Tangaroa on smoking Marijuana at 5, active addiction and breaking intergenerational cycles.
On this weeks episode of the Eb n Flow podcast, i am so excited to be sharing this incredible interview with you all featuring the inspiring Tangaroa Jackson.
Tangaroa is the true epitome of human resilience and embodies the strength and courage of a warrior. In this conversation, he courageously takes us through his childhood experience with complex trauma and early exposure to illicit drugs. He shares with us the horrific reality of smoking Marijuana at the age of 5 and finding himself addicted to Methamphetamine in his late teens.
Tangaroa‘s story follows a very common thread of neglect and trauma that is often seen in many households throughout New Zealand and within the Polynesian/Māori community. He touches on the normalisation of substance use within his community and intergenerational cycles that continued. As complex and challenging as Tangaroa’s experience has been. He has taken his cane and chosen to rise to the occasion and break those intergenerational cycles himself, celebrating almost 6 years of being clean off Methamphetamine.
Tangaroa is the true representation of an anomaly and somebody who has fought with every fibre in his being to be here today. It is such an honour to have him share his journey and how he continues to grow and change, despite the challenges he has been through. I hope you all enjoy this wonderful episode.
