Sometimes we are our own biggest roadblocks on this journey through entrepreneurship. We have big ideas, we dream up big plans, but then our own self-doubt and fear of failure creeps in and we hold ourselves back.
I was chatting with a prospective CPSM student who expressed that her only hesitation in enrolling in the program is the business piece. She has never started her own business and that feels scary and overwhelming. She knows she will be great at supporting families, and she is passionate about healthy sleep habits for children, but what if she fails? Well, you can’t succeed if you don’t even try!
On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I share:
- That the irony around fear of failure is that if you are so afraid to fail that you don’t even try, then you failed before even getting started!
- How we can relate these feelings we have as sleep consultants back to our clients. When our clients are finally ready to make a change, and try to teach their child to fall asleep in a new way, that’s when they can have a really meaningful transformation!
- When you say yes to yourself, that’s the very first step on your new adventure. It’s sometimes scary, always thrilling, and entirely worth it!

On today’s episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I am joined by Allison Henderson, business coach and social media strategist who specializes in helping sleep consultants grow their client base both locally and online. She blends practical strategy with mindset and energetic growth practices, helping her clients build sustainable businesses and, for many, replace their corporate income.
As we wrap up 2025 and look ahead to 2026, we focused this conversation on goal setting and intention setting for service-based business owners. We talked about where to start when goals feel overwhelming, how to think about money without guilt, and why clarity and consistency matter more than chasing every strategy you see online.
This episode is especially relevant for sleep consultants who are wanting their goals to support both their income and their lifestyle. Alison shares practical ways to turn intentions into action, stay focused on what actually works, and tune out the noise that can lead to comparison and burnout.
If you’re heading into the new year thinking about how you want your business and your life to feel, you’re going to love this conversation!

This week on the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m joined by Deb Pocica, a postpartum doula who added sleep consulting to her business and saw an immediate shift in the way she could support families.
In this episode, we talk about:
• Why sleep consulting is the perfect complement to postpartum care
• How sustainable systems can prevent burnout for doulas and sleep consultants
• What expanding your services can mean for both your income and your energy
The truth is, postpartum care often ends right when families need continued guidance the most. Sleep consulting fills that gap. It extends support beyond the newborn phase, strengthens relationships, and positions you as a long term resource instead of a short term solution.
If you are a doula or newborn care specialist thinking about how to grow, diversify, or prevent burnout in your business… this episode will give you a lot to think about.

Are you spending more time thinking about success than actually taking action? In this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I dive into why overthinking keeps you stuck and how saying yes to yourself is the hardest but most important step. Once you take that leap, it gets easier, it becomes fun, and you start growing.
Listen in, decide to take action, and watch your confidence (and business!) transform.

With each year in business, I’m reminded that flexibility is the most meaningful return on investment.
This week on the podcast, I’m reflecting on the quieter parts of entrepreneurship — the moments that don’t make the highlight reel, but absolutely shape the way I live and work.
The ability to shift my schedule when life calls for it…
To be present for my family without sacrificing momentum…
To rest when my body needs it…
And to run a thriving business from anywhere.
These are the freedoms I’m most grateful for — and they’re the reason I built my business the way I did.
Inside this episode, I'm sharing:
• What true flexibility looks like as an entrepreneur
• How to build a business that bends around your life
• The small, everyday moments that matter most
• And real stories of CPSM grads who have created this same freedom for themselves
If you’re craving more control over your time, your energy, or your day-to-day life… I hope this episode gives you the encouragement you need to go after it.

In this week’s episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, we’re diving into a topic that so many entrepreneurs, parents, and busy people struggle with. How do you manage your time well, stay productive, and avoid burnout? I invited time management and productivity coach Ronna Belinky to join me because this is something that comes up again and again in our community.
Ronna specializes in helping people build simple, sustainable systems so they can manage their days with more intention and less stress. She focuses on awareness, habits, and clarity rather than trying to cram more into an already full schedule. Her approach is all about creating routines that support your life instead of adding pressure to it.
In our conversation, we talk about where to begin when everything feels important, how to create systems that actually work for you, and what it looks like to build your business in a way that feels steady and sustainable. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, distracted, or unsure how to prioritize, this episode will give you clarity and a practical path forward.

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Podcast, I’m joined by Doula Darcy, who helps birth and postpartum professionals build sustainable, freedom-filled businesses they truly love.
I was inspired to record this conversation with Darcy after I came across a post she shared online that said:“Being a doula is heart-centered work, but it shouldn’t cost you your health, family time, or financial stability.”
That message stopped me in my tracks because I see it all the time — doulas who adore their work but are exhausted by the long hours and the unpredictable on-call lifestyle.
In this conversation, Darcy explains why the traditional, in-person-only model just isn’t sustainable long term, and how her Hybrid Doula Business Model is helping doulas earn more, work less, and find balance again.
We discussed:
✨ Why only taking in-person clients can lead to burnout
✨ How sleep consulting fits perfectly into the hybrid business model for doulas
✨ The mindset shifts needed to create more freedom and stability
✨ Darcy’s best advice for doulas who want to make a change
If you’ve been looking for a way to continue supporting families while creating a bit more balance and freedom in your work, you’ll really enjoy this episode.

• What inspired her to begin mentoring other consultants
• How she is continuing to expand her reach and impact

When we talk about sleep consulting, we often focus on helping babies and toddlers sleep through the night, but in reality, we’re coaching parents through mindset shifts, confidence building, and new routines that can feel both exciting and intimidating at the same time.
In this week’s episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m joined by Sarah, a former client who came to me wanting a very gradual and parent-present approach. She was feeling cautious about making changes, and wanted to be sure her baby always felt supported and secure.
What unfolded was a powerful example of how blending empathy with accountability can lead to massive results. We simplified the process, made small yet sustainable changes, and celebrated every win along the way. Within two weeks, her baby was sleeping independently, and Sarah felt calm, confident, and proud of what we had accomplished together.

About a year ago, I sat down with my son, Sid, to record one of the most loved episodes of this podcast. We talked about what it’s like to have a mom who’s a sleep consultant, and people couldn’t get enough of it! So, we decided to do it again.
A lot can change in a year. Sid is now 13, a little older and a lot funnier, and I’ve grown another year in my business. Together, we thought it would be fun to revisit the conversation and share how life has evolved for both of us.
In this episode, Sid shares his perspective on what it’s like having a mom who works from home, how my flexible schedule impacts our family life, and some of the perks (and quirks) that come along with having a sleep consultant mom. We also talk about travel, freedom, and what it really means to build a business that allows me to show up as both a mom and an entrepreneur.
If you’ve ever wondered what this career looks like from a family’s point of view, or you’re thinking about becoming a sleep consultant yourself, this conversation will give you an honest, lighthearted peek behind the curtain.

The past few weeks have been full in the very best ways. Between the Jewish holidays, school closures, and celebrating my son’s bar mitzvah, September and early October have been a complete whirlwind.
Work has taken a bit of a back seat, but it hasn’t stopped. I’ve still been supporting families, checking in with CPSM students, and keeping things moving, just in a way that fits this season of life.
This is exactly why I built my business the way I did. It gives me the freedom to lean into family when I need to and the flexibility to pick things back up when life settles down.
That’s what this week’s podcast episode is all about. If you’ve ever dreamed of building a business that bends with your life instead of competing with it, I think this one will really resonate.

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I share the story of Mia, a 27-month-old who was battling bedtime, waking multiple times overnight, and climbing out of her crib. Her parents tried a crib tent, but it wasn’t safe, and it wasn’t solving the problem.
With a clear plan, lots of role play, and a fun technique called the Kissing Game, Mia quickly adjusted to her new sleep rules. Within days she was falling asleep confidently and independently, waiting for her OK-to-Wake clock, and making her parents proud.
This case is a great reminder that toddlers are often more capable than we give them credit for. With a heavy dose of communication and follow through, even the toughest toddler sleep struggles can turn into big wins.

• The biggest lessons she’s learned in her first year of working her business full time
• How reconnecting with her original purpose has shaped her business

On today’s episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m chatting with Val, a CPSM graduate who completed the program in January 2023.
Val started her sleep consulting journey as a side hustle, supporting families here and there while raising her three young children and working full time. Over time, her passion for this work grew, her confidence increased, and she took the leap into running her business full time.
In our conversation, Val shares:
• What it looked like to get started and land her first clients
• How she knew it was time to transition from side hustle to full-time business
• The challenges and rewards of balancing work while raising three little ones
• The strategies that have helped her grow her business and continue to support more families
Val’s story is such a great reminder that it is possible to build a business that not only provides financial stability, but also flexibility to be present at home.
This episode is a must-listen if you’re ready to see what’s possible when you go all in on sleep consulting.

When I first enrolled in a sleep consultant certification program, it gave me the information I needed, but it lacked something important: connection.
No personal welcome. No opportunity to build a relationship with the course creator. And I’ve found the same to be true in other programs I’ve joined over the years.
Center for Pediatric Sleep Management is different. From the very beginning, my goal has been for every student to feel seen, heard, and supported. CPSM was built on connection, and that same value guides the way I run my business every day.
In this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m sharing why connection matters so much, not just in online education, but in any business. Parents don’t just want a plan. They want you.

• How she got started in sleep consulting while continuing her teaching career
• The strategies and mindset shifts that fueled her steady business growth
• The lessons she’s learned about balancing two careers and still making an impact
If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s possible to build a successful consulting business part-time, Lauren’s story will inspire you to see what’s possible.
