Freida MacDonald became an advocate for the opioid epidemic after losing her only two sons. Stephen died at 24 in January 2012 to gun violence and Michael died at 24 in February 2016 to fentanyl after a two-year battle with substance use disorder.Freida received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Campbell University in 2007 and retired from BB&T after 33 years in 2021.
