#030 Matthew Vaughan - A Christian Englishman in Pakistan

Matt is a British author who moved from the UK to Pakistan. During his 8 years there, he authored and published 2 books:

#1 - Notes from a Sacred Land — Tales of Hope from Pakistan

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Notes-Sacred-Land-Tales-Pakistan-ebook/dp/B07311KBHZ/

#2 - Land of Beauty, Land of Pain – Seeking the Soul of Pakistan

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Land-Beauty-Pain-Seeking-Pakistan-ebook/dp/B07KS878JZ/

 "So what is Pakistan like?"

A country widely held to be little more than a hotbed of violence, fanaticism, and danger. What he discovered instead was one of the most fascinating and remarkable countries in the world, full of hospitality, unexpected kindness, and stunning natural beauty.

Pakistan is a complex country with a predominantly negative media image - and yet there is a positive side of life in Pakistan which is rarely written about. In this, his second book on Pakistan, Matt travels across the country from Chitral to Karachi meeting the people and visiting the places which make Pakistan what it is: a land which is beguiling, hospitable, challenging, heartbreaking, kind, painful, and beautiful. From drug addicts in Peshawar to the abandoned Sikh gurdwara of Kot Fateh Khan, from the Buddhist ruins of Taxila to the Afghan refugees of Islamabad, these stories of his experiences shed a new light on Pakistan, a country which is frequently in the news and yet only infrequently given the respect it undoubtedly deserves.

So, what is Pakistan like? This is his answer.
