How does your house become a home? Answers are plentiful as we think of our earthly dwelling. For believers, we are also part of God’s household, that’s the church. So here’s the question for 2026…is our church a place where Christ desires to inhabit? Is He welcome here? As we begin 2026, let’s consider key biblical ingredients that make up a healthy church.

In fearful & dark times, the promise of someone’s presence is always invaluable. Whether it’s a child who fears the dark at bedtime and needs their parents’ promise and presence or an adult who is looking into the unknown of their future. Today, we go back to the OT Christmas promise of God’s presence to God’s people in a fearful & spiritually dark time. Much to learn today at our Christmas service!

How many times a day do you say or think to yourself, “I’m hungry?” Our bodies let us know when they need sustenance. Without food, we die. After Jesus heals the lame man on the Sabbath, the card-carrying legalist get all bent out of shape. Rather than backing down, Jesus doubles down on his identity as God’s Son. Today, Jesus continues to make more bold claims about His identity. Let’s open God’s Word and ask the questions: Who do we say Jesus is and are we willing to submit to His authority?

Most people would try just about anything to cure themselves of a sickness or malady. We see so many products on our feeds claiming to heal us, make us healthier, younger, etc.…Today, Jesus seeks out a man who has been an invalid for most of his life and is superstitiously seeking healing. What will Jesus do? What does the person in need have to do? What will others say?

In the gospel of John, we have seen Jesus extend His grace to the religiously & morally respectable insider. But, what about the unbelieving & immoral outsiders? Are they outside of his mission as the long-expected Messiah? Are they unredeemable? Let’s open God’s word this morning and find out!

People love to hear that Jesus loves us unconditionally, but are triggered by the idea that only Jesus can bring us to God. Why is that? Let’s explore both of these things in the most famous verse in the Bible and remember how great our God really is!

Most good things in life come through hard work. But does that mentality translate to our relationship with God? Do we work hard to earn favor with God? The Scriptures encourage us to be witnesses to the person & work of Jesus. A witness is someone who testifies to what they have seen & heard. In life, there are people who "stand out" above the crowd. We often marvel at this, talk about it, but it naturally doesn't change much about our lives. But, when we look at the person & work of Jesus, there is no one like Him. But, Jesus isn't just looking for fans, He's looking for followers. In what ways is Jesus "1 of 1?" And, why is this significant in our life?

A world of darkness and chaos forms the backdrop of a light that makes sense of it all. Jesus is that light and those who are born again can see it clearly.

If you asked 10 people on the street who they thought Jesus was, you might get 10 different answers. But, the apostle John makes who Jesus is as clear as day in the opening words of his gospel. As we begin our new study in the book of John, let’s discover or remember why Jesus is worthy to be believed and trusted.
