visiting Hirome ichiba, there is a lot of food stalls
and you can buy food and drinks from different stalls and enjoy them
at one of the many large tables set up around the market.
Kochi people are known that they drink a lot, and you would see that there.
It’s a very fun place to visit!

~ Kouchi trip 4/5 “Niyodo blue” ~
高知県は、水がとてもきれいな川が多いことでも有名です。
その川の色は「仁淀ブルー」と呼ばれていて、名前の通り
川の色が透き通った青色をしています。
私は仁淀川というところに行って、透明なカヌーで息子と川下りをしました。
暖かい時期は藻が多いので、本当の仁淀ブルーが見れるのは冬らしいのですが、
それでも、見たことがないくらいきれいな川でした。
こうちけんは、みずが とても きれいな かわが おおいことでも ゆうめいです。
その かわの いろは「によど ぶるー」とよばれていて、なまえの とおり
かわの いろが すきとおった あおいろを しています。
わたしは によどがわ という ところに いって、
とうめいな かぬーで むすこと かわくだりを しました。
あたたかい じきは もが おおいので、
ほんとうの によど ぶるーが みれるのは ふゆらしいのですが、
それでも、みたことがないくらい きれいな かわでした。
Kochi Prefecture is also famous for its many rivers with exceptionally clear water.
The color of these rivers is called “Niyodo Blue,” and true to its name,
the river water is a transparent blue.
I went to a place called the Niyodo River and went canoeing down the river
with my son in a transparent canoe.
Apparently, the real Niyodo Blue can only be seen in winter
because there's a lot of algae during warmer seasons,
but even so, it was the most beautiful river I'd ever seen.

What you would find when you google “Niyodo blue”,
it’s the place called “にこ淵/ Niko buchi”.
Unfortunately I couldn’t go there,
but I went to the upstream of the Niyodo river.
At “Niyodo gawa river outdoor center”,
you can join a canoeing tour and they take photos
and videos using a drone for you!
The view was stunning.

~ Kouchi trip 3/5 “Kouchi jou castle” ~
高知市には、街のど真ん中に高知城という立派なお城が建っています。
約300年前に建てられたお城が昔のまま残っている、
珍しいお城です。
城の中には、敵と戦うための工夫がいくつもあって、
敵に上から石や熱湯を落とすための「石落とし」、
忍者が壁を登れないようにするための「忍び返し」などがあります。
皆さんは、日本のお城に行ったことがありますか？
こうちしには、まちの どまんなかに こうちじょう という
りっぱな おしろが たっています。
やく さんびゃくねんまえに たてられた おしろが むかしのまま
のこっている、めずらしい おしろです。
しろの なかには、てきと たたかうための くふうが いくつも あって、
てきに うえから いしや ねっとうを おとすための「いしおとし」、
にんじゃが かべを のぼれないように するための「しのびがえし」などがあります。
みなさんは、にほんの おしろに いったことがありますか？
Right in the middle of Kochi City, there is a castle called Castle.
Built about 300 years ago, it's a rare castle that remains
largely unchanged from its original form.
Inside the castle, you'll find several creative features designed
to repel enemies, such as the “stone drop” mechanism
for throwing stones or boiling water down on attackers,
and the “climb-proof wall” to prevent ninjas from scaling the walls.

~ Kouchi trip 2/5 “Katsura-hama beach” ~
高知県は、坂本龍馬の出身地としてとても有名です。
坂本龍馬は、日本を大きく変えた人の一人で、
外国に負けない新しい時代を始めるために、
誰の血も流さず、話し合いで江戸時代を終わらせたと言われています。
龍馬が愛した高知県の桂浜というところには、大きな銅像が立っていて、
高知の名物になっています。
こうちけんは、さかもと りょうまの しゅっしんち として とても ゆうめいです。
さかもと りょうまは、にほんを おおきく かえた ひとの ひとりで、
がいこくに まけない あたらしい じだいを はじめるために、
だれの ちも ながさず、はなしあいで えど じだいを おわらせた といわれています。
りょうまが あいした こうちけんの かつらはま という ところには、
おおきな どうぞうが たっていて、こうちの めいぶつに なっています。
Kochi Prefecture is very famous as the birthplace of Sakamoto Ryoma.
Sakamoto Ryoma was one of the people who greatly changed Japan.
It is said that he ended the Edo period bloodless, through discussion
in order to start a new era that could stand up to foreign powers.
At Katsurahama Beach in Kochi Prefecture, which Ryoma loved,
there is a large bronze statue of him
and it’s become a famous landmark of Kochi.

At that time, Edo government was getting weaker and didn’t have
a power to stand up to foreign countries.
People thought that they couldn’t protect Japan,
so they started to advocate for returning the power to the Imperial court
(That’s called Taisei houkan)and Ryouma was one of them.
Finally they succeeded in Taisei houkan, but one month later,
Ryouma was killed.

先週、3泊4日で高知に旅行に行きました。
高知県は、四国にある県なのですが、
四国は台風が多いので、川がよく氾濫します。
そのため、水で橋が壊れないよう、橋の手すりがない
沈下橋という橋がいくつかあります。
水が透き通るとてもきれいな川と、珍しい橋の景色がとてもきれいです。
今日から5日間は、高知で行った有名な場所をご紹介します。
せんしゅう、さんぱく よっかで こうちに りょこうに いきました。
こうちけんは、しこくに ある けんなのですが、
しこくは たいふうが おおいので、かわが よく はんらんします。
そのため、みずで はしが こわれないよう、はしの てすりが ない
ちんかばし という はしが いくつか あります。
みずが すきとおる とても きれいな かわと、めずらしい はしの
けしきが とても きれいです。
きょうから いつかかんは、こうちで いった ゆうめいな ばしょを
ごしょうかいします。
Last week, I took a 3-night, 4-day trip to Kochi.
Kochi Prefecture is located on Shikoku Island.
And since Shikoku experiences frequent typhoons, rivers often flood.
Because of that, there are some bridges called chinkabashi
(sunken bridges) , bridges without handrails to prevent damage from rising water.
The crystal-clear, beautiful rivers and the unique scenery of
these unusual bridges are truly stunning.
Starting today, I'll be sharing famous places I visited in Kochi
over the next five days.

/ Kouchi is one of the prefectures in Shikoku.
It’s famous for beautiful rivers, sake, yuzu, bonito,
and Sakamoto Ryouma (a famous historical figure).
四国
（しこく）
/ There are four prefectures in Shikoku, which are
Kouchi, Kagawa, Tokushima and Ehime.
Shikoku is located in the south of Hiroshima.
沈下橋
（ちんかばし）
/ bridge without handrails
※ It’s narrow and only one car can cross it at a time,
so there are some places for pedestrians to wait
a car to pass.
※ It literally sinks in the water when the river floods,
so it’s called “沈(sink)下(under)橋(bridge)”

~ There are many kinds of ramen noodles ~
皆さんはラーメンが好きですか？
醤油ラーメン・味噌ラーメン・とんこつラーメンなど、
日本には本当にたくさんの種類のラーメンがありますが、
実は、麺にもいくつか種類があります。
細麺・太麺の他に、極太麺・ストレート麺・ちぢれ麺・平打ち麺などです。
私は平打ち麺が好きですが、皆さんはどんな麺が好きですか？
みなさんは らーめんが すきですか？
しょうゆ らーめん・みそ らーめん・とんこつ らーめんなど、
にほんには ほんとうに たくさんの しゅるいの らーめんが ありますが、
じつは、めんにも いくつか しゅるいが あります。
ほそめん・ふとめん のほかに、ごくぶとめん・すとれーとめん・
ちぢれめん・ひらうちめんなどです。
わたしは ひらうちめんが すきですが、みなさんは どんな めんが すきですか？

~ Soybean, soybean, soybean! ~
特に朝ごはんのときに思うのですが、
日本には大豆を使った食材が多いと思います。
私の定番の朝ごはんは、ご飯、納豆、お味噌汁、卵焼きなのですが、
納豆も大豆、味噌も大豆、味噌汁の中の油揚げも大豆、
卵焼きにかける醤油も大豆でできています。大豆だらけです😂
皆さんの国のご飯に欠かせない食材は、何ですか？
とくに あさごはんの ときに おもうのですが、
にほんには だいずを つかった しょくざいが おおいと おもいます。
わたしの ていばんの あさごはんは、ごはん、なっとう、おみそしる、
たまごやきなのですが、なっとうも だいず、みそも だいず、
みそしるの なかの あぶらあげも だいず、
たまごやきに かける しょうゆも だいずで できています。
だいずだらけです。
みなさんの くにの ごはんに かかせない しょくざいは、なんですか？
Especially when I have breakfast, I realize how many foods
made from soybeans Japan has.
My standard breakfast is rice, natto, miso soup, and tamagoyaki.
Natto is made from soybeans, miso is made from soybeans,
the fried tofu in the miso soup is made from soybeans,
and even the soy sauce I pour over the tamagoyaki is
made from soybeans. It's all soybeans! 😂

~ Bullying has been a big problem in Japan ~
子供のいじめは、長年日本の大きな問題です。
フランスでは、子供のいじめに対して厳しい罰があり、
いじめた子を転校させる権利が学校にある、という記事を見ました。
日本では、いじめられた子が学校に行けなくなり、
転校したり引越しをしなければいけないケースが多いです。
日本でも、もっといじめに対して厳しくなればいいなと思います。
こどもの いじめは、ながねん にほんの おおきな もんだいです
ふらんすでは、こどもの いじめに たいして きびしい ばつがあり、
いじめた こを てんこうさせる けんりが がっこうに ある、
という きじを みました。
にほんでは、いじめられた こが がっこうに いけなくなり、
てんこうしたり ひっこしを しなければ いけない けーすが おおいです。
にほんでも、もっと いじめに たいして きびしくなれば いいなと おもいます。
Bullying among children has been a major problem in Japan for many years.
I read an article saying that in France, there are strict penalties for bullying,
and schools have the right to transfer the bully to another school.
In Japan, it's often the bullied child who ends up unable to attend school,
and have to transfer schools or even move away.
I hope Japan would be more strict about bullying.

~ Next boom is Houji cha? ~
イギリスで抹茶がブームになっているそうなのですが、
人気すぎて抹茶が手に入らないそうです。
そこで、今はほうじ茶が注目されているそうです。
実は、抹茶とほうじ茶と緑茶は、同じ葉っぱでできています。
でも、ほうじ茶は抹茶よりカフェインが少ないので、
イギリスで少しずつ人気になっているようです。
いぎりすで まっちゃが ぶーむに なっているそうなのですが、
にんきすぎて まっちゃが てに はいらないそうです。
そこで、いまは ほうじちゃが ちゅうもくされているそうです。
じつは、まっちゃと ほうじちゃと りょくちゃは、
おなじ はっぱで できています。
でも、ほうじちゃは まっちゃより かふぇいんが すくないので、
いぎりすで すこしずつ にんきに なっているようです。
Matcha is apparently booming in the UK,
but it's so popular that matcha is hard to get.
So now, hojicha is gaining attention.
Actually, matcha, hojicha, and green tea are all made from the same leaves.
However, hojicha has less caffeine than matcha,
so it seems to be gradually gaining popularity in the UK.

~ Magazines and books are disappearing from コンビニ~
今年の3月から、徐々に日本のコンビニの雑誌コーナーがなくなってきています。
電子書籍などにより、雑誌が売れなくなったのが理由だそうです。
田舎者だった私は、子供の頃ファッション誌を読むのが大好きで、
同じ雑誌を何度も何度も大事に読んでいました。
電子書籍は便利ですが、紙の雑誌がなくなっていくのは、
少し寂しい気がします。
ことしの さんがつから、じょじょに にほんの こんびにの
ざっし こーなーが なくなってきています。
でんし しょせきなどにより、ざっしが うれなくなったのが りゆうだそうです。
いなかものだった わたしは、こどものころ ふぁっしょんしを
よむのが だいすきで、おなじ ざっしを なんども なんども
だいじに よんでいました。
でんし しょせきは べんりですが、かみの ざっしが なくなっていくのは、
すこし さびしい きがします。
Since March of this year, magazine sections in Japanese convenience stores
have been gradually disappearing.
It seems the reason is that magazines aren't selling well anymore,
due to e-books and such.
As a country girl, I loved reading fashion magazines as a child,
and I would read the same magazine over and over again and cherished them.
E-books are convenient, but seeing paper magazines disappear
makes me feel a little sad.
