Myrtle rust has been found in NZ since 2017 and Nga Manu have some advice on how to spot it and what to do if you find it - note - until you know what to do with it do nothing - this pathogen is airborne. You can report it to BioSecurity NZ, MPI and NZ Plant conservation network. Myrtle rust is a serious plant pathogen that impacts New Zealand taonga native species such as pōhutukawa, mānuka, kānuka, rātā, swamp maire and ramarama.
