In this solo podcast episode, I get into the energy of the Leo Full Moon and other related aspects. This episode also touches on subjects like the Genocide occurring now and how it reflects Pluto's energy in Aquarius.
Being vulnerable is a scary thing, especially when you have wounds around being seen/perceived stemming from your father's wounds.
Aspects like Venus in Capricorn, which go hand in hand with the shadows being illuminated with this full moon are also discussed in its correlation to having the courage to express oneself authentically.
With that note, I went to my deepest empathy to issues going on overseas with those being affected in the 110-plus days of genocide!

Join me, Angelia Santiago, on a journey of authenticity and healing as we navigate the complexities of overcoming past traumas. Listen in as I share my personal battles with grief, family drama, and the lessons learned from allowing external forces to shape my life. Embracing the idea of intergenerational healing, I offer insights into the significance of being present and making peace with our history to create a brighter future. For anyone feeling alone or self-critical, this is your reminder that our stories continue to unfold and self-understanding is key to our growth!
I reflect on the transformative importance of tuning into our bodies and emotions. Hear about the risks of sidelining our inner wisdom for pure logic, and the need to reclaim and honor the origins of spiritual practices. We'll explore the pitfalls of the inner critic and the loss that comes from ignoring our bodies' signals. With a hopeful outlook for 2024, I encourage you to break free from societal pressures and find your unique, intuitive rhythm, affirming that comparison only serves to steal our joy and love.
In sharing the profound impact of my brother's passing exactly 2 years ago, I emphasize the importance of a legacy built on love and healing rather than material success. This chapter is a testament to the messy, non-linear, and deeply personal nature of self-improvement and self-love – a journey that is not only necessary but infinitely rewarding.
This is a personal reflection, like a recorded journal seeing my progress as a recovering personal pleaser, in creating healthy boundaries for not only my future but the legacy of my people!

Join the Ancestors Mama Podcast for a heartfelt exchange with Katya Quezada! She is a journalist whose voice has been a beacon of inspiration through her podcast "Cupola Colocha Says" Podcast. Delving into the Christmas season, we converse about the vibrant fusion of joy and cultural identity. Katya brings to the table a wealth of stories that shine a light on the trials and triumphs within communities of color. Experience the candid reflections on the holiday emotions, particularly for those distanced from family or wrestling with their cultural identity, and the societal expectations that weigh heavily on women of color.
As the aroma of holiday spices fills the air, we unravel the complexities of cultural assimilation and identity within the Latin American community. From the generational shifts to the impact of colorism, our discussion takes a deep look at how we navigate our heritage in a world that's quick to label. We celebrate the strides made towards authentic representation and the importance of standing firm in our roots, especially during the cultural milestones that define us.
Wrapping up the episode, we pay homage to the cherished traditions of Puerto Rico and El Salvador, reflecting on the need to safeguard these customs against the tide of colonization and assimilation. We share personal tales and urge listeners to pass down the torch of heritage to the younger generations. And as the New Year dawns, we advocate for a cycle of intention and hope, cherishing every moment with loved ones, and embracing the unyielding resilience of our communities. Ever wondered why traditional mental health treatments often seem to miss the mark? This riveting conversation with therapist and root worker, Angelica Sievers, might provide some answers.
Angelica sparks a crucial dialogue about the current norms of mental health treatment, shedding light on how its overemphasis on the cerebral aspect often leaves the body and spirit overlooked. She takes us through her personal journey of reshaping her practice, moving away from patriarchal therapy towards a more encompassing approach that allows healing on all fronts - body, mind, and spirit.
Navigating through our discussion, we tackle the unhealthy relationship we have with space and how it directly affects our ability to heal. Angelica discusses her process of decolonizing her relationship with her body, curating a space that fosters an understanding of ourselves and others. She challenges the notion of convenience dictating our practice of embodiment, pushing us to go beyond the superficial and truly connect with our bodies.
Join us as we uncover how to reconnect with our bodies, discovering the joy and pleasure that the journey of embodiment holds. We discuss strategies of surrendering to the wisdom of our bodies, breath, and spirit, and how to acknowledge when control is being sought for safety. With Angelica's profound insights, we explore the importance of fostering an environment of love and acceptance, understanding the disconnection from our bodies due to colonization, and the true joy of the journey of embodiment. Let's embark on this enlightening journey together, discovering a fresh perspective on healing.

The Aries full moon is an invitation for us to take bold action and come back home to ourselves. We are unique expressions of God, and although it can be hard to take steps of faith sometimes, the path will become clear. We must remember to ask ourselves what brings us joy and what lights up our soul, and to say no to anything that does not feel right. Even in moments of despair, there can be blessings - we just have to be open to seeing them. It's time for us to own our joy, our magic, and our power, and break the chain of survivalism that has been passed down through generations.

As we navigated our shared experiences with humility, my guest, chicanx ancestral healing therapist Cynthia Alonzo Perez, and I embarked on a profound exploration of humility as it intertwines with ancestral wisdom and intuition. It's fascinating to observe how humility, a tool our ancestors utilized for protection, can sometimes act as an oppressor today, taming our power and limiting our potential. This conversation illuminates how deeply connecting with our roots can serve as a catalyst for healing and growth.
Together, we delved into the archetype of the Curandera, the power of healing our humility, and how intuition plays a vital role in healing and spiritual development. Our open and honest conversations about reconnecting with our spiritual roots reveal authenticity and vulnerability as strengths in our journeys, not weaknesses. Cynthia's insights on astral projection and its potential in healing trauma are astounding. We also discussed the harm toxic positivity can bring in spiritual spaces, particularly for women of color, emphasizing the immense value of being present in our healing journeys.
From reclaiming ancestral wisdom to honoring our roots, we underscored the importance of sourcing medicine and spiritual items from genuine indigenous sources. Our personal stories shed light on how healing our fear from humility, has taught us to trust ourselves and receive from others. Our discussions about intuitively listening to our bodies and slowing down to tune into our intuition will make you question: How often do we sit still and listen to ourselves? By the end of our chat, you'll walk away with a deeper understanding of your SACRED power, our ancestors' wisdom, and the audacity it takes to reclaim our power TOGETHER!

In this beautiful conversation with Shawna McGrath, we explore the profound topic of her recent book - The Psychopomp Function. Tune in as we delve into the meaning behind the psychopomp, a mythic figure that guides souls after death. Through this, we uncover the layers of symbolism, healing, and knowledge we can gain from understanding this process. We also touch on the shifting landscape of the spiritual community and its evolving approach to the guru figure.
Our journey continues as we discuss the societal pressure of toxic positivity and how it has seeped into the spiritual community. Join us as we ponder the impacts of perfectionism and the relief that psychotherapy can offer. Listen in as we challenge the concept of healing being transactional and instead, propose it as a relational process. In this episode, we also explore the powerful themes of archetypes, symbolism, and the dark feminine. We investigate how our ancestors found truth and light by embracing darkness, as we question the impacts of toxic positivity in this conversation.
As we navigate the realms of connection, meaning, and self-worth, we take a fresh look at our interconnectedness with everything around us. We discuss how recognizing our links to our ancestors, the land, plants, and even everyday objects can aid in understanding our purpose. In the final part of the episode, we probe the symbolism of Venus, the Greek goddess of love and war, and its relevance to our self-discovery journey.
Lastly, we stress the importance of self-care and emotional support, reminding our listeners to approach themselves with love, curiosity, and compassion. This episode is a profound exploration of darkness, light, and everything in between.

Join me in this episode as I reflect on the powerful energy of the recent Taurus new moon and its connection to manifestation and ancestral wisdom. I share my personal experiences with Taurus energy through the lives of my late brother and grandfather, and how their approach to life has influenced my perspective on manifestation. We'll discuss the importance of moving from a safe and secure space within ourselves and embracing the sensual, embodied aspects of manifestation, rather than relying solely on mental desires.
Listen in as we explore the connection between our ancestors and the creation of limitless legacies for continuous wealth and abundance. We'll discuss the importance of shifting our mindset from lack and undeserving to healing, growth, and expansion for the benefit of our lineage. I also share some practices I've been using in my one-on-one client work, such as painting with our hands to immerse ourselves in the experience of manifestation and connecting to the wisdom of our womb. Don't miss this episode as we dive into the power of embodiment and ancestral wisdom in our manifestation journey.
I will be hosting full moon gatherings once again and will be joined by a dear friend Dawn Marino who is a crystal healer, psychic meduim, tarot reader, and a Darl Night of the Soul Guide. This is going to be a juicy full moon gathering with some soul-led journal prompts, some rhythmic body movement, crystal healing, and ancestral meditation.

With Taurus season nearing its end I've realized how much I have punished myself for moments of rest. I know I am not the only one and those of us who are advocates for liberatory work, in decolonizing everything, we know this is not an easy feat. Instead, it is a process we must allow ourselves to sit with time and time again.
This post-eclipse season reflection podcast episode is just that sinking deeper into what it truly means to surrender and embody one's rhythmic flow! This is the third season, of the Ancestors Mama podcast and I have decided to take a much more intuitive approach, and not the forceful one I have been trying to fit myself in for so long; which has never worked!
During this self-realization chat, I discovered what really matters to me and how I would better like to move in a self and soul-soothing dynamic. We all know how dogmatic even the trendiness of the spiritual community has become, and it doesn't fit! This is a soul convo from my heart to yours getting back to the good stuff of self-actualization, and seeing the journey for what it is in our human form and all of its GLORY!

In this episode with the author of the book The Ancestral Now, Ramon Castellanos, we delve deep into the magic and wisdom of this truly beautifully written book.
Ramon Castellanos was raised in a household devoted to a profound magical tradition stemming from the African Diaspora. Hence, his magical training started in early childhood. He has studied closely with multiple high-level spiritual, magical and internal alchemy teachers. Having healed himself from multiple health conditions, his learning has allowed him to help others, even while working directly under multiple physicians. He is also an instructor of several energetic and internal alchemical systems including, Primordial Alchemy, The Kundalini Awakening Process, and Eight Extraordinary Vessels qigong. And after spending a decade living and working in the wilderness at a wolf sanctuary, and learning directly from the animals, he found a deep love for the ancestral inheritance we share with life on this planet.
You can find more of Ramon's work at: https://www.theancestralnow.com

This episode has been a long time in the making, as it has taken me a while to publicly have this sensitive conversation.
I have realized as much as death is part of life, there are a lot of taboo cultural undertones when dealing with others going through grief. My brother who was also my best friend past away earlier this year. It has been a messy up and down with a lot of realizations process, and I am so glad I had the honor of conversing with Kat about this!
Kat is a queer, chronically ill, first-generation Xicanx femme survivor who chooses to practice care through death & grief work. They believe that by intentionally holding space for people during some of the most tender and vulnerable transitions of life, we can truly create sustainable, accountable, and reciprocal relationships. You can find them on Instagram @princesa_kata or visit their website, www.katlopez.com.
Through this discussion, we touched on many heavy aspects of going through grief, the assumptions, and societal expectations in our performances "to be well."
One of the biggest lies told to us about healing grief is that it is something we have to eventually get over and there are steps to something our brains and hearts can't possibly fathom in the midst of it.
It's my hope in listening to this conversation you gain a greater understanding and awareness of giving yourself grace and compassion through this type of transition. No one type of grief is the same and this form of trauma affects us all in different ways.
Lastly, grief is not something you just get over but you learn to live with it as things will never be the same and you will be changed because of it.
For anyone who is in the depths of this process my heart goes out to you with love and empathy, and I hope this served as a reminder that you are not alone in this!
Please reach out to Kat or group grief counseling, because you don't have to push on without support!
Lastly, as mentioned: I have recently opened up a cohort of fellow BIWOCs to have these types of conversations, dismantling the control and trauma ingrained in us from colonial/capitalistic control.

In this episode, I connect with a deep soul about the hardship and the ups and downs of facing the hard truths of disconnecting with our narcissistic parents.
Brisa is a first-generation detribalized Xicana, intuitive healer, and trauma-informed somatic experiencing practitioner. She is also a chef, farmer, and student of curandismo. She is also strongly connected to her ancestors and guides who teach her the medicine for her work.
We go in-depth about our own living experiences with this process and all the guilt, shame, betrayal, and isolation associated with licking these wounds ourselves. Brisa also has a formal educational background in psychology focusing on community, the immigrant experience, and mental illness.
During this conversation, we share some of our wisdom through this lived experience in decolonizing our medicine and our truth!

Remember to be gentle with yourself going through this process as the ebbs and flows of weaving your own inner wisdom takes time, patience and compassion for oneself!

I had the Divine pleasure in speaking with Dee, sharing our shared passion for dismantling the limiting constructs of our spiritual/cultural practices. Both Dee and I are Rican bodies, bending the rules of what is spiritually acceptable within the Puerto Rican communities. With the resurgence of Indigenous and African roots, I noticed how one-sided these practices can be in only honoring the old ways. I had a private conversation with Dee about this post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdY2xevO-oJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link. It moved me so much because at the time I was having a deep look at myself in the context of my spiritual and ancestral practices.
Many of us whose ancestors hail from the Caribbean see a handful of closed practices, which I have felt wary about in my soul. I believe there is great wisdom in these practices that we can all see such as in Santeria, Espertismo, Voodoo, etc., but that is not the only way to have a sound relationship with your ancestors.
I have noticed the narcissism and egotism in the hierarchy of many closed practices. This includes those who want to reconnect with their Indigenous roots, and how putting it can be for those of us who want to reconnect with their roots. I have seen the ill effect of hierarchy placed in many spiritual practices both closed and not closed, and how it pushes people away like the church due to this "only way" type of thinking. This is all to say there is no "right or only" way in reconnecting with your roots, and many times it can be a lonely road because you don't know which way to go. When we are cast to the side or marked off before we have a fighting chance to try, it regurgitates this colonizer's wound of being less than.
The divide and conquer method from our oppressors still thrives to this day, in these repeated offenses to each other!! This is our take on this issue and dissecting it in an open-minded and objective way. By no means are we continuing this cycle of self-policing within our community, but rather bring light to this situation, as it has been hush hush for so long! We can still use these powerful tools from ALL practices of our ancestors melded into our unique and induvial practice, while still honoring them for their medicine.
That is my wish and the purpose of this conversation, and I hope this gives you the inspiration to explore what your spirituality and ancestor veneration means to you! I had the pleasure of speaking with a dear friend Renata McElvany about different topics around being a "Latina" and what that looks like. You can find Renata and some of her work on Instagram @rentamcelvany or on her website https://www.renatamcelvany.com/.
In this episode: Hermanas United we hold nothing back in diving head first into some cultural taboo topics within in the "Latin" community, such as narcissism in the family dynamic as a learned survival mechanism from colonization. This issue although very rarely spoken of, is not unique as many people from all backgrounds within the BIPOC community have experienced this generational issue. Divide and conquer is a learned behavior from the oppressors' that we repeat and act on as our own "beliefs."
This discussion is an act of rebellion against the hush hush mental and emotional manipulative tactics to keep us quiet in these cyclical patterns. This is our retaliation against the notion that in order to rise we should push down others, as taught to us through societal and patriarchal competitions. These types of experiences although not unique to our own individual experiences, they speak to the high volumes of expectations within the Spanish speaking communities to maintain a certain imagine. We are conditioned to carry out these belief systems as our own, as we continue the cycle of silencing our own voices for the needs of our families before our own!
This is our take on this taboo subject and our own learned nuggets of wisdom from our shared experiences, while also healing ancestrally as we severe the ties to this type of learned colonizer mentality. Our voices are stronger in numbers and as we peel the layers of fear and shame, in what silenced us before, we make it easier for the future generations to be TRUE TO THEMSELVES!!✨
Hey Loves! This episode is very near and dear for me as I take you through a journey of spiritual healing with my ancestors and Jesus or as my guides call him: The Great One. I had this lovely conversation with Elizabeth Kathryn who opened me up to the idea of getting deeper into the healing of my sexual trauma. For anyone who had to endure such abuse, knows how personal and triggering this subject can be. Throughout this conversation I take you through the ups and downs with my emotions of it all and how my guides and ancestors held and guided me to the other side in safety.
As a healer/coach many of us had our own fair share of traumatic experiences, which came to be our initiations in helping to heal others. It took me a little while to finally pull the trigger in uploading this episode, admittedly so, but with recent realizations of how the past can hold us back, I decided to push through my insecurities, in hopes this will give someone out there a glimmer of hope. In this episode, I also wanted to shed light on what healing with your ancestors looks like through their guidance, and how it differs from most forms of therapy.
If you have any interest or questions about healing and connecting with your ancestors you can reach me at my Instagram @ancestors_mama. Hope you enjoyed the episode, and looking forward to connecting with you all, sending you so much love and many blessings, from my heart to yours!
