Summer Sweat | Even More BIG-ASS Circuit Beats
Happy 4th of July!  Hope your holiday isn't as rain-soaked as it has been here in Georgia.  I just got back from a morning run to Dicky Doo's Diner, an awesome place for a great southern breakfast that's not processed, frozen, and then reheated.  It's the real deal.  Sadly, I was dripping wet as another storm came through and it was pouring.  But hey, don't allow my misery get in the way of holiday fun.

I'm kinda surprised nobody has picked up on the cover art for these two sets.  I decided to have a little fun this go-around.  The hot guys were picked up from some Brazilian model website (yes, I like my Latin men) and then I decided to give these a magazine layout feel.  If any of you are familiar with the Men's Health magazines, I pretty much copied their layout format and just filled in the headlines with my own fun-filled titles.  Oh well, I thought they came out fantastic but no big deal.

As for this set, it's what you would come to expect.  BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER ...STRONGER!

Hope ya'll have a fantabulous holiday!  I'll be back next week with the next installment of Beach Party featuring summer's must-have EDM hits.

Until then ...ENJOY!

Holiday Edition 2008 Volume 3
It looks like there wasn't enough for a 4th mix, so this will be the final installment of the Holiday Edition 2008.  There's some tough love going on in this mix, perfect for your peak-hour enjoyment.  Watch out for the Nicki Richards tune; quite possibly the first anthem for 2009.  Another one I'm really getting into is  Sweet Feet Music feat. Soul Sista Shakti with Jeanie Tracy & Pepper Mashay "Maybe God Is Tryin' To Tell You Somethin'".  Packed with exceptional mixes from start to finish, there's not a bad mix in the bunch.  I don't know what it is but there's something about Gays, God, and Gospel that melds together really well.  Expect a Klubjumpers remix as part of a 2nd round of mixes in early January.

Speaking of Klubjumpers, check out the ultra HOT remix they turned in for the classic "I Can't Get No Sleep 2008" by India.  Careful, you may burn yourself in the process.  Altogether, this is one solid set from start to finish.  You'll notice a little bonus at the end of the mix by Kristine W.  Just a little Christmas something for those of you traveling this year to your holiday destination.

I'll be wrapping up a Christmas present for the House heads which I'll deliver on Christmas Eve and day.  Until then, I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday, however you may celebrate it.  Take care and I'll be back at the end of next week for a series of year-end mixes to round out the year.  From my house to yours...Merry Christmas and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Holiday Edition 2008 Volume 2
I admit it, I recycled this pic from the one I used earlier for DJ Manikz.  However, his had a pumpkin with a Halloween theme; so I changed it up to fit the season.  In fact, the next cover will also be aped from one I did about three years ago.  I figured since no one had ever seen it, unless you've been browsing my Flickr site, then who would know the difference?  Besides, I'll change that one up as well.  Recycling is a good thing, or so I'm told...LOL.
Moving along and trying to get these mixes knocked out before the weekend's up I now bring you the 2nd installment of the Holiday Edition 2009.  I may be late getting up the third mix tomorrow, but I'll do my best.  I've got some things going on so a little patience is all that I'm asking.  As a reminder, don't forget to submit your year-end picks via email.  I've only received one so far.  So, unless you want me and Discoball picking the year-end tunes, then you better get it in as soon as possible.  The deadline is Sunday and I will not accept anything after that.
Now, on to the music...

Holiday Edition 2008 Volume 1

It's looking like this might end up as a four-mix set, so I decided to go ahead and start rolling the mixes out for the Holiday Edition 2009.  I'm not completely sure about the fourth mix, but just in case...Anyway, I'll be putting these out each day through the weekend.

As promised, I kept the mixes down in size, though I wasn't able to get this one under the 80-minute mark, I think everyone will live.  There are definitely several HOT tunes in this mix and I thought I might get back to my short reviews of each song; so here goes...
Album : Holiday Edition v1
Genre : Circuit, Progressive, Tribal
Year : 2008
Total Time : 1:27:09.00
Track : 1
Title : I Stay In Love (Jody Den Broeder Club Mix)
Artist : Mariah Carey
I wasn't really feeling the Ralphi mixes of this song, however I totally love that Jody is showing us a funkier side of his production skills.  In fact, he does it again on Leann Rimes' "What I Cannot Change".  However, since I didn't want to get to early hour in this mix, I opted for the Bronleewe & Bose Extended Mix instead.  Frankly, I'm just glad that Sony finally got around to releasing some more mixes from Mariah.  Her album has not done as well as they had hoped, but her fans still want to hear her on the dancefloor.  Essential.
Track : 2
Title : Feels So Good (Klubjumpers Club Mix)
Artist : Sean Ensign
Klubjumpers appear to be the 'IT' guys of the moment.  Sean's association with them has turned out another solid floor thumper.  Catchy as hell, there's no doubt this will keep the boys movin'.  Outstanding.
Track : 3
Title : Sandcastle Disco (Escape & Coluccio Club Mix)
Artist : Solange
The other 'IT' guys of the moment are Escape & Coluccio; for that matter DJ Escape and anyone he produces with.  Beyonce's baby sister is on fire with her second single which is currently #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart.  Equally exceptional is the Freemasons remix of this song featured in my Halloween Edition (Take 3).  Essential.
Track : 4
Title : Hell No (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Club Mix)
Artist : Judy Torres
I thought I'd never say this, but I miss Tony & Warren.  After inundating us with mix after mix from last year's "The Event", they pretty much oversaturated the clubs with their big room sound.  After taking some time off, their back with a remix of this ultra hot Judy Torres tune.  With it's call out hook "HELL NO" this song is irresistible no matter what the remix.  Tony brings back his big room production style and applies it to great effect on this song.  Essential.
Track : 5
Title : Roots Before Branches (Almighty Extended Mix)
Artist : Room For Two
Almighty, the kings (or queens) of Euro power pop for the dancefloor are as relevant now as they were in the late 90s and early millennia.  With it's big production style, amazing vocals and over the top drama, this mix borders on commercial trance that finds the hook and utilizes it to great effect.  Unfortunately, I don't think this song will be the big hit it deserves to be.  Why?  No one has really picked up on it, at least not yet.  So, I'm challenging everyone to drop this in the middle of a set and see if it don't drive those queens mad!  Essential.
Track : 6
Title : Feel It 2008 (The Mac Project Remix)
Artist : The Tamperer feat. Maya
Updated classic from 1998.  Daddy Mac retains all of the original elements making it even bigger than I remember it.  Essential.
Track : 7

Circuit & Anthems by Party Favorz
Halloween Edition 2008 Volume 3
I decided to go ahead and put this out a day early because I'm going to be busy most of the afternoon and expect to be spending Thursday in the hospital being poked and prodded.  Friday I get a reprieve but have to go back on Saturday for about 6 hours worth of MRI's.  I had been in pretty extreme pain for about two weeks, and those dumb-ass doctors wouldn't give me painkillers (something most doctors are reluctant to do here in the states since it's heavily regulated and they have to account for and justify the prescription).  Anyway, they finally put me on steroids which seems to work just fine, but even then they didn't give me enough to get through the day.  Three pills a day lasts about 8 hours before I need to take it again.  I am generally persistent until I get what I want, but won't pursue it until I'm about out.  Hopefully, the results from all these tests (most I'm certain unnecessary, but when you're insured to the hilt...) will be in this next week.
Oh well, my misery is your gain.  After all, there's enough here that I could have spun off a separate mix, but that would require another cover and I couldn't find another image that was high quality and embodied the spirit of the holiday (at least after I was through with it).  As you can see above, this ones takes the cake from the previous two as this guy truly looks like Lucifer waiting to seduce you into some sadistic orgy.  Ah hell, sign me up...LOL.
The beginning of the mix starts where take 2 left off before turning seriously deeper and darker.  No need to worry, it eventually evolves back into the electro with some mainstream goodies that had showed up in earlier editions and are just now packing the floors.  I'm really proud of the overall mixes, including the flow and diversity.
A couple of other things of note; as you can see I'm pretty much finished updating the site.  I've got a couple of minor things to fix, but nothing too big.  I've also re-added the chat box on the lower left-hand side for those that seem to be shy about using the comment section of the site.  If you wanna give it another shot, I removed (for now) the word verification (I personally hate that) to make it easier to post.  I'll leave it that way as long as I don't start getting a bunch of drive-by bots posting crap in the comments section.  I've just started digging into next week's House Edition or as I would like to call it "Obama's Victory Funky Mix" and boy oh boy is this gonna be the SH!TS!  It's chalk full of new and old funky, disco house that's sure to have your toes tapping and your booty shaking.  Now that's something to celebrate!
That's all I got for now; sorry I don't plan on reviewing the songs this go around, I've been up all night putting this together and probably should get some sleep soon.  I hope everyone enjoys these mixes as much as I did making them since I worked my ass off (probably more than usual).  I also hope everyone has a safe and hauntingly fabulous Halloween, and I'll be back early this next week with the first of four mixes for Obama's Victory Mix.  Oh yeah, Sunday is my birthday, so if ya wanna give me a shout out, that would be nice.  I'll catch everyone later...ENJOY!

Update:  Well I just got up and it's 2:00 in the afternoon.  It looks like I finally got the mix uploaded and now need to shower and grab a bite before heading out.  Geez, uploading has become such a chore lately, it's taking forever.  Thanks, Comcast...it's Comcraptic!

Halloween Edition 2008 Volume 2
As promised, I've got the second installment of the Halloween Edition.  I hope everyone has their costumes put together for Friday's celebration.  In keeping with the theme, I'm serving up one wicked ass mix!  Surprisingly, I don't have much to say at the moment, so I'll just let it speak for itself.  I'll be back Thursday with the final installment, which is massive, to say the least; so make room, cause that will be one big MF!
On another note, you may have heard that Jennifer Hudson recently lost her mother, brother, and nephew to a horrible tragedy in Chicago.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family during this difficult time, and it is my hope that justice is rendered in this tragic situation.
Peace.

Circuit & Anthems by Party Favorz
Halloween Edition 2008 Volume 1
As we move closer to the end of October and deeper into autumn, everyone's favorite time of the year to get freaky is just around the corner.  Of course, I'm talking about Halloween.  It's a time of chills and thrills and the opportunity for many to live out their fantasies, if only for one night.  Frankly, I've never been one to get all excited about dressing up for the occasion.  I'm not really sure why; but, it sure is fun to go out to the bars and check everyone out in their wildest costumes.  I think the last time I dressed up was some years ago when I came home from college and went out with some friends to one of the new bars that had just opened up.  My friend Tery was bartending that night and he and his partner were dressed up as Captain Kirk and Lieutenant O'Whora!  The Lieutenant had strapped on a Dolly Parton-size bra and filled it with these humongous water balloons.  She'd be behind the bar just shaking those things as fast as she could whip up a Cosmo.

Another friend Robbie dressed up as a prince (flawless considering he had his housekeeper sew it for him) and Steve and Eloy a couple who owned a high-end salon, dressed up as matching honey bees, also handmade and ingenious if not cute.  I was wearing a brand new purple Axis shirt that I had bought in Dallas just before coming down, some black Girbauds, and black leather lace-up casual sneakers (I forget what the brand was, not that it matters) that I picked up at my dad's store earlier in the day.  When asked what I was, I simply stated that I came as a grape.  The first response was "honey, we already knew that because you lost your cherry a long, long time ago"!  I kinda expected that one, but not over and over again all night.  I left by midnight and went clubbing in Mexico with some friends.  Good thing I did, because that was the night of the infamous stripper squatting on a bottle of Bud.  The place got raided and was shut down for good.  Glad I missed out on that one!  Now, I'm not telling you this story to bum you out on Halloween, go out and have fun, be yourself, or better yet, be whoever you want to be, just don't carry it over into work as they may not appreciate that side of you.  You better believe I'll be checking out all the freaks on Friday!  I wouldn't miss it for the world.
So here it is...my first Halloween Edition since starting this blog.  Actually, my first in a long time, since last year I did a Fall Edition and the year before was my Decadence Edition in place of Halloween.  I've loaded it with all sorts of goodies for my kiddies.  While the first two mixes lean heavily toward the Circuit crowd, I wouldn't discount them too quickly.  There are some real gems in here and you never know when you might find a treat.  Let's face it, you'll treasure your treats longer than that trick you end up regretting the next day.  By the end of the second mix, you'll see that it takes a different direction which carries on into the third mix (the one I think everyone will be all over).  Ultimately, you get a lot of tribal and progressive mixed in with some funky, electro, mainstream, and even a trance number at the end.  Overall, I'm really proud of the final outcome and worked really hard putting this together for you guys, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.
I'll be dispensing a new mix every other day until Thursday.  That should give everyone planning their Halloween events enough time to digest the music and decide if that will be your soundtrack for that fabulous party you're going to throw.  You know, the one where anyone that's someone WILL be attending.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll be back on Tuesday with take 2 of the mix...until then, ENJOY!

Summer Edition 2008 Volume 2
...and finally we wrap up the summer circuit scene with the v2 mix of the Summer Edition.  All I can say is HOT!  In fact, just as hot as the guy on the cover...yummy!  If you're looking to cool down, this ain't the place.  I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I'll do my best to be back next weekend with the long overdue Deep Edition.  ENJOY!

Album : Summer Edition v2
Genre : Circuit, Tribal, Progressive
Year : 2008
Total Time : 1:19:49:00
Track : 1
Title : Ready For This (South Lovers Drumma Re-rub)
Artist : Edson Pride

Track : 2
Title : Deeper (Original Mix)
Artist : Nick Terranova

Track : 3
Title : Control Yourself (Michael T Diamond Immediate Release Mix)
Artist : Erin Hamilton
The 2nd round of mixes came out a couple of weeks ago and contains Manny's vocal version, which still rules.  However, everyone has been clamoring about the Michael T. Diamond mix and rightfully so.  I can't remember the last time Michael has served us a production.  Apparently, he's still in fine form taking 'Control Yourself' in a completely different direction than any of the mixes between the two discs.  He manages to strip the big tribal beats out in favor of a more electronic approach which was perfect for transitioning to the electro atmosphere of this mix.  Outstanding!
Track : 4
Title : Into The Nightlife (Soul Seekerz Vocal Club Mix)
Artist : Cyndi Lauper
One of my favorite songs from Cyndi's new album.  While there's also an outstanding mix by Jody DB, the Soul Seekerz muster up a little more energy than his.  Either way, you can't go wrong as both do a great job maintaining the essence of the original.  "Shirtless wonders in my sight...under the light"...deliciously ESSENTIAL!
Track : 5
Title : Disco Lies (Freemasons Club Mix)
Artist : Moby
Looks like the Freemasons may be finishing up work on Beyonce's next album.  We're finally being treated to some of their work on a handful of mixes this summer.  Good thing, because 7th Heaven and Soul Seekerz have been on FIRE and successfully taking up their slack.  I'm guessing this may have been done for the UK release of this single, since it wasn't available on the US version.  Frankly, this beats them all hands down.  Sorry Spencer & Hill.  Essential.
Track : 6
Title : Middle Of The Dancefloor (Ranny's Miami Dub)
Artist : Jipsta
New York native Jipsta is at it again with his own brand of "homohop" (the breeding of circuit meets hip hop).  While Edson did the honors again, it's Ranny's mix that steals the show moving it in a more electribe groove that better suits the song.  For those that haven't heard the full vocal version, you should check it out as he flips the gender table around from traditional hip-hop songs.  Fun & FIERCE!
Track : 7
Title : Shut Up And Let Me Go (Johnny Vicious Warehouse Dub)
Artist : The Ting Tings
All it took was an iPod commercial and this little 2 piece indie band out of the UK have exploded into mainstream consciousness.  With great stripped down garage pop like "Great DJ", "That's Not My Name" and "Shut Up and Let Me Go" what's not to like?  It's all about the guitar, bass and drum with a lot of attitude.  Johnny clearly captures that vibe in his Warehouse Dub, shifting the original jangly tune to the electronic dancefloor.  Outstanding.
Track : 8
Title : Fame (Twisted Dee's NYC High School For The Arts Peak Time Club Mix)
Artist : DJ Bill Bennett & Suzanne Palmer
We had a sneak peak of the Edson Pride mix back in May on my First Splash Edition, and now the first set of mixes are out with Twisted Dee taki...

Circuit & Anthems by Party Favorz
Summer Edition 2008 Volume 1
First and foremost, I want to thank Alex, Joseph, Nick, David V, David J, Klaus, and my good friend Glenn a.k.a. discoball for answering my call for help.  Without it, I would have been forced to suspend this site for a while.  That being said, with the kind of numbers Party Favorz has been drawing over the past several months and the disproportionate amount of downloads vs. contributors, it's a shame that people can't lend a hand to something they clearly enjoy.  There's a lot more work that goes into this site than you could ever imagine.
For now, my plans are to keep the status quo as far as the site is concerned, though I will continue to look for ways to draw some type of revenue stream that would allow me to remove everything from my budget into one that solely exists for continuing operations.  As I've previously stated, I'm not looking to get rich, just the ability to cover any costs associated with maintaining this site.
If you look to your left, you'll see I already have the cover art for the next several mixes up, so you know what to expect during the month of August.  The only one missing is a cross-promotional mix I'll be making for Electroqueer out of the UK for their upcoming fall bash in London.  Though I plan on getting everything released between now and Labor Day (September 1st), I won't make any promises.  After that, I'll be sending out invitations to other DJs who want to promote their own site or their work while I take a rest.
Another thing I need to mention is that all links on this site including iTunes will be down until Sunday or so.  My anal retentive self moved everything over from kjamproductions.podbean.com to partyfavorz.podbean.com over the past couple of days.  I now need to go back and update all of the links on this site and re-associate my new listing with iTunes.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm guessing most everybody has already downloaded what they want from previous posts.  If there's something you gotta have now, head on over to my Podbean account and you can get it there.
That being said, I've got my Summer Edition finally wrapped up.  Once listening to both mixes you'll notice that the worlds of electro and tribal are merging and the electro-pop/funk stuff is really coming into its own.  While there's always room for the standard circuit sound, this new direction of mixing it up really works and keeps things fresh.  Wait till you hear the second slice of this mix, which will be posted tomorrow.  Even I was blown away by the final result.  For now, take what you can and as always...Enjoy!

Title : Hot Stuff (Let's Dance) (Eddies Anthem Mix)
Artist : Craig David
I've always like Craig David.  He's good looking, has a great voice and was making some smart and sexy R&B tunes.  It looks like his label is getting antsy and is grilling him for a major breakthrough hit.  That's not to say the original is a bad song, because it's not.  Borrowing heavily from David Bowie's 1983 smash "Let's Dance" Craig re-writes the entire song and moves into Usher territory.  Eddie kicks it up 10 notches with his electribe take of the tune creating a big room electro stormer.  While I wouldn't call this essential, it sure is a lot of fun.
Track : 2
Title : Break Me (Chris Cox Vocal Mix)
Artist : Tina Sugandh
I had to go and dig up some stuff on Tina, and all I can say is WOW!  With roots firmly steeped in India, this girl is fracking HOT!  The vocals play heavily on her Indian heritage, but it works almost to the point that you might confuse her with Inez.  Nevertheless, it could take a few listens for you to come around.  If not, check out Chris' 'Dub To Club Mix' instead.

Gay Pride Edition 2008 Volume 4
Well, this is the fourth and final installment of the 2008 Pride Edition.  As promised, I went much lighter on this mix.  Altogether, you'll find it to be fun, funky and full of camp, just the kinda a sing-a-long frivolity that gay gatherings are all about.  I decided to bring this out a day earlier so I can wrap things up and take a much-needed break.  Last week I stated that the majority of Pride events were in full swing, when in fact it's this week.  I don't know, sometimes I think I live on Planet B (blonde).  Oh well, I can't be on top of everything all the time.
Anywho, If I'm lucky, I'll have the next Electro-Funk Edition ready to go next weekend.  If not, you guys may just have to wait another week.  My plate has loaded up again, so I'll be trying to juggle my adult duties with my playtime.  When I do come back, I've got some big changes in store.  I've started working on a whole new look and feel for the site that should be fresh and funky.  I'm hoping to debut the new look at the same time, but I'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.
Those of you who are celebrating Pride or still have yet to start the festivities in your area (like Atlanta), live your life and be free, gay and happy...yeah, I'm starting to like that phrase.  I should be checking back in sometime after the 4th, so until then...Enjoy!

Gay Pride Edition 2008 Volume 3
This weekend, the majority of Pride events will be taking place from coast to coast.  As such, it's fitting that I have my 3rd installment of my Pride Edition up and ready to go.  Get ready for some serious BIG, BAM, BOOM! in this mix.  I want to give a shout out and big thanks to DJ 7Up for sliding my a copy of the unreleased Manny Lehman mix of Lady GaGa's "Just Dance".  By substituting that song for something I considered ordinary and run of the mill, it took an outstanding mix and essentially made it excellent.
Some of you may have noticed that the Beatport Pride Edition was a little shrill, especially at the beginning.  Considering that the songs were free, I can't complain too much.  However, I did go back and put it through Platinum Notes which analyzes the mix and then makes the necessary pitch and dynamic adjustments.  I don't use this software often, because it's not always dead on and can actually ruin individual songs.  If I encounter a problem with the original track, I generally prefer to do it myself.  Since this mix was a last-minute project, I did it the other way to save time and to finish up this mix.  I do believe any issues with the original sound quality have now been corrected.
Speaking of which, the Allan Natal mix of Madonna's 'Give It 2 Me' is a 'private' mix that was not picked up by Warner.  As a result, there was no incentive for Allan to go back and do a final mixdown.  Much like the Collette and Basstoy tracks on the Beatport mix, it was very shrill.  So I went back and manually lowered the frequencies and corrected any pitch problems along with some other anomalies.  So, any complaints from people who don't ever contribute to this site and just download all the time will be ignored.  I'm not trying to be an asshole, but with almost 25,000 hits since November (when this site began) and over 10,000 downloads between Podbean and my 4shared account, you'd think people might be a little more appreciative, especially in the U.S.  You folks out in New Jersey, New York, Illinois, Florida, Alabama, Colorado, and Texas shouldn't be such strangers.  I see the same cities and states every week downloading the mixes, but never a peep out of you until something displeases you.  It would be nice to have you folks make some general comments and suggestions about what you like and/or dislike or as to how I can make this site better.  While this is only a suggestion, it would sure be nice to hear from you guys.
While I'm at it, several people have emailed me requesting the cover art without the watermark.  Sorry folks, it ain't gonna happen.  In fact, starting in July, I will be adding my ID to all future mixes.  It's unfortunate and wasn't something I wanted to do, but a certain situation here locally made it a necessity.  I'd suggest that anyone who wants to pass off my hard work as their own, actually work harder at doing what I enjoy doing and start trying to improve your own skills.  Enough said.
For those of you who aren't quite into this big room sound and were wondering where are all the fun, funky and camp songs?  No need to worry.  Next weeks final installment is all about feeling free, gay and happy!  It should probably be called 'Party Favorz TrackBack' mix since it contains all the fun songs that have been high on my gaydar since the beginning of the year.  Instead of a song here or there, you get it all in one mix.
For now, I hope those of you celebrating Pride, have a great weekend, as I'm certain I will be doing this next week (if I don't go on vacation).  So feed your pod and grab it to go before heading out this weekend...and as always, ENJOY!

Gay Pride Edition 2008 Volume 2
Welcome to part two of my 2008 Pride series.  The only thing you need to know about this mix is that it's all about the DRAMA!  You know us queens just love to be overly dramatic, and this mix fits the bill.  From top to bottom, this should put even the dourest person in a good mood.
I've pretty much got my set list together for the third mix, though I'm still waiting for the much-delayed 'Fame' remixes by DJ Bill Bennett.  Hopefully, Sony will stick to their promise and release them next week (fingers crossed).  If you are a Sony rep or Bill's manager, feel free to cop me an advance so I can get my next mix finished in a timely manner.  Just shoot off an email located in the 'about me' section of this site.  I promised not to share (former Scout's honor).
Well, that's about it folks.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Stay tuned, stay focused, and most importantly stay free, gay & happy!  I'll be back next week with mix number three.  Until then...Enjoy!

Title : Bring Your Soul Back (Ralphi's Percussive Soul Mix)
Artist : Ralphi Rosario & Giangi Cappai
Nothing special, but some good filler when you're kicking things off or just need something to transition.
Track : 2
Title : Control Yourself (Manny Lehman Dub)
Artist : Erin Hamilton
Amazing new tune by Erin that has plenty of mixes to satisfy any floor.  While Manny turns in one of his formulaic mixes, he drops in a mean groove in the middle that I turned around and tricked it up a bit to keep that feeling flowing.  Can't wait for the vocal version coming out in late July with part 2 of the already fabulous first set of mixes.
Track : 3
Title : Away From Me (DJ Luis Erre Remix)
Artist : Altar feat. Amannda
Previously used the Altar 'Big Room' mix on my 'Splash Edition', but with so many excellent mixes to choose from, I decided on this even bigger floor stormer that lies somewhere on the Trance tip.
Track : 4
Title : Happy People (Timothy Allan Remix)
Artist : Offer Nissim feat. Maya
Funny how the title suggests something other than what the song really is.  To me, this is a very sad song and probably one of the best things from Offer in a while.  Also check out his original version which was on the 'Splash Edition'.
Track : 5
Title : Automatic 2008 (J. Louis Tikaro & Ferran Vocal Mix)
Artist : Ultra Nate
It was bound to happen, some new updated mixes from last years mega-smash by Ultra Nate (naughty).  Also check out the excellent Riff & Rays mix.
Track : 6
Title : Give Some Love (Tristan Garner Crossover Remix)
Artist : Antoine Clamaran & Mario Ochoa feat. Lulu Hughes
Hot just got hotter!  Totally feeling the over the top drama production by Tristan.
Track : 7
Title : 4 Minutes (Peter Rauhofer Saves London Mix)
Artist : Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake
While Peter's 'New York' and 'Paris' mixes are decent enough, this version is still my fave.  Besides, we all know the UK has better taste in music.
Track : 8
Title : Over The Night (Allan Natal Energy Remix)
Artist : Sentenela pres. Lipgloss feat. Liz
Another song that made my 'Splash Edition'.  While there are several outstanding mixes that accompany this song, I just can't get enough of Allan's massive drama room mix.  Excellent companion to Sara Brightman's 'Harem' from a few years back.
Track : 9
Title : When I Grow Up (Ralphi Rosario Club Vox)
Artist : Pussycat Dolls
While I'm not really feeling the original radio version of this song, Ralphi once again shows why he's the master.

Gay Pride Edition 2008 Volume 1
Well, it's that time of year again. After kicking things off with all sorts of circuit parties throughout the nation for Memorial Day Weekend, followed by Gay Days at Disney World in Orlando, FL, it's now time for Pride to take center stage.
More than any other year, I feel this could be the most important Pride in a very long time. With the historical primary season behind us and so many gay issues on the table, the largest being marriage and equality, I thought I'd dedicate the entire month of June to Pride.
This is the first of four mixes that will be released every Friday this month. Because the city barred all festivals in Piedmont Park due to the drought last year, everyone was scrambling to secure venues. Atlanta Pride will take place over the July 4th weekend (one week later than usual) at the Atlanta Civic Center. It will be interesting to see how they pull this off since it will be a combination of indoor and outdoor festivities.
Unlike past events, they will require a $5 admission fee and up to $20 dollars for various concerts. Their overall costs to put this on are twice the amount as usual. Frankly, I think that's reasonable and won't be an issue for the majority of the folks. I haven't decided if I'll be hitting up the event or bars (in my newly designed T-shirts of course) giving out CDs promoting the blog. I'll just see how things play out.
As you may notice, the artwork is tied into this year's general election and many of the issues and challenges the gay community faces. Each mix has its own album cover created by yours truly. Some may ultimately be offensive to people, but I am trying to make an artistic statement or if you prefer, a point. I only mention this, because I don't want to be bombarded with a bunch of hate mail when the next one comes out.
Rest assured, I put as much time into creating these mixes as I did the cover art. Since I haven't received any type of feedback other than "love it" (which I always like to hear) I read into something one of our M.I.A. fellow members Tom P. mentioned in an email he sent me a while back.
So, instead of screaming divas all the time, I'm definitely trying to mix things up with some tribal, commercial, big room, electro, dubs, and yes those always fierce divas. Overall, I'm very pleased with the final outcome, and thank Tom for the feedback, even if it wasn't intended that way. See, I do listen even if you aren't talking...LOL!
I don't know where you're at, but it's been a scorcher for the past several days here in the ATL. We may actually get some relief this weekend. Then again, our weather forecasters are generally 50/50 on their predictions. Anyway, I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and rest assured, I'll be back next Friday with part 2 of this series. Until then...
Enjoy!

Title : Set U Free 2008 (Friscia & Lamboy Vocal Mix)
Artist : Planet Soul
HOT! Classic from the 90's finally receives a fabulous workover. Works on every level. Funny thing is, back in the day when this was played on radio, I went into Musicland (one of the countless record stores chains no longer around) and wanted to buy the single, but couldn't find it. I asked the clerk where was the song "Come Into My Black Hole" (I swear to God that's what I thought she was saying) and the guy just starting laughing hysterically. He goes and pulls the single and hands it to me. Needless to say, I felt like a dweeb (the other thing I thought she was saying in the song...such a dweeb, such a dweeb). Now when I hear this song, I still can't get my own version out of my head. Essential.

First Splash Edition 2008 | Pt. 1 & 2
Well, it looks as if I'm way ahead of the curve. I managed to clean up my computer, replace the motherboard, backup everything to two external hard drives (for anal retentive sake), and reinstalled Vista now that SP1 is out. I also switched to DSL from Cable (good riddance).

So where did I find the time to knock this edition out you ask? I threw all the songs together in a giant mix and burned it to an mp3 disc so I could preview the tunes I wanted to use for this mix while I was working on the computer. Not only was the mix spectacular, I was able to go back and make a handful of tweaks and of course, edits to cut the time under 80 minutes per mix for those that like to burn to disc.

All told I might have spent 3 hours in total in the mix. I can assure you, it's rare that all the songs I want to use just fall into place, but it does happen. Even though First Splash isn't until the end of the Month, I wanted to ensure there was no overlapping with my Pride Edition that comes out in June. So spacing these mixes out just made good sense.

For those of you who may be wondering what First Splash is, it is Memorial Day weekend in Austin, TX. Much like your White Party and its brethren, this is a major Gay celebration that goes on all weekend. Typically considered the time of year when you're ready to shed all your clothes for more suitable attire befitting the season. You can certainly do that at "Hippie Hollow" a nudist area just off the lake. If you've never been, you ought to check it out.

There's a newer First Splash that started on South Padre Island back in 2000. I was asked to spin two years in a row for the event and the accompanying "Last Splash" which occurs on Labor Day weekend. Though small at the time, it's well on its way to being a viable competitor to the one in Austin. "The Upper Deck" owner has been buying up all the property down the street where his hotel is located and had plans to build a giant indoor club to allow the party to go on all night. I haven't been back in a while, I guess maybe I should.

I really like this mix. Side one is chock full of cheez. Mind you, not that government cheez, but grade 'A' quality cheez. Nevertheless, still cheez...LOL. As the mix progresses, it begins to get deeper about 2/3 of the way down. Side two picks up where mix 1 leaves off and holds steady until the end, where I had to throw in one last slice of cheez, an updated version of the eighties NRG classic "So Many Many, So Little Time". All in all, this is one solid mix that I'm very proud of and I hope will get the boys all excited about Summer! Yay, the warmer weather is on its way and it's time to get all sweaty on the dancefloor again.

I still have a few more things that need to be taken care of, so I may or may not be back this next weekend with my next update. I decided to go ahead and knock out my next Electro-Funk Edition followed by the next installment of the Classix Edition that was originally promised. I'll see how everything pans out, but those of you that regularly visit my blog, know me well enough that I just can't stay away. Until then, everyone have a great weekend and as always...ENJOY!

Due to the original structure of this post, the two separate sets have now been combined into one and remastered based on the techniques used in current podcasts.
