It is often argued that Jesus could not be the promised Messiah because the previous Scriptures speak of Messiah as a victorious warrior, not as a victim who would endure extreme suffering, humiliation, and defeat. This is often made as a general point against the idea of Jesus being the expected Messiah and it is also often used specifically to deny that Jesus is the one foretold by the prophet Isaiah in the 53rd chapter of his prophecy. In this livestream we will look at this issue and see that, while it is true enough to say in response that the Messiah would first suffer and then enter into His glory, as Jesus Himself said, it is also true to say that Messiah is presented as a victorious warrior not merely subsequent to and in spite of His prior suffering but even in terms of it.
