This week, we talk with an inspiring voice in the adaptive outdoors community — Terry Burke Schake, founder of Outdoor Adventures for the Disabled, a growing Facebook group dedicated to connection, support, and encouragement for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts with disabilities.

Terry is a Pennsylvania native now living in Ohio, and he’s a paraplegic due to a gunshot wound. His story is one of resilience, purpose, and a deep love for the outdoors — and we’re honored to share it.

Today’s guest is Tim “Spike” Davis — a talented cartoonist, writer, and outdoorsman whose work has been featured in Christianity Today, outdoor magazines, and in his own books that highlight life, faith, and the adventures that inspire his cartoon art. Today, Zack is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in Yorba Linda, CA, providing counseling both in-person and online. He’s also the voice behind Quadlife with Zack on YouTube, where he shares real, motivational insights into life with a spinal cord injury.

Zack’s journey has taken him far beyond limitations—earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, building a career in counseling, becoming a husband and a father, and even pushing boundaries through adaptive adventures like skydiving, scuba diving, and target shooting with adaptive equipment.

Being able to share the woods, the waterways,  and more so the amazing memories is what it’s truly all about.

Having a successful harvest is great, but being able to build bonds through tragedy is always truly humbling and heartfelt.

From the extension of BeAdaptive equipment to the use of accessible golf carts, they’re finding new ways to get more wheelchairs back out into nature. It’s all about finding a way.
