Sensing - Invisible Connections and Empathy

Like the Wallace line, there are invisible constraints between us all as individuals, as networks, and as systems. Sensing involves listening actively and empathizing with the coachee to support them in gaining a deeper understanding of their viewpoint and emotions.

This is done by asking them as a non-directive way of helping them to see their situation in an alternate way which often leads the coachee to discover more options. During this phase, the coach wants to be curious and holistic.

During this episode, Brad discusses how we all need to slow down a little bit so we can sense more and help those we coach. Visit the Coaching for Complexity WIKI

Scoping - Coaching for Complexity

Scoping is about setting the constraints of the coaching relationship. It relies on creating mutualism through two aspects, the major aspect and the minor aspect. During scoping the non-directive coach and the coachee are establishing the context and boundaries of the relationship from which symbiosis can emerge. The major aspect takes place mostly at the beginning of the relationship but can be revisited at any time while the minor aspect takes place during each interaction.
