Arsecast Extra Episode 655 - 25.08.2025

In this episode we look back on what was an exciting weekend for Arsenal fans. The signing and presentation of Eberechi Eze almost overshadowed what was a very impressive win for Mikel Arteta's side – so we chat first about the arrival of the former Crystal Palace and how it has made us all feel (answer: very good and hahaha at you know who). Then we discuss the 5-0 win over Leeds, two goals for Jurrien Timber and two very important ones for Viktor Gyokeres, the debut of 15 year old Max Dowman and his impact from the bench, and other snippets from what was a great first home game of the season. Part 2 begins with transfer news as we're linked with another left-back, before we answer questions about the future of Gabriel Martinelli, whether Gabriel Jesus can play a role this season as he nears a comeback, left-footed Hale End graduates, our ongoing injury issues, a possible front 3 at Anfield, and lots more.

Episode 841 – Eze does it

In this episode I'm joined by Musa Okwonga and Ryan Hunn of Stadio to chat about an eventful day in Arsenal's summer. It began with an injury to Kai Havertz, it ended with elation as the Gunners hijacked Spurs for the signing of Eberechi Eze. We discuss what the player can bring to Arsenal, the inspirational nature of his journey having been released by the club when he was 13, the options it provides Mikel Arteta, and of course the reaction from the other side which has been downright hilarious. We also chat about Man Utd, Liverpool, an interesting development in the Bundesliga's TV rights, and the fact that Stadio is now an independent podcast and what their plans are for the season ahead and beyond.

Bonus Arsecast! Ian Wright on Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

In this short bonus episode I'm joined by Arsenal legend Ian Wright to chat about our 1-0 win over Man Utd on the opening day. We discuss the difficulty of Old Trafford and the importance of taking three points on the first day of the season; Viktor Gyokeres making his debut, the pressure on him to deliver, and parallels between his career and Ian, both of whom joined the club in their late 20s; and the incredible partnership between William Saliba and Gabriel whose defensive prowess was pivotal to the win and keeping a clean sheet away from home.

Arsecast Extra Episode 654 - 18.08.2025

In this episode we look back on the opening game of the new Premier League season which saw Arsenal grind out a 1-0 win over Man Utd at Old Trafford. The result can't be argued with, but there's been a lot of discussion about the performance. We chat about how much that matters, in the context of the venue, the first game of the season, the pressure on Arsenal from all quarters, and the team maybe having to learn a slightly new way of playing. There's analysis of transition moments which didn't work out as well as Mikel Arteta would like, praise for the defensive side of the performance, and listener questions about our pressing game, the possibility of more signings before the window closes, Jakub Kiwior's future, the captaincy vote and lots more.

Episode 839 - "It's only pre-season"

In this episode I'm joined by Tom Canton from The Gooner Talk to discuss Arsenal's defeat to Villarreal on Wednesday evening. We talk about finding the balance between the fact 'It's only pre-season' and some worrying aspects of the Gunners' performance – including defensive instability, and how we need to change aspects of the way we play with Viktor Gyokeres up front. There's also discussion of midfield, the need for more creativity, some positives with the return of Gabriel and Jurrien Timber, and Max Dowman continuing to impress. Should he be in the squad for Old Trafford? All that, some Noni Madueke, and lots more.

Episode 838 - Left Alone

In this episode I'm joined by Phil Costa to discuss Arsenal's final pre-season tour game in Hong Kong and some of the conversations around it. Is it worrying that too much felt familiar, or are there mitigating circumstances? We chat about the game itself, the goal we conceded, and our lack of output, before the conversation moves to the left-hand side and what we need to do there. Is it all about making a big signing? Can we get more out of the players we have, perhaps in conjunction with new players like Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke? We also discuss Eberechi Eze as the missing piece of the puzzle, defensive departures, and lots more.

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim is joined by Clive Palmer from the Arsenal Vision Podcast to talk about Arsenal's £1m bid for Olivia Smith being accepted by Liverpool. They discuss Arsenal's identification of the player, what it says that the club were willing to meet Liverpool's firm asking price and the changing landscape of transfer fees in women's football, what Smith can add to the team and the importance of bringing the age profile down in the wide areas. They also discuss how her game at Liverpool can be scaled up at Arsenal and there's a little on greater use of squad players next season in the interests of making a firmer league title challenge.

In this episode I'm joined by Andrew Allen to chat about the signing of Christian Norgaard and where he fits in the context of our summer business so far. We also round up the rumours involving the Viktor Gyokeres deal and reports around that, Leandro Trossard and Fabio Vieira leaving the club, talk about resetting and going again for the title next season, and lots more.
