Luke Likes 'Happy Old Year'
Happy, happy old year, and the new year too, obviously. Happy new year 2026. But was 2025 a happy year? Was it? I'm pretty sure it was, I hope it was, because I must say that I have asked this question, 'How was 2025 for you? How was it?'
I have asked many people this question, and they all said it was pretty good. It was pretty good, or even awesome. It was awesome. Nobody even said, nobody, not even one person said that it was bad. So, my conclusion is, the next year is always, always better than the previous year. Is it logical? Not really, not really, it's not how it works. But let's say for a moment, let's say it is like that.
And I hope it is, because it means that the next year, and the next one, and the next one, and every year to come is going to be even a little better than the previous, previous one. That would be great, that would be awesome.
So I have asked this question, it's time for me to answer, I suppose. So 'hey, Luke, hey Luke, how was 2025 for you? How was it? Awesome?' If I am being honest, if I'm being honest with you, I'm not fond of, so I don't like, I am not fond of talking about the past.
Looking back on what happened is just not my thing, I don't really know why, I usually don't do that. But alright, today I will give it a try, I will give it a go. So let's recap, recap. And now, let me think also.
So when it comes to health, because this is what people wish other people, I mean staying in shape, to be in the best of health, to be in the best of health, well, that was overall, overall, so in general, overall very very good. Except for one occasion, but with the help of family and friends, I got over that, I got over, so I got better pretty quickly.
And when it comes to work, yeah, that was a busy year, and I'm not sure if this is good or bad, because I do feel that I work a little too much. But I do enjoy that. So yeah, a very good year, a lot of work.
Wow, I'm so happy, I didn't realise that the year 2025 was that successful, successful.
Ok, and at home I did some small renovations and bought a few things, but I haven't finished yet, so I would say work in progress, could be a little better.
And now, people and relationships. Well, like in life, I got along with some people, so I had a good relationship with some of them and my family members, but I could do a little better. Yeah, I have to admit, I have to be honest, I have to admit. Work in progress here too.
Ok, and finally, goals, my goals. Well, I didn't make any resolutions back in 2025, but I was quite consistent, consistent, so I stuck to, I was consistent with what is important for me, so staying fit and keeping on studying languages, obviously.
And I am very very satisfied with my results, well, I don't want to brag, I'm sorry, but I could see progress, And oh, I did start learning a new language, which is Portuguese.
I love it, I'm excited, and I'm looking forward to 2026, the new language year. F
For me, and for you as well. Keep up the good work.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Repair'
Do you want to know the truth? The truth about the world and life? I will tell you. The truth is that things get broken. Get broken so they no longer work. Get broken.
Hey, who did that? Who broke that? Not me, not me. So who did that? Just got broken. I had nothing to do with that. I had nothing to do. It got broken by itself. Yeah, let's go with that. Let's go with that.
So things happen, things get broken. We can't do anything about it, can we? Definitely I can't. I can't do anything about it. I know nothing about repairing things or fixing things. So I just try and stay away from it. And, well, leave it to the pros. Leave it to the people that, well, they know what they are doing. The specialists, engineers, and craftsman, craftsman.
And I am telling you all about that because the other day, so not a long time ago, the other day, I was preparing my meal, my evening meal on my stove, on my stove, so the place, the top that you prepare your meals on, and you can heat them.
So while I was heating, I was heating my meal, it all went out, went out, so suddenly it stopped working. It is an electrical device, an appliance used in the kitchen so it needs electricity and suddenly it stoped working just like that. It got broken. Hey, I had nothing to do with that. I had nothing to do with it. Not my fault.
So it all went out. And I couldn't turn it back on again. Turn it back on. Well, I tried a few things like restarting the device. This is basically all I could do. This is where my knowledge and skills end when things get broken.
And well, the obvious step is for me to take it in for repair. And that would involve, that would mean, that would involve, well, a lot of time, and of course I would have to pay the costs of any repairs, because the stove is no longer under any guarantee. Unfortunately, obviously.
So what can I do? What can I do? What can I do? Me? Nothing. My brother. Ha! He is the repairman in the family. He has always been. And it's so impressive to watch. It's like watching a magician.
So he comes over to my place. Disconnects, disconnects the device and removes it, removes it from the top, because it is sort of built in the worktop. And then starts to dismantle, dismantle the device.
So takes away all the bits and pieces step by step so that it is all like Lego bricks. Screw after screw, piece after piece. And it's so tiny. Oh my! Tiny and fragile. So you have to be careful not to break it.
So he does all of that. And after around 2-3 hours we are in, we are in, and we can see it all, including the tiny little piece. The little bastard! That is all to blame. Yeah. So this little small piece is the culprit. The culprit, so somebody or something that is responsible, for all this mess.
And that's a very impressive job that my brother did. And me?Well still nothing to do with that. I just hope to come back to cooking. And if next time something gets broken, my brother will definitely handle that, and find the culprit again.
Because I had nothing to do with that. It's not me, obviously.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Meet Adriana'
Oh, Adriana. Adriana. Meet Adriana. Do you know her? Do you know her, Adriana? You know, the flight attendant. Flight attendant. So, a person who helps you out on a plane, on a plane. A flight attendant.
No, you don't? You don't know Adriana? You don't? Okay, I'm gonna be honest, I am gonna be honest with you, I don't know her either. I don't. But, but, she is gonna help us here. Not on a plane. But, to make a point. To make a point here. And, tell us, tell us a little story, a little story. Hope you enjoy it.
So, let's start over. Let's start over. Meet Adriana. She is a flight attendant and she flies a plane, she flies a plane. She helps people feel comfortable on the flight and she often spends time in a cockpit. Maybe. Maybe that's true. Maybe not.
Anyway, she flies a lot. And, she visits lots of places. Lots of interesting cities. So far, so far, she has visited LA. She has been to Mexico City and she has been to Rio. And, I'm sure she has seen many, many other cool cities around the world. So, she has visited lots of interesting cool places.
In fact, she is on the plane right now. She is flying, she is flying. But, I don't know where. I don't know where. But, again, she is helping people around. And, making them comfortable during the flight. During the flight.
For example. Oh, look at this man. He is sleeping right now. He is sleeping. He needs a blanket. How about I go and bring him a warm blanket. He is sleeping.
Are you with me? Are you with me so far? I hope you are.
So, as I said. As I said. Adriana has been to lots of places. But, she has never been, she has never been to New York. She hasn't been. So, one day, one day I'm sure, I'm sure she will fly to New York. That's her big dream.
Maybe next year. Maybe this will be next year. Who knows? Who knows? Maybe she is going to, she is gonna, she is going to fly this big, big, huge jumbo jet. Have you ever flown this big thing? Have you? I haven't.
Anyway. She is flying right now. Again, don't know where. She is flying and, in a moment, in a moment they will be flying over the mountains, they will be flying over the mountains. What a view! What a wonderful view of the mountains! Hope you can get a window seat. A window seat.
So, Adriana is a young flight attendant. Because she finished, she finished an air training school three years ago, three years ago. So, she is gaining, gaining, so getting, gaining experience right now.
She used to fly, she used to fly a different plane. And, well, people used to fly different planes, and, on one occasion, on one occasion while she was flying to Mexico, she was flying to Mexico, a funny thing happened. Because a man proposed to her! A man proposed to her on a plane. So, he wanted to marry her, while she was flying. Oh my goodness! She said no, she said no.
So, that's an incredible situation. She has those from time to time. Like the other day, the other day, so not a long time ago, a passenger wanted to get on the plane, get on the plane. But, he didn't have a boarding car. He didn't. So, she said 'I would let you, I would let you in, I would let you in if you had a boarding car. Obviously, he didn't. So, he couldn't get on the plane.
So, that's it. That's Adriana and her fascinating life story. And different, different situations she was in. Well, like you. Me and everyone. And, this is how you want to talk about it.
So, go ahead and try.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Cozy'
Yeah, I am feeling comfortable. I'm so comfortable over here, staying in and not going out, anyway. Pretty cozy. Pretty cozy.
Do use this word in English, cozy? Yeah, a pretty nice word, which you can use when you feel comfortable and, well, sort of safe. But the most important part is you're feeling warm and relaxed. Cozy. Cozy little place by the fire, by the fire, for example.
So nothing better than feeling cozy on a December afternoon and evening. When it's pretty dark outside and not too cozy, not too cozy when you go out. So staying in and enjoying the cozy atmosphere, which starts, in my opinion, which starts with a hot, hot drink.
And no surprises here. Here it is, here it is, my hot tea. But this time, this time round, garnished, garnished, okay, so decorated, with, well, plenty, plenty of stuff. Cozy stuff. Very fancy, very fancy.
Such as, hmm, what do we have in here? A slice of orange, obviously. A few cranberries, cranberries. Do you know what they are? Cranberries. Yes, please, look it up, cranberries.
Then cinnamon, cinnamon stick, actually, cinnamon stick and ginger. Obviously, ginger. So common spices. Oh, and not so common, at least to me, because there is a little small star in it.
Anise, star anise. Look it up again. Cardamom and, oh yeah, those little things, cloves. They are called cloves. All of them, spices. Very nice looking, floating here in my hot tea, floating. So staying up and not going down, not going, so floating, floating in my tea. And finally, to top it all, top it all, some sweet, sweet raspberry juice.
Oh, let me take a sip now, let me take a sip. A taste of cozy, a taste of cozy. But it's not all. Well, because I do not have a fireplace, fireplace, I want it to be warm, so I turn up the heating, turn up the heating. And, that's awesome, awesome, light some candles, light some candles around.
Here are two over here. It's nice if they are scented candles, so they have this special nice smell. Scented candles, let me have a look. One is 'white tea and ginger', obviously ginger, and the other one, 'balance and harmony'. That's the names, that's the names of the scent, the smell. Also cozy.
What else do we need? Yeah, some soft, soft light. Not a lot, just here and there, a little bit. Soft, delicate, warm light, that's important. Yeah, all is here, all is here.
Oh, I almost forgot, I almost forgot. Oh yeah, some warm socks, blankets and layers, layers of clothes. Yeah, I love layers. I think it just runs in my family, we love layers of clothes to keep us warm and cozy.
Yeah, and that would be it, that would be it. But maybe just one more thing missing here. Something in the background. Hmm, what could it be? Maybe some music. Soft, nice music. Oh, maybe just another episode of your favourite podcast.
Enjoy your cozy listening time. That's good.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Focus'
Yeah, so everything is ready, I'm sitting and all the setup, setup, so the way my microphone and all the devices are organized, and my setup is ready and I am ready to record, record.
Here we go, but wait, wait, I don't have my tea, come on, I can't do that without my tea. So wait a sec, wait a second, I'll be right back... Alright, I'm back, I am back with my hot hot tea. Ah, yeah, very hot, I like it this way. Delicious. Just perfect for a winter day like today. No, wait, it's not winter yet, just perfect for an autumn day, autumn day like today.
Alright, so back to recording, back to recording and today's topic is focus, is focus, which by the way, by the way reminds me, reminds me that I need to take my laundry out, take my laundry out of the washing machine. So please give me a second again, I'm sorry, I'll be right back again... Okay, the laundry is out, the laundry is out of the washing machine and it is out to dry, to dry.
And finally I can get down, get down to recording, which means start recording, start recording, as I said. I'm a little out of breath right now, because I was in a hurry, I was in a hurry. But I am so glad I remembered about the laundry, yeah, I was super focused, super focused, laser focused, even I can say laser focused, so very very much focused.
Yeah, I'm glad that I didn't forget, yeah. And now back to recording, back to recording about, yeah, the focus because it is very very important to be focused on what you are doing... Excuse me again, I got a message over here.
Oh, oh, you know what? Just found out, just found out that my parcel, my parcel is on its way, on its way, so it is coming, it is coming, and finally I will be able to, I will be able to pick up my parcel tomorrow, tomorrow. Oh can't wait, because it is this picture I ordered, I bought, and can't wait to have it on my wall,
Yeah, you know, I keep changing stuff, I keep changing stuff around my place, and this is just another thing. Yeah, like, you know, you might remember, you might remember, I'm still waiting for the sofa, and a coffee table.
Yeah, anyway, anyway, back to the topic of today's podcast, which is the focus, the focus, which, by the way, I'm very good at, I am very good, I am, well, maybe not the best, but I think I am doing pretty well. And whenever I want, I can focus on anything I need to.
In fact, in fact, I am good at many things, not just that. I'm good at... oh, I know, I know. I keep saying that to people, and they agree, I'm super fast, I am super fast, and whenever something is falling, I will catch it. That's my thing, that's my thing...
Oh, and focus, and focus. Oh my, look at the time, look at the time. I'm almost out of time, I'm almost out. I don't know how it happened, really. I guess I will tell you all about it in the next episode, in the next episode.
And I have great ideas, I have great ideas, but before that, before that, just to let you know, I think I need to have something to eat, have something to eat.
And then focus, yeah.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Go Left, Go Right'
Go where? Left? Right? Why? I am not going anywhere today. I am not going anywhere. It is snowy, it is snowy. Inside - good. Outside - bad. Don't go out.
Now, actually, actually, it is pretty nice outside. It is snowing heavily, it is snowing right now for the first time, and it is pretty cold. And wet a little. Dark, also cloudy, but still, still quite beautiful, quite beautiful. So, maybe outside - good, inside - bad.
So, about right now, about today, about right now, and today. No left, no right. Just today. I do have some time, and I am thinking what to do. I have a few ideas. One of them, one of them is to go out and, well, get the first experience of the winter, winter in November. November winter, pretty early.
So, that's today. Maybe later on, later on, later on, today. Well, I have dinner as usual, family dinner, and as usual I record the episode. That's my usual thing to do on this day, and I am doing that, I am doing that right now.
So, let's go left, left, and by left, I mean yesterday, last week, last month, maybe, last year, last year, in the past, very much, into left. So, when I go left, I mean the past.
Yesterday, for example, I had a pretty busy day, not like today, but yesterday, I did, I did. I had quite a lot of things to do. I also wanted to find some time for workout, and unfortunately, I didn't, I didn't do, I didn't, I didn't find any, and I didn't find any energy either. I didn't find any, any, any energy either.
But, believe me, believe me, I wanted, I wanted. I did find some time to do a little clean-up. So, I cleaned, I cleaned up the apartment a little bit, so I was happy about that. It wasn't that bad, because I had a nice evening to finish off the day yesterday. Yeah, and went to sleep quite early, so I could get some sleep, get enough sleep, because I didn't get it in the past week, I didn't get enough sleep.
Alright, are you with me? That was the left. Let's go right then, let's go right. And when I say right, I mean, not the past, not the present, let's go into the future, into the future, back to the future.
So, I am gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I am gonna, have dinner, I am gonna, well, obviously, hang out with my family after that. I'm sure it will be, it will be great, it will be great. Also, in the evening, I'm gonna go out, and I'm gonna take out my dog for a walk in the snow. That will be quite an experience for me and for him.
And then, maybe I will do some work before tomorrow, because I will have to, I will have to get ready, but hopefully I will not have to spend a lot of time doing that. And then, I am gonna do some language learning, language learning. Well, can't wait, I can't wait.
I am also, also gonna, well, find some time to do my workout, finally, to do my workout. And at the end of the day, at the end of the day, I hope I will have a nice, nice evening to finish off the day. I'm looking forward to it, I'm looking forward to it.
And what about you then, what did you do yesterday, last week? Go left. What are you gonna do tomorrow, next week?Go right then. Or stay where you are, straight on, go straight on, here and now.
Keep that in mind, please.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Motivation'
Motivation, do you have motivation? Do you have enough motivation? Do you have enough motivation to do that, to do this, to do things? Are you motivated enough? Are you motivated?
Because that's a mystery, so like a secret, and we wonder, was it really is. A mystery. How does it really work? Can you please tell me? Can you please tell me? Why am I motivated? Why am I not motivated enough to do exercise in the morning?
I wake up and I wonder, 'Hmm, I want to do that today.' But yesterday, I didn't really want. I didn't feel like doing that. I didn't want to do that. I didn't feel like doing. Why is that?
Yeah, morning exercise, a mystery. Or to work hard and do your best, do your best, which means to be as best as you can, do your best. Am I always motivated to do this? I don't think so. I would like to be. Yeah, that's for sure.
Or to study, to study every day, to study three times a week, to be more regular. To keep coming back to studying. Are you motivated enough? Yes you are. Sometimes. Not always. But you do come back. You do. You always come back.
So why is that? We struggle. We struggle. I struggle, so I have problems. I have problems doing that, I struggle to do something. To learn sometimes, to make myself do it, make myself do it.
'Oh, not today. Not today. I'm so tired. I don't feel like doing that.' I'm sure you feel like that from time to time as well. But then, for some reason, for some reason, you find motivation, find motivation to do that.
So what is it? What is this motivation you have? What is this thing that pushes you, pushes you to doing things? You must get something out of this. You must, right?
Do you get this satisfaction, satisfaction, and this is enough? Maybe. Do you want to be better and better? And that's great. Yeah, why not? Is it money? Maybe. Why not? Maybe you want to impress other people, impress, which means show to other people how good, how great you are, impress people. Yeah, good enough, good enough.
Or you keep comparing yourself, keep comparing yourself to others. When you compare, you look at other people and think a little bit about them and yourself and think who's better here, who's worse and so on. Compare yourself. And that's your motivation. That is your motivation. Could be, could be.
Or maybe it is just fun. And you get a kick, you get a kick out of it, which means it gives you this positive energy and you want to come back, you want to come back to doing that. Maybe it is like that. Maybe it is.
But whatever the motivation, whatever the motivation is and however, however you struggle sometimes, I'm sure and you know that too, you will come back again and again. And you will feel motivated again and again.
Because you know that not doing is much, much worse than doing. And this is what we really need to know here. So do things.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Sunday'
It is a Sunday today. No work, no busy morning, no rushing out of the house, no big lists of things to do, No meetings, lessons, no traffic and busy streets. No shopping and no spending, money.
And also no worrying that you're gonna be late and no worrying that you're gonna miss an appointment or forget about something important. No things like that. Sunday.
Sleeping in, so sleeping a little longer. Then having breakfast a little later. Taking your time because nowhere to go. Listening to some music, to a podcast, maybe using social media a little, just taking your time, with your coffee. Just relaxing, sitting comfortably in an armchair. No need to hurry.
No thinking about anything really. No thinking about problems, no problems on this day. Then the noon, maybe a little walk outside, taking your dog out for a longer walk, a longer stroll in the park. Slowly, without hurrying, looking around, noticing things.
Noticing the weather and the nature. It's pretty cold and rainy, but no worrying about that, no worrying about that today. It's Sunday, no need for that. Then a little reading or watching or listening. Nothing really important, just fun stuff, easy.
Maybe meeting the family, hanging out a little, having dinner. Then coffee, maybe some cake. No hurrying anywhere, not busy at all. No gym today and no studying, and no working either and not thinking about what important things there are to do the next day. No stuff like that on this day.
A nap in the afternoon, no setting an alarm, no need for that. A sofa and a warm blanket. And some soft light. In the evening, maybe a movie, maybe hanging out with a friend, a long bath. An evening with music and candles. Just slow, quiet, peaceful time.
Only, I am not sure I can do that. I think I, I'm just different.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'The News'
So here is the news for you. I have plenty. I have plenty of news. A lot of, plenty, a lot of, plenty of news from around the world actually. Well, this is going to be a very international, international episode. But also some local, local news.
Do you follow the news? Do you follow the news? Maybe we shouldn't be doing that. At least not that much, not that much. But, oh come on, we know this is just fun, fun.
Like this piece of, piece, piece of news, local news. I can tell you that they have opened, they have opened a new roundabout in the area. Do you know what it is? Roundabout? This part of round road, round road, in a town, in a city. Yeah, so they have just opened, they have just opened a new one. And must say it's high time, it is high time. Quite a lot of accidents over there without it. And big traffic, there was big traffic. Hopefully now it has changed, it has changed.
Now, the world, the world. Oh, there has been a time change. There has been a time change, which, by the way, I'm not a big fan of, I'm not, I'm not a big fan of that. Oh come on, can we stop doing that? Please? Okay, anyway, there has been a time change. And, well, the day has become much, much shorter for us. Magically, magically.
Alright, a piece of sports news, maybe. A big fan of sports, are you? No? Well, you might not know that but the new NBA season has started, the new NBA season, season has just started, so basketball, basketball season. It has been around a week now, it has been around a week now. And it's not like I follow that every day. But, you know, once a fan, always a fan. This is how it is.
And now, let's move on to politics. Blah! Well, no big changes here. The politics has been awful. It still is. We have already seen it. We have already, already seen it all. I guess no, no news here, no big news. At least, not good news. Nothing good has happened.
But, maybe not politics, but entertainment, entertainment. So, film and music. You know, I've just found out, I have just found out, so, I didn't know that and now I do I have found out there will be a new Beatles movie. You know, you might not be a fan. But come on, that's the Beatles. So, I don't know about you, I am pretty excited.
Okay, that's for the news around the world, and me? Not much has happened. I can tell you, I have redecorated, redecorated my living room a little bit. And I have decided. I have decided I need a new sofa. Again. I haven't bought it. I haven't bought it yet but I have chosen the right one this time.
Hey, do you need a sofa, by the way? Good condition. Comfortable. Two-seater. Let me know.
And, oh, I have worked out I have worked out the problem with the insurance company. Yeah! There are people over there after all. Because somebody has responded, has responded. Yeah, good for me, good for me. So, I have solved the problem.
And, yeah. Now, I guess, coffee time. Oh, oh yeah, I've just realised I have run out of coffee. And tea. Yeah, I have just realised I need to do some shopping.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Paperwork'
So I am at work, I am working, I am working really hard. I shouldn't, I shouldn't be working because this is my day off. And it is my time off, so the time when I don't have to work, but I do, I do. And to be honest with you, to be honest with you, I quite hate that.
So let me explain, let me explain. I am working, and well, there is a lot of paper around me, a lot of paper. And this is paperwork. Yeah, do you know what that is? Paperwork. Well, that's documents, forms, bills, and other pieces of writing. Well, documents in general, that you really, really, really have to do from time to time. I'm so sorry.
Fortunately, I do not have to do that a lot, and I am trying to do this as quickly as possible, and come back to enjoying my life again. Oh, but not this time, not this time. Because you see, I got this piece of writing and documents, yeah, which I don't quite understand.
Okay, but anyway, I got this document saying that I have to pay this car insurance. Oh, and I'm okay with that. I know that. I do that all the time. We do this all the time. And the point is, the point is, the point is, I have already done it. I have already done it. I have paid, and still I get this piece of writing.
Yeah, and that's the moment I really, really don't like, because it really slows down the work. And as I said before, I don't want to be doing that. I want to be as fast as possible, and now I have to deal with that, so when you say deal with something, you have a problem, and somehow you have to find a way to get around this problem, deal with the problem, so that you don't have it.
And this is what I was trying to do. I was trying to deal with this problem, and I called the insurance company. Well, it didn't work. It didn't work, because I couldn't find a real person to talk to about it. And the ideas they gave me over there didn't work, didn't work at all, didn't work.
That's not the end. I had to go and see the insurance agent to help me with the problem, and what did he do? Well, he tried to call the same number and deal with this problem, as I did before, and he got the same result. We could say he failed, so he didn't get what he wanted. I failed, he failed. Oh, we both failed. So we failed to deal with the problem, we could say.
So here I am, here I am, and I am trying to find a way, and I still have two solutions to try. One, try and explain everything in an email, and hopefully somebody will read it and react.
And second, well, I'm going to take my car, which, by the way, is fully insured, and drive 600km to see somebody from the company, and, well, and say, 'Hey man, are you mad? Are you out of your mind? Why are you doing that to me? You made a mistake, and I have to pay for that?!' And to make things worse, to make things worse, I have to waste the whole day driving here. 'Come on, leave me alone, leave me alone!'
I hope I won't have to do that, but I guess you know what I mean. So I'm stuck here on my day off, dealing with work, paper work.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'I've made it'
Yeah, I have made it! I've made it! Oh my God! I'm so happy I have.
And you, you have made it, you have, and because you have been following, you have been following me for 100 episodes, 100 episodes since, since the 9th of October, so I have been doing that since the 9th of October and it has been one year, one year. And I have made, I have created 100 episodes ... 99 episodes, this is the 100th one,
But yeah, you have learned, you have learned, hopefully, hopefully, so I really hope you have learned something, and even a little more than that.
Oh, it has been a long, long run, it has been a run because the idea, the idea behind this podcast is to give you the basis, the basis to listen, to communicate and to use, to use English better and better.
And I have tried to do that in 10 steps. Let's have a little recap, recap, so let's go back in time.
#1 So, in episodes from 1 to 9, from 1 to 9, I have given you, I have given you Basic Information , basic information about me, about you, about how to talk about yourself and how to talk about basic things, objects around you.
#2 Step 2, episodes 10 to 19, I have talked about Towns And Places, also about time and everyday life, my everyday life and for you to copy that to copy and try and talk about your everyday life.
#3 Then, step 3, episodes 20 to 29, Travelling. I have talked about countries and how to communicate when you travel.
#4 Then, step 4, episodes 30 to 39 and that's Shopping. Cool, you have learned, hopefully, you have learned how to buy stuff, also how to sell stuff and, oh, maybe how not to buy too much, as I did.
#5 Step 5, episodes 40 to 49, Fashion and Clothes. Oh yeah, I do remember that. I have talked about fashion and clothes and I'm such an expert right now.
#6 And also, episodes 50 to 59, in step 6, I have talked about Food and Eating. Yeah, I'm an expert too, if you didn't know that, sure, sure.
#7 Then, comes step 7, episodes 60 to 69 and that's Transport and Getting Around, where I talked about planes and cars and how I get around, get around. So that's transport and now,
#8 Step 8, episodes 70 to 79, I have talked about Homes and Furniture and, well, our disappointment, disappointment, so when we are not happy with the place that we just rented.
#9 Step 9, episodes 80 to 89 and that's Health And the Body, where you have learned, you have learned a lot, a lot about medicine, medicine and, well, okay, I'm an expert too, obviously, call me a doctor.
#10 And the last step, step 10, episodes 90 to 99, a fun, fun, fun step, Hobbies And Interests, what we like and what we don't like, what I like and maybe you also like.
So that has been 10 big steps, 10 episodes, every step of the way. And in between them, in between, there have been, there have been, grammar episodes, grammar episodes.
Oh yeah, you have not noticed that, have you? Every third episode is a grammatical one: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and so on. So please listen to them carefully. One time, two times, three, four, five times, until you get them, get them.
And if you have understood everything and if you can talk about yourself like that, you have made it, you have made it and you are ready for the next level.
Yeah, so it has been a great, great run and I'm so happy, I'm really happy that I have made it, which means you have made it.
Congrats to you and remember, Listen, Read, Repeat.
Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Experience'
Yes I am, I have done a lot and that's why I'm an experienced man. Am I? Really am I? Well, there is a way to find out, so to know.
Let's do the quiz. Have you, have you, have you... Have you cried with happiness? Yes, I have. That's easy. Easy points. Have you cried at a film? Sure, I have. Have you cried at a funeral? A funeral, so the ceremony when a person dies. Unfortunately I have. The next one, have you bought yourself flowers? Yes, I have, i suppose i have.
Have you been, be-was, were-been, have you been at a cinema alone? No, I don't think I have. Have you admited, so say that it's true, have you admitted that you snore? To make this sound at night that nobody likes. No, I haven't because i don't snore obviously.
Have you broken a bone, a leg, an arm, a finger? No, I haven't. Hhave you grown a plant from a single small little seed? A seed, this little thing that you put in the ground when you want to grow a plant. And no, I haven't. Oh my, okay. Not many points so far. Let's move on.
Have you written a poem for someone? For someone, no, i haven't. Have you caught a fish? No, I would never do that, let them be. Oh, that's a good one. Have you hitchhiked, have you hitchhiked in a foreign country? So stop a car and ask for a ride. Have you? No, i haven't, I haven't done that.
And the next one, have you been on a plane alone? No, I haven't been on a plane alone. Have you planted a tree? Huh, actually yes, I have. Was a long time ago, with my grandpa. I get points for that. Cool. Have you sent back the foods in the restaurant? Oh, I guess because you didn't quite like it, and no, I have not, I haven't done it.
And now, have you had stitches? So when you have a very bad cut in your hand, for example, you need stitches. No, I haven't had stitches. And now, have you written a romantic letter? No, I have not done it. Ok, and now, have you apologized, so say sorry, have you apologized for something you didn't do and it wasn't your fault. Ok, I don't remember that one.
Ok, and the next one, have you thrown away all your childhood toys? Oh, I actually might have something left. I would need to check that so let's say yes, I have just for now. And now, have you bought an original work of art, a painting, a sculpture, something? No, haven't, I have not. And have you changed a baby's nappy? A lot of fun. Um, no I haven't.
Have you been to the opera? Have you been to the opera? No. Have you changed a tire in your car? Yeah, you have a flat tire you have to change it, and no. Ok, no, I haven't. Have you regretted, so have you felt sorry that something happened, have you regretted having your hair cut? So a new haircut and then you regret it. No, I have never done it, I have never felt this way.
Alright, I'm almost done. Have you found a perfume that suits you, so is good for you, suits you? I'm still looking for it, I'm still looking. Oh, that's a good one, have you ever worried that your life is going nowhere? And obviously I haven't, come on, it is going somewhere.
Ok, well, actually not that many points. Ok, over 90 and you can die tomorrow knowing that you have done everything and you know everything. That is not me.
And then 80 to 90. an impressive score, you have nearly done it all. That's not me either.
Ok, over 60, you have done quite a lot but you still have plenty of new experiences to try. Ok, that's almost me.
Oh, here it is, this is me. Life must be fun for you, there's much you haven't done yet. Yeah. Oh, and there is one more question, one more question left. Have you answered all of these questions truthfully, truthfully?
Well, life must be fun for you, there's much you haven't done yet. Life must be fun. Let's stick to that.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Not Really Into This'
Yeah, I'm not really into a lot of things, and when you say you are not into, you are not into something, you don't really like doing that, and you are not a fan, a fan. So let's find out, find out more about that.
Board games, board games. Yeah why not, why not, I am into board games, but I must say not a very very good player. Especially when it comes to chess. Wait, that's a board game right? Yeah, so I am into playing chess but need to get better, definitely better. Sure it is a lot of fun when a lot of people can join in, so do it together, join in.
Cars. Oh, that's so funny, that is so funny. Okay, I am told, so my parents tell me, I am told that when I was a child, I was so so into cars, and I would cry, cry a lot if a book didn't have a picture of a car, or the story was not about cars. Yeah, and now, when I think of cars, I think, 'oh my goodness, what now, what do I have to repair now?' Oh, yeah, but alright, to be honest, overall, I don't mind, I don't mind, which means I am okay with that, I am okay with cars.
Oh, pets, pets. Oh, obviously I am such a huge fan, I am a huge fan of cats, and dogs, and fish, and pigs, and horses, and mice, and giraffes, and squirrels, and tigers, and spiders, and birds, and... Okay, I think you know what I mean.
Gardening, gardening. Well, I am into gardening, but how to put it, how to put it, let's say, gardening is not really into me,because the plants just hate me, hate me, and whatever I do, whatever I try, it all ends the same way, meaning not good, not good for plants. But I don't give up, I don't give up.
Fashion and clothes. Well, I am a little bit into fashion, because I do choose clothes, the ones that I wear, but I don't follow, I don't follow fashion trends that much. But obviously I appreciate, I appreciate when somebody has a good sense, good sense of style. Yeah, let's leave it at that.
Oh, interior design, interior design. So the way our houses and flats and buildings are designed and arranged, arranged. And yeah, I think I am a little bit into that as well. I think I don't know much about that, but certainly, certainly I am impressed, impressed when I see something new and interesting and I also can appreciate that. Oh, and then I want to have it, and that's a problem.
Cooking, cooking. Oh, okay, the thing is this, I am not a food person, I am not a food person, but I am trying, I am trying, and cooking is not really my thing, it is not my thing, but on the other hand, on the other hand, I want to be better at that, and there are people around me that really want to help me with it. So I just need to follow, follow their lead, follow their lead, so basically listen to what they tell me, and just do it. But now, yeah, really, not my thing, it is not my thing now. I mean, yet.
New technologies, new technologies. Oh my. Well, I think I am into this, well, who isn't, who isn't? I guess you have to be right now, and obviously it's very practical to take advantage of what there is out there, what there is out there. Take advantage, so use it, use it. So yes, I am, yes, I am, but I am not a huge fan, like some people are.
Are you into this stuff, are you into this kind of stuff? I can tell, I can tell what you really are into. I am sure, and I really, really hope you are, and this is really your thing, because we are both huge fans, we are both huge fans.
Yeah, that's right, it's languages, languages. Just crazy about them.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Be Bored'
I have a little free time right now, so what can I do? Why don't we go to the cinema? Why don't we go to the cinema and watch a movie? How about that? Nope? not a good idea?
How about this? We stay at home and watch something at our place. What do you say? Nope? you don't like that? You don't like that?
Alright, how about this? We go on social media and watch videos. You can't say no, you can't say no to that. Oh, come on. So you don't want to go and watch a movie at the cinema. Then you are telling me you don't want to watch anything at home. And even, you don't even want to watch a video on social media.
Are you saying that we are not going to watch anything and just sit like that in silence? Is it really possible to do that? Oh, come on. Let's just at least put on some music. We cannot just sit like that in silence, can we? Why? Oh, I don't know why. It is just weird. It is strange. It is weird, strange. We don't do that, but I don't know why. But still, we don't, we don't. Or, maybe?
Okay, here is my final idea. Tonight, let's not watch anything. And let's not listen to anything either. Let's not do that either. Let's not read, listen, scroll on your phone. Let's not talk. And let's not move. Let's not move either.
Let's not go out. Let's just stay in. Let's not think about tomorrow. And let's not plan anything. Also, let's not worry about yesterday. Let's not go out and run. And let's not go out and go to the gym. No, let's not do that either. Oh, oh, oh, and let's not text. Let's not text our friends. Let's not do that.
Let's not clean. Let's not paint. Let's not go out and do some shopping. Let's not be active. Let's not work, of course. Come on, this is free time.Oh, oh, oh, let's not go online. And let's not do online shopping. Let's not think what we are going to do on holiday. Let's not plan the dinner and what we need to buy to make it.
So, what then? I have a little free time right now and I choose not to do anything. Can I really do that? Please? This is really harder than you think and I don't think we really do that anymore, or we can do that.
And what I realized, realized is that I can't really do that myself, can you? Okay, so this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to put away my phone. Put away. I'm going to switch off the music. Switch off the TV. I'm going to sit down and not read. I'm not going to snack on anything. Snack or move too much.
Just sit and relax and say to myself, 'hmm, this is quite uncomfortable'. I don't know why but I really, really, really feel uncomfortable right now because I feel like I should be doing something and I'm not. And this is so weird that I don't really remember last time I did that, but at the same time I feel okay with that.
What is this feeling? I can't really remember what it feels like. Am I getting sick or something? Right now I would like to look it up, look it up and find out more about it but I don't have my phone around. Wait! No, it can't be true. No way!
Wait! Am I getting bored? Yes, I am. And you know what? I like it.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Excited'
How are you feeling today? Hope everything is alright. And me? Well, I am feeling excited today. Because the weekend is coming. The weekend is coming and I'm feeling excited. Very excited about the weekend.
I can't say why really, because nothing exciting is going to happen. Nothing exciting, but the weekend itself, weekend itself is pretty exciting. And I can do a lot of stuff that usually I do not have a lot of time for, like rest, having some rest. Yeah, we all need that.
So now I am feeling excited. And at the end of the weekend, on Sunday evening, on Sunday evening, I think I will feel a little worried. I think you know why, I think you know why. I will feel a little worried, because the new week might be a little difficult. And it is a little worrying, worrying.
And what else, what else am I feeling? I must say I am feeling a little tired, but not so much. But that was a long, long week so it was quite tiring, tiring. A lot of things to do, a lot of things to do. As usual.
Well, I know I am also a little annoyed, annoyed, so a little angry and irritated, irritated, so annoyed, because of the weather. Yeah, it is very annoying when you have some free time and you cannot go out and do some sports, for example. Yeah, it is annoying and irritating, irritating.
Yeah, well, it is what it is, it is what it is. I am not going to get depressed, depressed about that. But the weather might be a little depressing. Oh God, it is still summer time, it is still summer time. Anyway, anyway, I will also say I am not shocked by this bad weather. I am not shocked. The clouds, the rain, it's not really shocking to me. It isn't, it is not shocking at all.
In fact, in fact, I am a little surprised actually. I am a little surprised because the temperature is not that bad, is not that low. So the temperature is quite surprising. It is still 20 degrees Celsius. So a little surprising that I am sure that a lot of people are not satisfied, are not satisfied with that. Yeah, those conditions, weather conditions are not satisfying.
Okay, so what am I going to do at the weekend? I hope I can find something interesting to do, interesting to do. Let me think, I am interested, interested in languages of course. So I will study some languages. I am interested in sports, so I will do some interesting sports. And we will see. I am sure that I will not be bored, I will not be bored. But if I am, I have to say I am okay with that. I am okay with that.
I just need some time to sit back, sit back and relax a little. And you know what? You should do it too, you should do it too. So sit back, relax and tell me, are you interested? Or are you confused because it is all confusing? Are you tired? Fascinated? Maybe you are worried? Maybe it is all annoying to you and you are feeling annoyed?
I hope you are not too bored, too bored with that. And oh gosh, please don't say you are disappointed, disappointed. Enjoy the weekend!
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Oh, free time, finally, finally, some free time. Ah, but imagine this, imagine you are lying in bed and you are at a hospital. How fun is that? How fun is that? Not really, not really. Well, we all know that. But, you do want to get better, so you need to stay there, for some time, some time.
I'm sure you are very worried, worried about your health and what is going to happen. That's okay. And I'm sure you will get better eventually. And in the meantime, in the meantime, you can use this time. Hmm, is that three time, really? When you are in hospital?
I wouldn't say that. But still, it is very, very different and you don't need to go anywhere. Well, you can't go anywhere. So, in that case, in that case, so in this situation, in that case, you can do quite a lot, quite a lot to keep yourself busy and hopefully, hopefully, so I hope, hopefully, make your stay a little fun.
Hmm, let me think. So what can you do? What can you do? Hey, what did you do at a hospital? Well, I slept finally. I could sleep all day long, all day long. Yeah, you can do that, obviously. You need to sleep. Well, I need to sleep too. Oh my.
Or, let's go to oldschool here, oldschool. How about reading a book, reading a book or a magazine? How about that? If not, obviously, you can watch a series, a movie, a video, a tiktok. Yeah, lots, lots of tiktoks. Okay, that is pretty obvious.
And me, for example, I would spend a lot of time listening to podcasts. Maybe finding some new ones, finding some new ones or catching up on, catching up on the old ones, so, listening to the ones that I didn't have time to listen to before. Yeah. Free time. You have all the free time in the world right now.
You could also talk to your friends on the phone, so call your friends and family to catch up. Again, catch up, because you didn't have time to do that before. So now that you are at a hospital, why don't you do it now? Hey, how have you been? How have you been? What's up? How's the family and the dog? Yeah, do that.
If not, maybe a game. Yeah, let's find you a game of Sudoku. Oh, a crossword puzzle, crossword puzzle. Hmm, maybe in English. Oh, speaking of languages. No excuses right now. No excuses. You have all the time in the world to do some learning, to do some studying. Yeah, you might think you were a little behind, so you didn't do enough work. So now is the best time to do that. Yeah, at a hospital, exactly.
And then do some shopping, online shopping. Oh yeah, that's a fun activity. Maybe some clothes or something for the house. Yeah, plan how to redecorate your house. How about that? Yeah, not a bad idea, actually. Not a bad idea.
Okay, what else? Hmm, okay, maybe limit the social media for some time. And hey, you are into painting, right? So you like it, you like it, you like painting, you are into painting, or drawing. I think that's possible in a hospital bed, is it?
You could also try and find a nice tutorial. So a little video to help you learn something new about painting, but maybe some other cool stuff, like playing an instrument. Well, you will not learn that at a hospital, but that's a nice start, that's a nice start.
You will take up, take up something new. So start doing something new that you might like. Who knows, maybe this is something that you always wanted to do, like photography or gardening, DIY, like making new furniture by yourself.
Or maybe finally you just want to have some peace and quiet, have some rest.
Get some rest, and you will get better in no time.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Luke Likes 'Listen'
Hey, do you know what I realized? What I realized just now Well, that pretty much all the time, okay, not all the time, most of the time, so pretty much most of the time, every day, during the day, in the morning, in the evening I listen to stuff. I use my headphones for that. Oh, it depends, it depends, so whatever the situation is, it depends.
Anyway, I listen to a lot of, a lot of stuff. Now, this is mostly podcasts in different languages. And different reasons so why I listen to them, reasons, but it used to be, it used to be a little different because that used to be mostly music.
Yeah, I realized that it changed a little. And I am wondering if this is because of me, because I changed or because, well, the situation changed and the times changed as well. But whatever the reason, whatever it is, I still like music. Come on, who doesn't?
And today, for example, I just remember it how much fun it is. How much fun it is to listen to some music you enjoy and, and, and this is really, really fun to explore, explore new music. I just love this feeling when you can find something totally, completely new. And you can't get enough of that. You just keep coming back and listen to that over and over again.
I used to do that a lot when I was a teenager and later on in my life. And I remember back then, back then, I didn't need much more than that.Really, just me and my music. That was it. And now, okay, I don't want to say that. I don't have enough time for music. That just..., no, I will not say that. Now I just choose to listen to podcasts more than music.
And when do I listen to music? Well, definitely when I do sports. I put on my earbuds and off we go. It makes the experience much, much more enjoyable this way. Enjoyable, so a lot of fun, enjoyable. Well, and I do not need to say that it gives a lot of energy. And I feel more motivated, motivated, yes, I do have motivation to keep going, just keep going. And obviously, this is more of an energetic upbeat, energetic upbeat, so quite fast music.
Which, by the way, I do not listen to, I do not listen to when I'm not doing sports. So my playlist, so the list of music I listen to is a little misleading, misleading. So when you say that something is misleading, it gives you a wrong impression, misleading. Because this is just a part of me, and we could say just a part of me that needs this kind of music. Rock music, for example, not so much pop music.
Otherwise, so if it isn't this or that, otherwise, it is much, much calmer. And my family used to say melancholic, that's a cool word, melancholic. Well, that's just sad music, let's say, sad. Not sad, but just feeling sad, in a way, in a way. And what is the best way to sound like that, to sound melancholic? Yeah, that's the piano, that's the piano, beautiful, beautiful sound.
So this is what I'm going to do tonight, just me and my music.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

So again, again - Do I want to do it? Do I want to do it? Or do I like? Do I like doing it? Want to/Like. Obviously, I like doing it. We will see. Let's go.
I like studying languages. I like studying, studying languages. And I love studying languages. And I enjoy studying languages. All of that. No surprises here.
So, I like studying, I love studying, and I enjoy studying languages. Well, I enjoy doing other things too. And I love other things too, like I love playing with my dog. Yeah, let's leave it at that.
But also, I hate doing a lot of things. Oh, the list can be very long here. I hate doing paperwork. I hate doing paperwork. It means I hate doing all the office work and documents, things like that. And I can't stand, I can't stand. Oh, I know. I can't stand waking up early morning. I can't stand doing that. Yuck. And I prefer, I prefer waking up a little later.
So, I hate doing paperwork. I can't stand waking up early. And I prefer waking up a little later. But still, in the morning. Well, I'm a hater here. Whatever.
And now, I started. I started learning. I started learning a new language. Portuguese. So great. And I stopped, I stopped worrying. I stopped worrying about everything. That's not true. Yeah, I would like that. And I spend, I spend too much time. I spend too much time... Sometimes I spend too much time deciding, deciding what to buy. So I spend too much time deciding what to buy. Actually, I do. I hate this.
So, I started learning a new language. I stopped worrying too much. And I spend too much time deciding what to buy.
Just three more to go, okay? Three more. Oh, I'm not very good. I'm not very good at, I'm not very good at playing tennis. I'm not very good at playing tennis. But I keep doing that. I keep playing. I keep playing regularly. Yeah, I don't give up. I just keep playing. And how about, how about, or what about? So, oh, how about playing tennis today? How about playing tennis today? What do you think? What do you think? How about, how about playing? Yeah, sounds good. Sounds really, really good.
So, I'm not very good at playing. But I keep doing that. How about playing with me today? How about playing with me?
Okay, so time for a recap.
I like studying and I enjoy studying and I love studying languages. But I hate doing paperwork and I can't stand waking up in the morning, early morning, and I prefer waking up a little later.
And now I started learning a new language. I stopped worrying, worrying too much. And, oh, I spend too much time deciding what to buy.
And finally, I'm not very good at playing tennis. But I keep doing that. So, how about joining me? How about playing with me? And maybe teaching, teaching how to be better at that?
Well, I have to say, I have to say, it's really not the point. I'm just having lots of, lots of fun. Have fun learning new things.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Summer time. Summer time is great. That's a great, great time. And it is even better when you get to have some free time for yourself. Well, not everyone can have it, unfortunately. But still, still, it is an awesome, fantastic time.
How do you spend that time? I'm sure you are travelling, get to know new places, and get to do new things. Oh, that's nice - try and experience, experience. So in English, when you say you experience new things, you, well, you just do them, maybe for the first time, and you will remember what it is like to do it and try it. Pretty cool. Good for you, good for you.
And me? Well, I have my sports. Yeah! So if someone asked you, 'what would you do if you had some free time? What would you do then?' Would you meet your friends? Maybe. Would you travel? Yeah, definitely. Would you get some rest and watch something? Maybe go out and see people. Yeah, all of them are great ideas. I'm sure.
But me? I do sports. Well, and languages. I am crazy about that too. Today, for example, I got to play basketball. About two hours, two hours, outdoors, and that was amazing. I felt really good. Now I feel tired, but at the same time, I feel happy because this is what I get from basketball.
And I used to, used to play volleyball as well, volleyball. It is not very popular in every part of the world, but some countries play volleyball a lot, quite a lot. And this is a lot of fun. Yeah, I used to play on a team at school, but I had to choose between basketball and volleyball. That was just too much. But then I also played with my friends, very regularly, regularly. Oh, wow, that's a difficult word to say in English. Rregularly. So I did, and I still would like to do that.
What else? I need to tell you that all my family is a little crazy about sport. So they are all runners. For example, my younger brother and my older sister are right now actually at a runners' camp in the mountains. Imagine that! And they get to run pretty much all the time, I suppose. But from what they tell me, this is a morning practice and an evening practice.
And in between, there are some sessions, meetings and workshops, so the time when they instruct them, how to get better at the technique, technique. And believe me or not, there is a lot of technique involved, involved, so about it. yeah, involved, a lot of technique.
Yeah, and my older brother used to swim a lot. He used to be a swimmer, and he took part, he took part in competitions, sports competitions, at school, at school, obviously. And he rides a bike a lot, he runs as well. Like my father, my mum is also very active, and my cousins, all of them. So it is very natural, natural for me to do sports.
Oh, and obviously I love tennis. It is just amazing. And at the same time, very frustrating, frustrating. Do you know this feeling, to feel frustrated? I'm sure you do. When something doesn't go your way, you feel frustrated. This is what tennis gives me a lot. But from time to time, it is also fun.
Hmm, what else, what else? Walking is a great sport. Well, maybe not a sport, but a great, great activity. And going to the gym. Oh, a lot of people do that. Yeah, and I do that myself. I quite like it, but it is more of a routine for me.
Yeah, and there is a lot, a lot, a lot more sports. Ooh, windsurfing, cool. Football, hmm, yeah, why not? Oh, handball, that's a team sport, handball. Oh, and yoga. Yeah, this is so, so good for your body.
Hmm, like all the sports. Do sport. Good for your body.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

It's summer time. It is summer at last. Well, not at last, but it's the middle of July right now. The middle of, the middle of July. So it must be summer, it must be summer time, at least in this part of the world, in this part of the world, of course.
And here is a question: What is summer best for? What is summer best for? Is it best for holidays? Yeah, sure it is, but not that. Is it best because you have a lot of rest? Yeah, a little bit, yeah, but not that. Oh, I know, I know. It is best because you get plenty of sun. Yeah, we do like the sun, but no, it's not that.
It is best because you get to do, so you have a chance to do. you get to do whatever you like, whatever you like. This is at least how I see it, so this is my opinion, I think so. I see it this way. And to be honest, I see it every year with me. And I ask myself, what do I like?
And I like languages. You just must know it by now. But what I noticed, so I saw it, I noticed, is that somewhere around summertime, every year, I get this new energy to listen, read, talk, and explore so that I can't get enough of that, I cannot get enough. Oh, I love this feeling.
Especially when I get to explore something new. And surprise, surprise, not a surprise for me, this happens regularly, I must say. So here is what happened actually.
So the other day, the other day, which in English means not long time ago, a few days ago, so the other day, I was talking to one of my students and her family lives in Portugal. And very often, actually, we were wondering, 'Hmm, how do you say this in Portuguese?' Or 'Hmm, what is this in Portuguese?' 'How do you say that in Portuguese?'
I think you know what happened next. Aha, Portuguese happened. Now I want to know everything about it. To read, to listen, to understand, to be able to say a few words, a few sentences. To know 'What is this in Portuguese?', 'What is that in Portuguese?'
And the fact that we can do that together makes it so much fun and much, much easier. So we use some materials, apps and obviously podcasts, which is an amazing help. So we focus, focus on listening and, well, trying to figure out, which means to understand, try and understand, to figure out what it really means and how it really works.
Yeah. And you know what? I have no idea where this is going. I have no idea. And people often keep asking me, so ask me a lot, a lot, keep asking me, in general about languages, but for example, Portuguese, 'Hey, Luke, you're learning Portuguese, right? Why are you doing that? Do you want to go there?' Hmm, maybe. But I'm not planning to. 'Maybe you want to work there?' Hmm, not really. I'm not thinking of that at the moment. 'So why on earth would you do that? Why on earth would you learn it?'
And I don't really know what to say and how to react because the answer is so obvious to me. The goal is not to go there or to work there or even to be able to speak fluently, fluently, so speak very well. I realized, I realized that the goal is something different.
Learning and exploring. That is the goal. That is the goal. And why? For one thing, it makes me happy, but it is also because I'm obsessed. And I'm a maniac. And I love it.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!
