Redistricting Battles, Rising GOP Numbers, and and Higher Ed with Adam Kissel
It's another great episode of America in View! Political drama continues to play out state by state, as Texas and California present new districts for Congress. While Texas has almost completed their new map, California is only getting started and has a lot more legal obstacles to redraw their lines. But blue states may have their efforts undermined by what the New York Times reported this week: every state that reports voter registration by party has shown an increase for Republicans over the past four years. All 30 states! The national difference is 4.5 million more Republicans. Adam Kissel, noted conservative expert on education policy and author of Slacking: A Guide To Ivy League Miseducation, is our guest on this week's episode. Kissel is a visiting fellow for The Heritage Foundation and is a board member for multiple universities. He served in the first Trump administration as deputy assistant secretary for higher education programs. We have a great conversation about what’s going wrong in higher education and balance that with some good news about efforts to reset expectations in Florida and elsewhere.
