DawgmanRadio: Our Purdue Pregame Show!
It's been a while since all three hosts from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were together to record a pregame show, but that's exactly what happened this weekend! There was plenty to catch up on from Kim and his experience in Madison, including what went wrong on the field. But more importantly, how does Washington come out today and right that wrong with a win over the Purdue Boilermakers? To that end, these are the topics the three guys talked about during the pregame show: Will weather play a factor today? How weather factored into the game at WisconsinTrying to get energy going, especially right before the fourth quarterHow will the crowd be and how well does Purdue travel?UW keys to win, especially with regard to injuries and new personnel stepping inWho will be UW's starting five along the offensive line? How Purdue uses their quarterbacks and finding some run game after losing their lead RB, Devin MockobeeThe coaching carousel and Jedd Fisch's place in itHow the coaching carousel could impact UW whether Fisch stays or goesRecruiting update, including official visitors for the gameRecruiting numbers, how they'll fill roles through the portal and how NIL and revenue share will factor inFinal thoughts To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The Mac and Mounger Show: Purdue
The Washington Huskies return home looking for offensive answers after falling in Madison to the Badgers of Wisconsin by a score of 13-10. Previously winless against Big Ten teams, Wisconsin held the Husky Offense to a season-low 3.7 yards per carry. Jack McCauley and Luke Mounger begin their preview show by going back for a minute and recapping that performance before diving into Washington's upcoming battle with the Purdue Boilermakers. After sharing a couple of storylines for this tilt with the Boilermakers - who are winless in seven conference contests - the two former interns select their picks to stand out in Saturday's contest. After that, Jack and Luke pick their three favorite bets for the upcoming weekend of B1G football. Jack went 3-0 last week, cutting his deficit against Luke to just seven games with three weeks remaining. DawgmanRadio: Our Big Ten Conference Hoops Preview
With the regular season having started and the Washington Huskies less than a month away from their first Big Ten game of the season, it's time to put together some quick notes on what the Huskies will see from the other teams in the conference. To that end, Dawgman.com's Chris Fetters and Jack McCauley got together this week to break down the other 14 Big Ten teams that Jack hadn't already written story previews on. So that means every other team not named Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, or UW. Here are the preview stories Jack already wrote. Illinois Season PreviewIndiana Season PreviewIowa Season Preview Chris and Jack go through the rest of the Big Ten alphabetically, starting with the rebuild at Maryland under first-year head coach Buzz Williams, all the way through one of last year's Big Ten Tournament finalists, Wisconsin. And after a few minutes talking about the players that have left, returning players, impact portal players, and a general outlook for each program, Chris asks Jack for his take on teams he feel could surprise in the conference this season. The Mac and Mounger Show: Wisconsin
The Washington Huskies earned their bye week after an impressive home win against the Illinois Fighting Illini a couple of weeks ago. Now, Jedd Fisch's squad is headed to Wisconsin to take on Luke Fickell's Badgers in Camp Randall. Winless in conference play, the Badgers are double-digit underdogs to The Dawgs, who are looking to keep their playoff dream alive. Jack and Luke get together to look back at Washington's marquee win of the 2025 campaign to date, before turning their attention to this weekend. The two former interns, as always, forecast their Bets to Bark, pick three B1G bets they like this weekend, and share their confidence interval that the Huskies will fly home with their seventh win Saturday night. DawgmanRadio: The Hoops Show is Back!
It's season two of the Hoops Show! Jack McCauley joins former Husky players Jason Crandall and Noah Dickerson to recap the UNLV exhibition win, the season schedule, and expectations for this year's Hoop Dawgs. With a new year and only two returning players (Franck Kepnang and Zoom Diallo), UW Head Coach Danny Sprinkle had a huge recruiting task in front of him. And he produced one of the nation's best transfer classes The guys go straight into UW's 77-62 exhibition win over UNLV where they saw the new group for first time. Yes, there were some guys missing, but they each gave their thoughts. Noah spent time with a number of the players over summer playing with them and getting to know them. He offered thoughts on players we didn't get to see, as well as other observations. Jack asked Jason and Noah about the recent alumni events, including checking out the new hoops facility. How has it all impacted the culture? After a quick break, Jack then goes into a scheduele overview, first into the non-conference part and then into the Big Ten Conference schedule. The three then go into their overall expectations for the team and also go around and predict the opening night starting lineup. The season starts a week from today as UW hosts Arkansas Pine-Bluff. They also talk about an 'X factor' for the season. What could that be? DawgmanRadio: Recapping a big 42-25 win for Washington over No. 23 Illinois
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - hashed out all the main talking points after the Washington Huskies defeated the No. 23 Illinois Fighting Illini Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. And just like the weather coming off Lake Washington, the UW fans in attendance got to see a little bit of everything. They saw the Huskies go 6-6 in the red zone with 6 touchdowns, they saw the Huskies penalized 30 yards on one play, they saw a double pass between their Big 3 - Demond Williams, Denzel Boston, and Jonah Coleman. They saw Boston get career highs for catches and yards. And most importantly, they were able to see the Huskies come home, wash the bitter taste of a 17-point defeat at Michigan, and cap it off with a dominant offensive display as UW now goes into their second bye week before heading to Wisconsin. The guys talked about the key plays and drives that allowed Washington to get ahead and even go back into the lead late in the first half after Illinois had bounced back to take their own lead. And then they hashed out all the different adjustments that were made on both sides of the ball, the takeaways, the almost takeaways, the penalties, and everything else that happened during a day where the weather seemed to show all four seasons within a span of a few hours. The Mac and Mounger Show: Illinois
After suffering their second loss of the season at the hands of Michigan, the Washington Huskies return home to host the 23rd ranked Illinois Fighting Illini. Former interns, Jack and Luke, get together to recap and preview the game. This week's matchup is perplexing. On one hand, Illinois is allowing nearly 300 passing yards per game to power conference opponents. On the other hand, the Huskies are scoring just 18.75 points per game over the past four contests. Jack and Luke discuss how Washington will look to get back in the driver's seat at the Greatest Setting and return to their high-scoring ways of early September. Additionally, Jack and Luke share their favorite bets of the upcoming weekend slate. Luke continues his dominant season while Jack will look to get back on track. DawgmanRadio: Anything that could have gone wrong did in UW's 24-7 loss to Michigan
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds in Ann Arbor and Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund in Seattle - caught up postgame after Washington's 24-7 loss to Michigan, a game where anything that could have gone wrong for the Huskies did. And then when it seemed to go right, the nature of the brutal battle turned those tiny wins into Pyrrhic victories due to injuries. Three offensive players - starting left tackle Maximus McCree, starting tight end Quentin Moore, and backup tight end Kade Eldridge - all went down with first half injuries and Washington Head Coach Jedd Fisch said postgame that the prognosis for all three in terms of coming back to play soon wasn't good. In fact, McCree is now out for the year with a foot injury. The guys talked about how the injuries impacted a game that already had major injury concerns for both teams, how Michigan was able to pull the card UW used last year against the Wolverines by using second-half turnovers to go ahead and stay ahead on the scoreboard, the massive discrepancy in time of possession - especially in the fourth quarter - and more. They talked about the battle between Demond Williams and Bryce Underwood, how the battle in the trenches ultimately impacted the game for both young quarterbacks, and also Fisch taking responsibility for not getting his team prepared to finish the game the way they needed to. Washington has figured out a way to beat the teams they should. But what about the teams they could beat? That also is something the guys talked about in their final thoughts as the Huskies head back to Seattle licking their wounds and searching for answers as another tough opponent - Illinois - is set to travel to the Emerald City off a bye week. Oh, and Kim has a couple passes for Sunday's hoops exhibition game versus UNLV, so if you're interested send him an email: kimg@dawgman.com  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. DawgmanRadio: Our Michigan Pregame Show!
The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund back in Seattle - get up with the roosters early this morning and hold down the fort and focus on the main talking points leading into a monster game between Washington and Michigan while Kim Grinolds is en route to the Big House. So much is on the line this morning! With the Huskies at 5-1, a win over Michigan would be a statement win, a win that could catapult them right into the Big Ten Championship conversation if they were able to back it up with a home win over Illinois. A loss, and it feels like they're back to the drawing board in terms of figuring out exactly where they fit in the conference hierarchy. With Ohio State, Indiana, and Oregon being the clear three at the top, where do the Huskies fit in within that next tier? What is undeniable is that a win over Michigan would immediately jump Washington into the top-25 with a bullet, no question about it. Chris and Scott talk about the merits of whether UW should already be in the top-25 and how much an early start could factor in like it did against Iowa and Indiana last season. Other topics that were discussed during this comprehensive pregame show: Slow startsTake the ball or defer if you win the toss?Michigan's offense versus Washington's defenseWhat should UW do with LB Jacob Manu? The battle between Michigan's emerging WR corps and Washington's DBsShould Ryan Walters heat Bryce Underwood up?Washington's offense versus Michigan's defenseIs a UW blowout win even possible?Recruiting updateFinal game thoughts To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The Mac and Mounger Show: Michigan
Lifted by another strong second half against Rutgers, the Washington Huskies will carry a 5-1 record into Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. Ex-Interns Jack and Luke rehash Washington's win over the Scarlet Knights before turning their attention to this upcoming weekend. Topics of discussion include Washington's recent slow starts and the challenge of playing a 9 AM Pacific Time game. On the brighter side, they discuss the likelihood of Demond Williams continuing his impressive sophomore campaign against a Wolverine pass defense that has allowed teams like Nebraska, USC, and Oklahoma to move the ball through the air. Luke also looks to continue his dominant Betting B1G season, where he currently boasts a 12-6 picking record and a six-game lead over Jack. The duo also picks a couple of players on each side of the ball that they anticipate performing well against Sherrone Moore's Wolverines on Saturday. DawgmanRadio: Recapping an historic 38-19 win over Rutgers
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were on hand to witness Demond Williams record-setting night as the Washington Huskies beat Rutgers 38-19 Friday night at Husky Stadium. The sophomore quarterback threw for over 400 yards and set the record for the most total yardage in a single game while another record-setter - Charles "E.T." Frederick was on hand to watch. Frederick still holds the UW All-Time Single Game All-Purpose yardage record. Frederick was at the game for teammate Reggie Williams, who is part of the 2025 UW Hall of Fame class. Besides Williams' fantastic night, the guys also talked about another slow start for the Huskies, which found them down 10-0 after the first quarter, their fight back to be down only three at the half, and then the monstrous second half by the UW offense. After only generating 80 yards through the first 15 minutes of play, the Huskies finished the night with 579 yards of total offense. They talked about the decision to hold LB Jacob Manu out while giving a chance for true freshman Zaydrius Rainey-Sale to get his first snaps in as a Husky. They also talked about how the left side of the offensive line did as Paki Finau made his first career start and Maximus McCree started for the second-straight game for Carver Willis. The guys also talked about the game within the context of the Seattle Mariners' historic 14-inning win over the Detroit Tigers, a game that started before the Rutgers-UW game and ended well after the Huskies had finished off the Scarlet Knights. DawgmanRadio: Our Rutgers Pregame Show!
The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - turned the coffee machine on extra early this morning, so early in fact that they gave Kim Grinolds the morning off after he returned from a long trip back east to cover the Maryland game and Big Ten Basketball Media Days. And Kim needs to catch up on his sleep because today has the potential to be a famous day in Seattle sports. Not because of a Washington win over Rutgers, but a Mariners playoff triumph over the Tigers to win the American League Division Series. Let's just say the traffic in and around Seattle is going to be a bit rough with the Mariners game starting at 5 pm local time, an hour before the start of the Rutgers-Washington game. A silver lining? The rain looks to stay away during the games. During the 70-minute pregame show, the following topics were discussed: Will Jacob Manu play or not, depending on whether he still plans on redshirting this season? The matchup between UW's offense and Rutgers' defense. Will Maximus McCree start again? And who would back him up?Should Rutgers spy Demond Williams? The matchup between Rutgers' offense and UW's defense. How big would it be to get Tacario Davis back tonight?Could tonight be the UW debut of freshman Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, and if so, how would he be used?Recruiting update, including two committed players who are unofficially visiting.Final Thoughts. The Mac and Mounger Show: Rutgers
Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies return home from Maryland with their first B1G Conference win in program history after an epic comeback win over the Terrapins. As is the new weekly tradition, former interns Jack and Luke take to the microphones to share their thoughts. They begin with providing letter grades for Washington's performance in College Park, which was difficult to do given how different the two halves looked.  Next, Jack and Luke pick one player on each side of the ball to have a stand out performance in The Huskies' upcoming Friday night showdown against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. For last week's contest, their picks included Denzel Boston, Jacob Manu, and Decker DeGraaf - so they may have cracked the prediction code! Next, they will take to their Betting B1G segment, each picking three lines for B1G conference games for the upcoming week. Both Jack and Luke were 2-1 last week; however, Luke still holds the lead with an excellent 10-5 record for the year. Lastly, they share their confidence interval that Washington will improve to 5-1 this weekend. DawgmanRadio: Making sense of a fairly nonsensical win at Maryland
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - break down the main talking points after Washington's improbable 24-20 win at previously-unbeaten Maryland Saturday afternoon at SECU Stadium in College Park, MD. It's the first time Washington had come back from at least 20 points on the road since winning at California in 1993. That's crazy, right?  And that was probably the biggest one of them all; how did they go from looking so awful in the first half to so dominant in the second half? And how did they make Maryland, who is a pretty good team anyway, look like they could compete for a Big Ten title in the first half and then completely shut them down for their last four offensive series and make true freshman phenom Malik Washington look positively human? Here are the topics we touched on during our 35-minute recap. - Kim setting the scene and the atmosphere in what was billed as a 'sold out' SECU Stadium, the first apparent sell-out in years.- Why did Washington come out of the blocks like they were sleep-walking?- Demond Williams and how he was able to go from his first-half struggles to second-half dominance.- Did it ever get bad enough to warrant a conversation about giving backup QB Kai Horton a series?- No Zach Durfee and Deshawn Lynch stepping up as the 'next man'.- Offensive line issues, especially on the left side with no Carver Willis to start and John Mills getting hurt during the game.- How winning a game in the manner they did can help UW down the road.- Kim talking with UW Road Captain Todd Bachert and his Dad Bruce.- Final Thoughts. Are the Terrapins as good as their record suggests? Can UW get right back on track after a tough home loss to the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes? Here are the topics the guys discussed this morning: - Maryland true freshman QB Malik Washington and what UW can do to contain him and some of their offensive weapons- Both teams using true freshmen and true sophomores at key skill positions, somewhat similar roster makeup- Washington's team health, who is expected to make it back to play and who isn't. And could true freshman LB Zaydrius Rainey-Sale be in line to get his first game action of the season?- Left tackle Carver Willis and who would replace him if he can't go. Maximus McCree? Soane Faasolo? Could true freshman John Mills move outside to allow Paki Finau a chance to play at left guard?- Can Maryland contain UW QB Demond Williams- The battle of the specialists- UW recruiting update, especially coming on the heels of last weekend's big recruiting weekend against Ohio State- Final Thoughts, including UW's keys to victory if they can pull it off To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The Mac and Mounger Show: Maryland Preview
Jedd Fisch's Washington Huskies suffered their first loss of the 2025 season against the Ohio State Buckeyes last week. Now, the Dawgs look ahead to their first road conference game of the year against the Maryland Terrapins. Jack and Luke do the same! The former interns assign letter grades to Washington's performance against Ryan Day's defending national champions. Believe it or not, the duo was in relative unison. Afterwards, Jack and Luke identify two storylines each that intrigue them about the upcoming matchup between the Dawgs and the Terps. A couple of the threads identify include Maryland's struggles on the ground this year and Washington's failure to win a road conference game under the current regime. Then, they each pick their Bets to Bark for the upcoming game - highlighting a player from each side of the ball they believe will have a strong performance on Saturday. Next, they move to their Betting B1G segment. Despite being wrong on all three of his picks last week, Luke still have a five-point lead on Jack. Some of the games picked include Penn State @ UCLA, Michigan State @ Nebraska, and Wisconsin @ Michigan.
