Are you ready for another teen film? Well you better be as this week we are reviewing Fast Times at Ridgemont High. This is another classic 80s teen comedy with iconic scenes as well as some hard hitting ones too. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions as this film includes some fairly uncomfortable scenes, a surfer dude who loves taking his shirt off and a small appearance from Nicolas Cage.
An absolute classic. The adventure film of all adventure films. This is Raiders of the Lost Ark, the start of a legendary character named Indiana Jones. If you've never seen this film then what are you doing? You're truly missing out! This film has action, adventure, archaeological digs and much more.
When a teenagers parents go away for the weekend, a series of events leads to their son turning their house into a brothel. You would be right to think that took a drastic leap, wait until you hear what else happens. In this episode you can expect some iconic underpants dancing, a tiny little Tom Cruise and some scenes which you definitely don't want to watch with your parents...like seriously, you've be warned.
A killer car. Enough said really about this weeks review of John Carpenter's Christine. Expect some, but not as much as you wanted of a killer car, in a killer car film.
Today we review a film about a book, which is about thoughts and imagination which potentially are happening in real life or in a child's head. It's hard to tell. Anyway, this is The NeverEnding Story (except don't worry, this podcast episode does end and you don't have to listen to us forever). From this episode you can except a very tragic death of an animal, some really good practical effects and a dragon who says he likes kids...lets leave it there.
This week we are taking a stroll down the streets of LA and meeting up with Sgt Riggs and Sgt Murtaugh to solve a mysterious murder linked with a larger criminal enterprise. This has got to be one of the best action/cop movies ever made and a personal favourite in general. From this weeks episode you can expect an overly interested therapist, a crazy but not crazy cop and some great one liners such as "I guess we need to register you as a lethal weapon."
What do you think happens when you die? In this film it's different for everyone. For Barbara and Adam, their death meant trying to scare away a family who moved into their home. It may not go so well for them so they hire Betelgeuse...and then it gets worse. In this review of Beetlejuice you can expect some spooky bed sheets, an abrupt death and maybe a slight inspiration from dune.
Today we have a visitor from another world who just wants to phone home. Yes, that's right, we are reviewing E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial! Get your bicycle baskets ready as we float away across the moon right into this fun family movie that is by far one of the most well known 80s films. From this episode you can expect maybe evil but maybe not scientists, the discussion on if this film stands the test of time and potential names for the film if it wasn't called E.T!
You may be thinking this isn't an 80s film... And you would be right! Welcome to our first Cinema Club Special where we review basically whatever we want! For our first special we are taking a look at Pixels with a special guest. This film is all about 80s video game nostalgia and we are here for it! So this week you can expect Adam Sandler and all his friends, Sean Bean being extremely English and some pretty weird things to do with Q*bert.
(Apologies in advance if the audio quality isn't as good as usual, there was extensive technical issues and everything possible has been done to fix them. Trust me, it sounded much worse than it does now!)
What's that? It can't be? Oh wait! It is! We are back! After way too many weeks away we are finally back and for our first episode we are reviewing The Karate Kid! So get ready to wax on wax off, paint the fence and of course make your best crane kick pose!
