A big episode this week....so the notes will be just thatThe story of the week isn't a fight. It is Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis who will no longer fight. That also means the undercard is off, and the fight week prelims featuring Jahmal Harvey are off. We give our thoughts on this. That is followed by the weekend recap including the following, Mikaela Mayer becoming a three-division world champion, defeating Mary Spencer. Mayer is clearly a Hall of Famer, and added to her legacy, Joshua Buatsi looked average against Zach Parker, honestly neither looked good, we talk about it, and Lenier Pero defeated Jordan Thompson in a fight that lacked sizzle. On that Florida-based DAZN card, Omari Jones continues to look good, and Yoelvis Gomez and Antraveous Ingram fought to a draw. The big fight of the weekend is on Saturday with Vergil Ortiz returning against Erickson Lubin. Ortiz is becoming one of the most important up-and-coming fighters, and Lubin is a lot better than people think. Both are also punchers. The undercard has some notable bouts, including Darius Fulghum taking on David Stevens. It is a battle of former sparring partners who are both signed by Golden Boy Promotions. Middleweight Amari Jones make his Golden Boy Promotions debut, cruiserweight Robin Safar is featured on the card and heavyweight U.S. Olympian Joshua Edwards will be on the card, too.Also, on Friday, ProBox TV returns with a good one Nicklaus Flaz and Tiger Johnson face each other in a welterweight contender bout. To me, this creates a top-five contender in the thin division. Junior lightweight Dominic Valle returns in a 10-round bout. He is a top prospect/fringe contender, and Katsuma Akitsugi will face Vincent Astrolabio in a good contender bout. Also on DAZN, Friday night, Justin Figueroa and Otto Wallin will be featured. I didn't see this coming, nor did many. Fabio Wardley stops Joseph Parker. WOW! Hear our thoughts on the stoppage, plus Dakota goes on a rant about Parker not getting a chance against a champion. We don't have much to say about he undercard as well. We also talk about Joshua Pagan's impressive win over Maliek Montgomery on DAZN Thursday night. On Thursday, Mikaela Mayer faces junior middleweight beltholder Mary Spencer for the title. The bout will be streamed and we will explain how to watch. It has a good undercard with Arthur Biyarslanov taking on Sergey Lipinets, and Wilkens Mathieu facing Shakeel Phinn as noteworthy bouts. On Saturday, we have two fight cards, one in the U.S. and one in Europe. In the U.K., Joshua Buatsi will face Zach Parker in a light heavyweight contender bout, and Bradley Rea will fight Lyndon Arthur in a light heavyweight bout. In the U.S., rising heavyweight contender Lenier Pero will face Jordan Thompson. Thompson is moving up after being stopped by Jai Opetaia. Pero could be a real force. Other fights, a crossroads junior middleweight bout between Yoelvis Gomez against Antraveous Ingram. Cruiserweight Pat Brown will face fringe contender Felix Valera in an interesting bout. The fight was world-class and is a credit to MVP as this is the type of bout two-to-three years ago, that would be buried on an undercard or not shown at all.In the co-feature, Omar Juarez broke down Omar Rosario to win 10-round UD, but Juarez's younger brother, Sebastian, was the star of the night. Sebastian Juarez was dropped in the first round, lost a point, only to stop Demarcus Layton, in what pretty clearly was the 'Round of the Year'Other notables on this card: Unified women's middleweight champion Desley Robinson stopped Logan Holler in two rounds, and super middleweight Ronny Alvarez is a bad boy, as he looked like a 21-year-old Cuban fighter who can move up the ranks fast. In L.A., Albert Gonzalez defeated Leonardo Baez, as he continues to be my No.1 prospect in the sport. Other Top Rank fighters featured on the card were Andres Cortes and Elvis Rodriguez, who both got wins. Perla Bazaldua and Yazmin Martinez Jimenez fought to a draw. In the U.K., George Liddard became a major player as he stopped Kieron Conway in a fun fight, Shannon Ryan defeated Chloe Watson after Watson suffered an eye injury early in the fight The bout went to the cards. Tiah Mai Ayton and Jimmy Sains also got stoppage wins. This week...we have the WBC Grand Prix tournament taking place. One of the more fun events that we have seen in some time. Thursday, Salita Promotions returns in Puerto Rico with a great main event between unbeaten Joshua Pagan and Maliek Montgomery. Ashleyann Lozada vs. Melissa Oddessa Parker is a solid co-feature at women's middleweight. Then, the big fight on DAZN pay-per-view. Joseph Parker will face Fabio Wardley. The winner would face Oleksandr Usyk at some point if Usyk decides to continue boxing. The undercard is as regional as it gets as Lewis Edmondson vs. Ezra Taylor, but not much else stands out. Contender alert: Rene Calixto Bibiano will face Hasanboy Dusmatov in an IBF flyweight eliminator fight. In this episode, Dakota and Lukie talk about Jaron "Boots" Ennis' first-round knockout over Uisma Lima. How good is Ennis? We discuss in the lead. Also, Keith Thurman and Sebastian Fundora will no longer fight at he end of October.Then, heavyweight Guido Vianello knocked out Alexis Barriere, with thoughts on Tahmir Smalls' win over Jose Roman and Dennis Thompson's close fight with Sean Diaz. A fight I think could be good is Shannon Ryan versus Chloe Watson, which is an evenly matched bout. On Saturday, Danny Garcia will fight for the final time in his career against Daniel Gonzalez. Light heavyweight Umar Dzambekov gets another win, is he a contender? Cain Sandoval rolled to a victory where is he in the division? Also, "Right Hook Roxy" continues to look impressive, and Daniel "Chucky" Barrera defeated Mario Hernandez. Then, we go to the U.K. to talk about featherweight Nathaniel Collins versus Cristobal Lorente, which was a lot of fun. Also, Willy Hutchinson defeated Mark Jeffers on the undercard. Cecelia Braekhus defeated Ema Kozin to retire as a unified champion. Braekhus was the best women's boxer at a period of time when people didn't care. We pay tribute to her career. Angel Fierro lost a disqualification to Abraham Cordero after kicking him in a perceived bounce-back fight in Mexico. In this episode, we talk about Gabriela Fundora getting a stoppage of Alexas Kubicki. Fundora, the undisputed women's flyweight champ, is now riding a three-fight knockout streak. After Saturday, it is clear that she is not an undercard fighter.Oscar Collazo, the unified 105lbs champion, stopped Jayson Vayson in a strange stoppage. First off, Collazo looked limited at points in the fight, and Vayson's corner stopped the bout in the seventh, with the fight seemingly being competitive. We will also briefly touch on Ruslan Abdullaev, Gael Cabrera, Grant Flores, and Joel Iriarte, who stood out on the undercard. Salita Promotions had a solid card on Friday with Brandon Moore showing good composure to outbox DeAndre Savage. This is Moore's third undefeated fighter he has beaten in a row. Are we sleeping on Moore's potential? The best fight of the week saw Olivia Curry and Kaye Scott fight to a majority draw, meaning the unified vacant titles on the line will remain vacant. WBC women's featherweight champ Tiara Brown defended her title, but a mild shocker, Wesley Ferrer, upset Giovanni Marquez in Marquez's hometown of Houston. This week, ProBox TV returns with light heavyweight contender Najee Lopez taking on Kalvin Henderson, and junior middleweight Emiliano Moreno taking on Raul Garcia. Other notables to watch for on this card are Emilio Garcia, Kevin Anton, and Anthony Cuba vs Jorge de Jesus. On DAZN, IBF women's 105lbs champ Sol Cudos will head to Canada to face recent Most Valuable Promotions' signee, Kim Clavel.
