White Denialism - An analysis of Julius Malema’s Court proceedings

In this Podcast, I analyze the recent court proceedings between Afri-forum and the EFF.

I talk to how concepts like White Fragility, White Supremacy, centering of the White experience as more important, the denial of structural and systematic historical context and the weaponizing of ideas and laws that were meant to eradicate racism and White Supremacy to further entrench it.

Black Women in the Workplace - with Busisiwe Hlatswayo
The Toxicity of the Tone Policing on Black Women in the workplace.

In this Podcast, I talk about the toxicity of tone policing in the Workplace and it’s link to White Fragility.

The burden it places on people of color to self police how they speak out when they are being harmed. I also discuss the additional burden that is placed on Black people to assure White liberals that they don’t think they are racist. Because White liberals often equate racism with extremist racist people. I make a point that it is natural for any white people to have racial prejudice against black people because of white supremist/colonial conditioning.

I make reference to the fact that I myself am homophobic and fat phobic not because I hate queer people or fat people of which I fall in the scale but because I am a product of a society that taught me that.

How Liberal White People's ways of being harmful to Black Women in the Workplace.

In this Podcast, I talk about how white people who see themselves as non-racist, as people who don’t see colour are oblivious to the ways they continue to harm black people both emotionally and financially, especially when they are in a position of power.  I don't believe in binary thinking, so I don't believe that white people are other good or bad. There are good, liberal white people who don't want to be racist and mean well, AND because of their colonial heritage, have to acknowledge that they are conditioned to be act in ways that are harmful to black people, albeit unintentional. I  recommend that white people do their work of engaging with the guilt and shame of coming from a lineage of Colonizers and how that has shaped their worldview and specifically how they view black people and people of color.

Is The Price You Pay for Being Authentic Way Too High?

In this video, I discuss Authenticity vs Pragmatism in the workplace. Women are often told that they have to demonstrate more masculine behaviours in order to be considered competent leaders in the workplace, while black women, in particular, say that they find it mentally exhausting to have to be someone else in the workplace. What do you do, do you choose authenticity and pay the price or do you choose to assimilate and all the mental health issues that come with that?
