On today’s episode, Daniel is joined by an acclaimed Irish children’s author Leona Forde. Leona is someone Daniel has had the pleasure of knowing already through the literary world and I’m thrilled to finally have her featured "Creatively Me". She is the author of the “Milly McCarthy”series of books, a series that has seen acclaimed across Ireland and has been nominated for multiple awards at the AnPost Book Awards.
A teacher as well as a successful author, Leona’s inspiration for the Milly McCarthy came from wanting to create a children’s story as beloved as the likes of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", but with Irish sensibilities, that have made it all the more relatable to children all around the Emerald Isle.
On today’s episode, Leona will be sharing the factors that made her have an early passion for storytelling, will chat about the importance of diversity in children’s books and give an insight into her writing routines.
Plus, she’ll discuss her views on award nominations and reviews of her work and how she manages stress and writer’s block when writing.

Superstar Keala Settle joins Daniel on this Friday's episode of "Creatively Me".
Keala became known to many when she gained international attention for her breakout role as the Bearded Lady Lettie Lutz in the 2017 musical phenomenon "The Greatest Showman", where her performance of the anthem "This Is Me" became a cultural moment in its own right — earning her a standing ovation at the Oscars when she performed. The song itself earned a Golden Globe win for Best Original Song.
But Keala’s journey to that moment is just as compelling. A seasoned Broadway performer, she’s appeared in shows like "Les Misérables" and "Waitress".
She was nominated for a Tony Award in 2013, has received widespread acclaim for her raw, soulful voice and commanding stage presence, and appeared in one of the biggest films of last year, "Wicked" alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
Beyond the stage and screen, she’s been open about the personal challenges she’s faced and how she’s found strength, resilience, and identity through performance.
On today’s episode, Keala talks about her path from Hawaii to Broadway, the whirlwind that was "The Greatest Showman", and how she’s redefining success and creativity on her own terms.
