Nehmen Sie sich Zeit beim Erlernen der Übungen und versuchen Sie, die jeweiligen Übungsteile jeden Tag einmal anzuwenden, bis Sie das Gefühl haben, diesen Übungsabschnitt zu beherrschen und die Formeln verinnerlicht zu haben. Dabei ist eines ganz wichtig: Geduld mit sich zu haben, denn es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen! Das Autogene Training (oder auch konzentrative Selbstentspannung) ist ein weltweit anerkanntes Entspannungsverfahren, Die Methode wurde in den 20iger Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts vom Psychiater Johannes Heinrich Schultz entwickelt. Wie bei letztendlich allen Entspannungsverfahren lässt sich auch das Autogene Training auf zwei wesentliche Grundprinzipien zurückführen: Die eigene Körperwahrnehmung wird geschult und verbessert. Außerdem werden suggestive Verfahren werden dafür genutzt, um z.B. eine entspanntere Muskulatur herbei zu führen und diese schneller und intensiver zu spüren. Mit dem eigenen Bewusstsein, also mit den eigenen suggestiven (d. h. selbst beeinflussenden) Kräften kann man seine körperliche und seelische Entspannung hervorrufen. Man ist also in der Lage, mit autosuggestiven (sich selbt beeinflussenden) Formeln, seinen Körper und Geist in einen Zustand tiefer Entspannung zu bringen.
