Bonus Episode: The Murder of Nicola Crawford

For this bonus episode, I am a guest once again on one of my favourite true crime shows, the excellent REDRUM Podcast with Grace.

In this episode from the US, Grace tells me the story of the tragic murder of Nicola Crawford. Nicola was a young mum killed by her stalker, leaving behind devastated family and friends - and two young sons, 8-year-old Gabriel and 5-year-old Oliver.

Patrick Mackay: The Two Sides Of A Psychopath - Part 2

Continuing the ten part crossover series that myself and my friend Mike of the Murder Mile Podcast have joined forces to bring you, the two sides to the psychopath that is Patrick Mackay, last time on the Enthusiast we left Mackay having confessed in full detail to the murder of Kent Catholic priest Father Anthony Crean.

It was a murder that truly was the stuff of nightmares, but once Mackay started talking, he couldn’t stop – and was about to open up to detectives about a terrifying crime spree that he was responsible for.

That had left two elderly ladies dead, and countless more traumatised to their dying days.

The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving crimes against the elderly, and with disturbing descriptions of injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in.

On Friday the 20th of July 1973, a kind and frail 75-year-old spinster called Mary Hynds was last seen entering her ground floor lodging at 4 Willes Road in Kentish Town, London. Police linked it to serial killer Patrick MacKay, and he confessed to the crime. But was he guilty?

This series explores the killings he confessed to, and which he committed.

FROM THE ARCHIVES | Peter Sutcliffe: 13 Forgotten Victims

Five years after Peter Sutcliffe’s death, his crimes continue to cast a long shadow over Northern England. In this remastered episode, I revisit a two-part series from my archives, now presented as one seamless story.

This episode focuses on the thirteen women whose names are too often forgotten. I look at who they were, the lives they were building, and how systemic failings left them at risk. I also revisit the investigation’s major missteps, the Wearside Jack hoax, and the eventual arrest and trial.

Fifty years on from the first confirmed murder - and five years since Sutcliffe’s death - their stories remain as important as ever.

I covered this case in July 2017 so this is a re-release this episode with an introduction and a conclusion including some of the findings of the report and what happens next.

If you haven't listened to this episode before or are unfamiliar with the events that took place at Medomsley I urge you to listen as it really as one of the most shocking stories you will ever hear.

A City in Fear: Remembering the Nottingham Three | Ep. 219

In early 2005, Nottingham was gripped by fear as three women lost their lives in a series of brutal killings that shocked the city.

First was 25-year-old Ellen Frith, whose body was discovered in a derelict flat that had been set on fire. Just weeks later, 18-year-old Katie Baxter and 26-year-old Zoe Pennick were found dead in eerily similar circumstances - both victims of unimaginable violence.

In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I explore one of Nottingham’s darkest chapters - a story of addiction, vulnerability, and a man who boasted about becoming the city’s first serial killer.

Nature vs Nurture: The Jed Allen Case | Ep. 218

In May 2015, 21-year-old Jed Allen committed an act so horrifying it would rock the quiet Oxfordshire town of Didcot to its core.

For reasons known only to him, Allen brutally ended the lives of his mum, stepdad, and half-sister one fateful Saturday afternoon, before taking his own two days later.

In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I explore one of Oxfordshire’s most shocking cases. A story involving familicide, an obsession with a comic book antihero, and an unstable childhood that leaves us asking the age-old question: are people born evil, or are they moulded that way?
