The regular season ends, the Playoff contenders are confirmed, but as is so often the way after ‘Black Monday’ it is the coaches who’ve been fired who dominate the headlines.
So in a week where the Seahawks won against the high flying 49ers and the Steelers left it late to beat the Ravens, join us as we instead discuss the uncompetitive Falcons, Browns and Giants and whether new coaches will change their fortunes next year...
As well as this we also have time to look ahead to a truly wild 'Wildcard Week', and discuss if the Bills have the perfect opportunity with no Chiefs in the Playoffs, or whether they'll fall to the Jags and be left to watch the rest of the Playoffs from the comfort of their sofas.
Thanks for listening, we hope you enjoy it!
It all comes down to this, kind of.
So this week the regular season comes to a close and there are still a number of teams who need to win to-be-in. But beyond those stories there are also some teams who get to head into the Playoffs by putting down a marker and maybe even grab home field advantage in the process.
Amongst these teams are the 49ers, a team ravaged by injuries early in the season to such an extent that their record seems to be a surprise to many. However after a great showing against the Bears last time out, Brock Purdy and company are currently looking like they could be a match for anyone. This week’s ‘anyone’ is Sam Darnold and the Seahawks, another team possibly not fancied early in the year who are heading into meaningful January football looking red hot in the process. Could we have a 'Game of the Season' contender on our hands?
As well as all that, the guys have time to consider just how bad it could get in Detroit….and answer a quiz question for good measure.
Happy New Year all, thanks for listening.
So, it’s official, those teams we didn’t believe in early doors are now 100% confirmed in the Playoffs…but while the Seahawks and Rams have spent all year proving us wrong, the guys are now looking at those teams who are still slightly under the radar, but could yet have a big say on how the 2025 season unfolds.
Chief amongst these teams are the Texans - on a seven-game win streak no less – and the Bears, who despite considering a move to Indiana, are current delighting fans in Chicago with Caleb Williams starting to look every bit the generational talent we were promised he’d be coming out of college! But how much further can they go?
All this, plus a Steelers Special from JB, as he finally picks a game so one sided that he feels no guilt whatsoever putting them into a suitably festive Club Dub.
Thanks for listening all. Merry Christmas 😊
The end of the season is a time of excitement for certain fanbases, the play-offs draw nearer and fans can dream…
For others though, once out of contention the end of the season can be a time of experimentation as owners think ahead to the big off season decisions they may be forced to make.
Nowhere is this messy phase better encapsulated than in Miami, where a superstar QB on truly superstar money will be benched this week, so the guys discuss 'Is the end for Tua?' and if so what else awaits?
All this plus Rams, Broncos and Jags chat as they blaze a trail towards the biggest showdown in sports.
Enjoy!
In a week where Rodgers and Stafford continued to turn back the clock, younger QB’s falling to injury means we could soon be adding Phillip Rivers to that list of aging stars in the NFL.
Not only are this week’s storylines headlined by ageing play-callers, remarkably the playoffs could yet be shaped by their ability to keep performing too!
In a packed show the guys also talk about whether the Bills or Patriots are the high water mark in the AFC, and if the Panthers can be considered contenders in the opposing conference?
All this, plus the features you love.
Thanks for listening.
Well, a few weeks ago who saw the Bears and the Pats leading each conference? Not these guys. But now they are here, the question becomes - are they legit?
To be fair to each Franchise, these aren’t the only teams with great records who are still not contenders in the eyes of many, you can add the Jags and even the under-performing Eagles to that list. So where do we go from here?
This week the guys try to work out who are the real deal, and whether in the weeks to come the Bills, Rams’ Lions and Eagles might work their way back to the summit – and into genuine Superbowl contention.
So this week you have all of this, plus some awkward exchanges that suggest there may be a power struggle going on amongst your favourite podcast presenters….plus a quiz question or two.
Enjoy!
Welcome back, great to have you listening in to all things Club Dub, in another week where storylines keep shifting along with the perceived heroes and villains.
While Week 12 delivered some stunning comebacks, it also delivered it’s fair share of shocks, including the Bills and their demolition at the hands of the improving Houston Texans. One of the questions for the guys this week is whether David Mills and the Texans can keep this up and trim the gap at the top of the division when they face the pace-setting Colts?
It is not the only big game, with the Seahawks and Vikings showdown also being singled out as a game with serious Playoff implications.
There’s all this, plus a Detroit Lions themed 'Toughest Quiz question in all of Podcasting'.
Thanks for listening, liking and subscribing – and Feedspot for totting up the ‘x’s and ‘o’s!
With the midpoint of the season now behind us, games seem to somehow mean more down the stretch – and with so many teams in the mix (or at least with an outside chance), almost every fanbase can still dream.
Dreaming again are Patriots fans, who find their team on a roll with Drake Maye under center, looking ever more likely to not only make the Playoffs, but do so as division winners. With other front runners winning games narrowly, do the guys think the Pats have the edge over the likes of the Eagles and Broncos?
Along with that chatter, the talk also turns to the mid pack, and discussions around the Jags and Panthers. Could these teams find the consistency that could incredibly give them a shot at meaningful January football?
All this, plus the usual bits of this and that.
Thanks for listening!
Come on in everyone, the water is warm!
This week our usual trio drops to two, as just Rob and JB are left holding the fort. Given the keys to the kingdom it is not long until all chatter leads to the question on everyone's lips....are the teams in the NFC West really the guys to beat?
The Rams and Seahawks both beat divisional rivals last week, but this week's tilt could tell us more than who has bragging rights in the West - and may give us a clue to who could be in the Superbowl come February?
Talking of Superbowl's, listeners are also making their predictions, so the other big debate is around the Saints and just what the future holds for New Orleans.
All this, plus the usual stuff.
Thanks for listening!
Welcome back everybody to more chatter about the rollercoaster that is the NFL in 2025.
This week the jibber-jabber not only focuses on some of the most amazing games of the year so far (we're looking at you Bears and Bengals) but also which teams are beginning to look like the Playoff locks come the end of the regular season.
As we hit halfway, you may say there is time for everything to change, but one debate tops all others this week for the guys and it centres on the Denver Broncos. With their smoothering defense, winning low scoring games late has been the script recently, but is that a sign things could quickly fall over - or a sign that they have the formula to go all the way with Bo Nix at the helm?
All that, plus the usual.
Have a good week all!
Another week rolls by, but as midseason approaches are we finally starting to see the cream of the crop rise to the top? We know we are mixing our phrases, but it rhymed, right…
So as a number of results each week continue to shock and surprise, the Chiefs, Bills and others are slowly growing into their label of legit contenders, (again) but with Lamar back under centre are Baltimore also ready to start their Playoff push?
As well as debating the Week 8 rumblings, the guys also have time to ask questions like ‘Are the Texans the next great NFL dynasty?’….it may surprise you to know the group is torn on exactly what the answers is.
All this plus the quizzing and features you all love.
Enjoy!
Another week means we again get on the merry-go-round to decide who might actually be a good team in 2025.
This week it seems to be the turn of the Dallas Cowboys. A few weeks into the season it might not have looked on the cards, but suddenly Dak Prescott and Company look to have turned a corner and might just be in the mix.
On the flip side we review how on earth the Giants might recover after a heart-breaking game against the Broncos, where the grasped defeat from the jaws of victory.
Elsewhere the guys dig into the stores from around the league and answer the tough questions, like is RB1 actually one word, or three?
All this, plus the features you all mildly enjoy.
Thanks for listening.
Well, last week we said the NFL was nothing if unpredictable, so if that trend continues I guess at least the unpredictability is the one thing you can predict, right?
After another round of shocks and surprises the guys have a lot to unpack this week, including attempting to answer tough questions like, why did so many teams pass on MVP chasing Baker Mayfield, are the Falcons truly contenders in the NFC, could the Patriots be back to being a league juggernaut…and how are the Panthers at .500?
All this plus all the features you love, including a painful toughest quiz question in ‘No Google, All Noodle’.
Thanks for listening, see you next week.
Well, in a podcast where we regularly try to separate the best from the rest, the NFL is known for occasionally wrong footing us, but Week 5 was a next level experience!
The form book was thrown out of the window as we were treated to a slate where the shocks and surprises just kept on coming! Trying to make sense of it all is possibly impossible, but there are some questions the guys try and wrestle with, including is there really a crisis in Baltimore and is it the end of an era for the Chiefs?
Looking ahead to Week 6, the guys journey through the highlights amongst a great looking slate of games, but try more precisely to understand which teams – if any - can be trusted to deliver a ‘dubbya’ when Sunday rolls around.
Thanks for listening.
Another scarcely believable week in the National Football League, once again proving on any given Sunday, anything can happen.
This week taking the prize was the New York Footballing Giants, led past the pace setting Los Angeles Chargers by their rookie sensation at QB, Jaxson Dart. Whether this is a sign the Giants are turning a corner is yet to be seen, but with much of the league yet to truly find form, anything is possible.
Alongside trying to wrestle with the topic of just who are pretenders and who are contenders, the guys also break down just how bleak it might get for the Bengals as they head to face the red-hot Lions in Detroit.
All this, plus another banger of a quiz question. Enjoy it!
Welcome back everyone, for an episode that has it all!
Week 3 in the NFL delivered in a big way. Surprise results, amazing performances and stunning finishes everywhere you looked and lots (and lots) of blocked field goals.
If you are struggling to get your head around it all, worry not, the guys have you covered.
In the recap section of the pod they talk all things Bucs and ask the question on every fan's mind…has Baker Mayfield made the leap from almost forgotten back-up in Carolina to legit elite level QB in Tampa?
In fact, back up QB’s get their fair share of our running time with wins for the Commanders and Vikings being very much helped by former stars who came in and turned back the clock.
All this, plus a look ahead to Week 4 that allows us to discuss whether rookie sensation Jaxson Dart making his first start for New York’s Footballing Giants.
We’ve packed a lot in. We hope you enjoy!
Whether looking back on Week 2 or looking ahead to Week 3 there is plenty to get excited about as a football fan! So, for everyone in Listener Land you can be doubly excited as in this pod we’ll be doing both.
Week 2 delivered in a big way, with the Giants and Cowboys putting on a show, while the Lions got back to their free scoring best - but with the Lions in this kind of form could their Week 3 tilt against the Ravens have the potential to be a game for the ages?
All this, plus our new feature ‘One Word Week’ where we (try) and describe the week just gone in a single word….you lucky bunch.
We’ll see you on the bounce.
Welcome back everyone. It’s an Odd Pod where we mash-up our weekly Recap and Pick-em shows into one glorious episode!
Well, Week 1 did not disappoint. Even if some teams looked less than prepared, others started out looking red hot and suggest there is a great season in the offing!
So this week the guys break down all the stand-out moments from the start of the season, as well as look ahead to a Week 2 slate, that based on the ties will see some pretty good teams on paper, starting 0-2 out there on the turf.
All this, plus a quiz question a mere 73 years in the making.
Enjoy!
For those who have stayed listening over the off season, we thank you. For those who are joining us maybe for the first time to get ready for the new NFL season, come on in, the water is warm.
A new NFL season is days away and so your good friends at the Club Dub Football Podcast are here to talk through the big Week 1 showdowns. Beyond the chatter around the season curtain raiser, the guys also take a swing with some wild predictions on just who might be covered in confetti in around six months from now.
Thanks for listening in. Be sure to stick with us throughout the season.
Welcome everyone, your dear friends at the Club Dub Football Podcast are back, and on the verge of a new season are wondering...what is going on under center for most NFL teams?
For the first time in years it feels like a massively unsettled picture, with camp battles still raging for some teams, while others seem satisfied use 2025 as a square-one rebuild.
So if you're unsure of what this means for your team, so are we, but join us as we try and work things out.
All this, plus the toughest quiz question in all of podcasting!
Thanks for listening.
