The Ultimate Traitor explores the chilling true story of Robert Hendy-Freegard — the conman who posed as an MI5 agent and manipulated his victims through fear, loyalty and lies. A real-life game of trust and betrayal that echoes The Traitors, this episode examines how deception became a weapon — and how ordinary people were drawn into his control, with so many lives destroyed.
In the end he was just a Traitor, playing a game that nobody agreed to play.

Today I am re-releasing an episode I recorded in 2019 about Allan Grimson, a totally depraved excuse for a man who murdered at least two Royal Navy Sailors and it is speculated, up to as many as twenty others. The reason I have re-released this episode for you today, is because as you may have heard, the police announced last week that they have ended the investigation into the disappearance of Simon Parkes in Gibraltar - a man widely thought to have been another of Grimson's victims.
I don't think this story is widely enough known and so wanted to release it again as a tribute to the two men who were killed by Grimson - Nicholas Wright and Sion Jenkins - and to raise awareness in the hope that Simon's devastated family and friends can finally discover what happened to him.

I round off this Horrors Over The Holidays selection of tales with a senseless story from New Year's Day in 2020, for which we head to the Stockbridge Village area of Merseyside, and for a discovery that no daughter should ever have to face, and a crime that highlights just how evil and tragedy do not respect the holidays, not at all....

January 1, 2026 marks 31 years since Fred West took his own life while awaiting trial for a series of horrific crimes that shocked Britain. This special episode features a rare and insightful conversation with Geoffrey Wansell, the journalist and author commissioned to write West’s official biography following his death.
Geoffrey brings a unique perspective shaped by extensive research, exclusive access, and decades of experience covering some of the UK’s most notorious cases. In our discussion, he reflects on the challenges of documenting West’s life, the realities behind the investigation, and the responsibility that comes with telling such a dark and complex story.

The Hogmanay Party had been a great success, and returning to his parents home in Milngavie, in East Dunbartonshire, all then 23 year old Cameron Logan and his girlfriend, 25 year old Rebecca Williams could think about in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2017 was having some food, and going to sleep.
Soon after they drifted off to sleep, neither of them saw or heard the dark clad, masked figure stood at the foot of the bed, holding a canister of petrol…

The Horrors Over The Holidays: New Year’s Evil this time around takes us back to New Years Eve 2013, and down to the county of Hampshire, to the start of what was planned to be a very ordinary New Year’s Eve party. By early evening, the drink was flowing, and the two identical twin brothers, inseparable in so many things, had sat down to match each other drink for drink.
It was a night that was to change the life of several – and end the life of one of them.

The story from this week looks at a massive seizure of heroin and cocaine from a gang based in the north-west of England and rural north Wales. But what hit me is there is none of the drama we see in crime programmes on the television - it is a story of four men quietly going about their business under the radar, making money for themselves and causing untold misery in the communities where we all live. Depending on your view of the failure - or otherwise - of the so-called 'War on Drugs' then this story is either of real significance, or it doesn't really matter....

Sticking with this Horrors Over The Holidays season of daily tales, I now move onto those tales that take place over the turn of the year, beginning with a tale from North Wales from the early 1990's, and a night of horror that left five people dead, and an equal number of families bearing the scars - and the memories - today.

We head back to the Christmas of 1972 for this Horrors Over The Holidays episode, where I account a strange, yet tragic story in which the question is posed - can a house be jinxed, do you think? Or are there more earthly explanations, based on the light of subsequent events...

The only unsolved tale of this Horrors Over The Holidays season I have curated drops here with a tale of tragedy, cruelty, and an account of a truly horrific ordeal from Christmas 1995 where we meet a 'gentle giant' named Alan Holmes.
His tale, I'm sure, you'll never forget.

In place of a regular episode, this Christmas Day I’m sharing a short, heartfelt message - think of it as the Yorkshire version of the King’s Speech.
This brief Christmas Day special touches on the importance of connection at this time of year, acknowledges how difficult the season can be for many, and reflects on the victims and families behind the cases we’ve explored throughout 2025.
Thank you for listening this year, for supporting the show, and for being part of this growing community across Yorkshire, the UK, and over a hundred countries worldwide.
I wish you a very Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year when it comes.
Cheerio, Stu x

Christmas parties are meant to be a time to unwind - a few drinks, familiar faces, and a break from the everyday routine - but the festive season also brings real and often overlooked dangers.
In this episode of True Crime Catch Up, Adam and I explore the deadly reality of one-punch killings, where a split-second act of violence can end one life and permanently destroy another. We examine how these incidents typically unfold on nights out, the role alcohol plays, and whether sentencing for one-punch manslaughter truly reflects the harm caused.
We also look at other risks that spike during the festive period, including fake taxi drivers and drink spiking. From offenders impersonating licensed cabbies to gain trust, to the growing number of spiking cases that never result in charges, we break down the methods used, the legal challenges involved, and the devastating impact on victims. Alongside real cases, we discuss prevention, public awareness and personal safety - asking whether more can be done to stop these crimes before tragedy strikes.
True Crime Catch Up is a new weekly podcast in which we discuss the true crime stories that deserve your attention. Watch or listen every Wednesday as we unpick the stories that are gripping the nation, expose the details of untold misdemeanours and revisit the infamous crimes that made the headlines in years gone by.
It's your one stop shop to get caught up on everything you need to know about the true crime stories that need your attention.

Psychopath - The Two Sides Of Patrick Mackay, my collaboration with Mike from the fabulous Murder Mile, is now out in its full 10 parts. A few weeks ago, having finished it, me and Mike managed to sit down and discuss the case in full, which we have recorded us doing, and which we bring to you for a bonus time around. It's totally unscripted, very largely unedited, perhaps a lot less serious than both of us usually are - and which I bring to you here.
The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving descriptions of animal cruelty, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in.
