Welcome to episode 1 of the V4lkyries, a new story set far across the great ocean in a kingdom stitching itself back together after a family civil war tore it into pieces. The V4lkyries have been summoned to Eradane and given a task from Emperor Kaelus III, the newly appointed king and youngest of the former emperors children.
They have their mission, fresh horses and the direction to go. It can't be that easy, right?
The party is returning to Varek's new keep in the ruins of Loch Astora, but after the discovery of Quinn's birth mother and Kallista releasing a prisoner that had been locked away for aeons, tempers will flare over dinner.
While Quinn is struggling with the realization that their mother was a powerful archmage who had fallen during the war against the Eternal Night Lands, Kallista is transported far beneath the tower where she comes face to face with the temple she had been looking for. Will she be able to take a step closer to serving her new patron, or will she fall and become another sacrifice used to keep whatever is down thee imprisoned?
Far across the ocean from Celennial lies a land once hailed as the heart of civilization — the Empire of Kharadros. Settled in the crown of the continent of Astrevia, it gleamed beneath the light of a thousand banners. They rose upon faith and flame, and the voices of the gods still sang across the skies. But when the heavens went silent… the world broke.
A century ago, it was chaos. Warring kings. Scattered tribes. Endless bloodshed. The Shattering Wars tore the land apart — kingdoms burned, saints fell, and the blood of angels soaked the soil. When the storm cleared, nothing remained but ruins… and the desperate will to survive.
But from the fire and ruin rose a single man — Auren the First Emperor. A conqueror with the wisdom of a sage, and the heart of a lion.
He united the continent beneath one banner, forging an empire that stretched from the frostbitten coasts of the north to the sunlit jungles of the south.
For over a hundred years, Khardros stood unshakable. Its cities gleamed with marble and gold. Its scholars charted the stars. And its people believed peace would last forever.
But no peace endures untested.
When the old emperor died, he left behind three sons… and an empire balanced on the knife’s edge of ambition.
The first and second princes — both born of concubines — raised their banners against each other. The nobles split. The armies marched. And Kharadros — once united under a single crown — tore itself apart.
Eight long winters of civil war followed. Cities burned. Bloodlines were erased. And the rivers ran red with the price of pride... Until a third son stepped from the shadows.
Kaelus. The Queen’s only child. The trueborn heir.
Through wit, deception, and the silence of assassins’ blades, he outmaneuvered both his brothers.
And three weeks ago, he took the throne.
The war ended not with victory… but with exhaustion.
A ceasefire signed. An empire broken — but breathing.
Yet beneath the crown lies unrest.
The nobles whisper. The peasants starve. The old wounds of war bleed behind every smiling mask.
Now, as Kharadros teeters between rebirth and ruin… the young emperor sends a summons across the sea.
He calls upon a name once spoken in fear and awe — a company of warriors who shaped the very fate of battle.
Quinn and Vespera catch up while Cedar and Nadal try to keep Saint Perra from burning down the tavern to get to Lysandra. Kallista makes a deal for assistance and the party heads back to the Eternal Night Lands and north towards the border of the dragonborn kingdom where a temple is awaiting them.
Trapped between the Ashen Veil and Saint Perra the Immortal, our party decides to flee the scene and hope that Nadal can lead them to safety.
Vespera pushes through her exhaustion and keeps searching for Quinn with the help of Kallista while Nadal and Cedar try to plan their next moves. Quinn gets a good night of sleep before Isabella Von Drak escorts them towards the Reach, and a ship ready to carry him into the Eternal Night lands.
Charveknathor calls the party to Lady Nailo's office and demands answers for being awoken. She grants Vespera a chance for forgiveness and tasks her with reclaiming three items that had been stolen from her vault. Varek sees them off and Char sends them across the continent to a temple of the dragons outside Dolkrana.
Quinn wakes up to Izzy informing them that they have been called back to the Eternal Night Kingdom earlier than expected, and they will be departing in the early afternoon.
Nadal is reunited with Belorage and his brother from [REDACTED], Varek. While Lysandra, Cedar and Vespera fight the enemies below, Nadal and Varek take on the steward of the tower. Meanwhile, Quinn returns to the estate with Lady Von Drak to get some much needed rest. At Castle Lathe, Kallista and R10S continue their research until a crowd of eager learners want to know more about them.
Quinn joins the nobility in an underground fight pit where the monarchs of the night take bets on mortal combatants. R10S and Kallista continue their research, where Kallista makes a discovery while the rest of the party leads an incursion against Tower Liniath. What will be awaiting them when they reach the peak?
