Warlock (1989)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris perform an incantation and discuss the cult classic Warlock, which is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its domestic theatrical release this weekend. Basically a horror/supernatural The Terminator, the late Julian Sands stars as The Warlock, who escapes imprisonment in 1691 Boston and ends up in 1991 Los Angeles.  Tasked by Satan himself to find the scattered parts of The Grand Grimoire, The Warlock seeks to undo creation.  Following The Warlock to the future is witch-hunter Giles Redferne (Richard E. Grant), who teams up with waitress Kassandra (Lori Singer) to stop The Warlock.  Zach and Chris discuss how little culture shock both Redferne and The Warlock have in the future, using young boy fat to fly, a weathervane being the most effective weapon against The Warlock, the terrible special effects, and more. You can watch Warlock on Prime Video and Tubi.  Next week, we're getting caught in a time loop and discussing Edge of Tomorrow because an anime adaptation of All You Need is Kill is hitting theaters. We want to hear your comments and feedback.  Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com.  Also, let us know your suggestions for movies for us to discuss. Best and Worst Movies of 2025
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris close out 2025 with a massive recap of their picks for the best and worst movies of the year.  Between Weapons, Sinners, Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, KPop Demon Hunters, Friendship, and more, there were plenty of great movies that hit theaters and streaming, while films like The Electric State, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, and M3GAN 2.0 were massive disappointments or outright bad.  Zach and Chris ranked their Top 10 Best and Top 5 Worst movies of the year.  Listen and let us know what your picks are. Everything Action Commentary: Home Alone: The Holiday Heist
For the final Everything Action Commentary of 2025, Zach and Chris are joined by special guests Joe and Sam to finish the holiday tradition of watching every Home Alone movie with the 2012 TV movie, Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. This time, instead of the McCallisters, the Baxter family moves from California to Maine shortly before Christmas.  Unknown to the family, however, is that their new home hides a priceless painting in a hidden vault in the basement, which is the target of veteran thief Sinclair (Malcolm McDowell) and his accomplices Jessica (Debi Mazar) and Hughes (Eddie Steeples).  When their parents go to attend a Christmas party, Finn (Christian Martyn) and his sister Alexis (Jodelle Ferland) are left Home Alone, and Finn has to devise the traps to stop the thieves when Alexis is locked in the basement.  While watching the film, the guys discuss whether Malcolm McDowell breaks his foot off-screen, the fake video game played throughout, whether the movie is a pioneer in swatting someone, drunk Ed Asner, the movie's hint at a supernatural element, and more. You can watch Home Alone: The Holiday Heist on Disney+ and sync it up with our commentary track to watch along. Heat (1995)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris plan to take down some scores and discuss 1995's Heat, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Based on his earlier TV movie L.A. Takedown [https://everythingaction.com/2025/12/18/everything-action-theater-l-a-takedown-1989/], Michael Mann's Heat is a crime/heist classic that has inspired countless films and video games since.  Robert De Niro plays criminal Neil McCauley, who leads a group of professional thieves taking down scores in Los Angeles.  At the same time, Al Pacino plays Detective Vincent Hanna, the cop pursuing Neil and his gang.  Both men are focused on their chosen profession at the expense of everything else, including their personal relationships, and a face-off between them is inevitable.  Zach and Chris discuss why Neil would allow a psycho like Waingro (Kevin Gage) on his crew, the cast full of recognizable faces, Pacino outbursts, the epic bank shootout, and more. You can watch Heat on Paramount+.  Next week, Zach and Chris are closing out 2025 by running down their favorite and least favorite movies of the year. Anaconda (1997)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris head into the Amazon and discuss 1997's Anaconda, which just received a 4K release, and the new meta reboot is coming out on Christmas. A documentary crew heads down the Amazon to try and find a fabled lost tribe, but gets hijacked by snake poacher Paul Serone (Jon Voight), who forces the crew to help him hunt down a massive, record-breaking anaconda.  The giant snake has other ideas and starts attacking and eating the crew in increasingly ridiculous ways.  Zach and Chris discuss who would pay $1 million for a massive anaconda, hiding a giant poisonous wasp in a scuba tank, the mechanical snake going haywire and nearly injuring everyone on set, the anaconda's ninja-like speed, and more. You can watch Anaconda on Netflix.  Next week, we're pulling a heist with Heat, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Freddy's Fridays (2023)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, with Five Nights at Freddy's 2 hitting theaters, Zach and Chris dive into one of FNAF's knockoffs, 2023's Freddy's Fridays. Coming from some of the same team behind the Winnie the Pooh: Blood Honey series, Freddy's Fridays finds a man named Todd Fischer (Jase Rivers) luring sex workers into a creepy murder basement and then forcing them to read Latin text, which summons Freddy (Abu Barry) and his gang of monsters to kill them.  Todd made a deal with Freddy for financial gain, but the cost is nine souls, each sacrificed on a Friday.  The only person seemingly investigating is police officer Lila Jones (Danielle Scott), who eventually goes undercover to find out what's happening to all the missing women.  Zach and Chris discuss whether Freddy and his gang are demons or animatronics, how Todd found his murder warehouse, why Lila's influencer flatmate is a better investigator than the actual police, why Freddy starts breaking his own rules, and more. You can watch Freddy's Fridays on Tubi or The Roku Channel.  Next week, we're heading into the Amazon to revisit Anaconda as the meta remake is coming out later this month, and the original is getting a new 4K release. Rocky IV (1985)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris enter the ring for Rocky IV, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Written and directed by Stallone, Rocky IV sees Rocky Balboa living large as the reigning heavyweight boxing champion.  When the Soviet Union introduces its new contender, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), they want to have an exhibition match with Rocky.  Rocky declines, but Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) accepts instead.  The match begins as a joke but ends in tragedy as Apollo is killed in the ring.  Rocky travels to the Soviet Union for a grudge match against Drago to avenge Apollo's death.  Zach and Chris discuss the movie's killer soundtrack, Paulie reprogramming a sophisticated robot, high-tech vs old-school training, everyone's no-blocking boxing technique, and more. You can rent Rocky IV on services like Amazon, Google, and Apple.  Next week, we're getting ready for Five Nights at Freddy's 2 with one of its knock-offs, 2023's Freddy's Fridays. Everything Action Commentary: Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009)
For the latest Everything Action Commentary, Zach and Chris celebrate Thanksgiving/Black Friday with 2009's Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Kevin James is Paul Blart, a mall security guard with dreams of being a police officer, despite failing out of the academy.  On the busy Black Friday shopping day, armed criminals storm the mall with a scheme to rob millions in credit card funds and take several of the mall employees hostage.  While the police surround the mall outside, Paul is the only person not capture inside and gets the chance to save the day and impress the girl of his dreams.  While watching the movie, Zach and Chris discuss how New Jersey it is, Paul seeming like he's on ecstasy while drunk, how many wigs Jayma Mays wears at the same time, why all the criminals are extreme sports athletes and more. Robot Jox (1990)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris climb into some mech cockpits and discuss 1990's Robot Jox, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. One of the final films from Charles Band's Empire Pictures, Robot Jox is set in a world that was devastated by a nuclear war 50 years earlier.  All conflicts between the two factions that control Earth, The Market and The Confederation, are now done via one on one competitions between giant mechs piloted by robot jox.  Achilles (Gary Graham) is the main jox for The Market while the bloodthirsty Alexander (Paul Koslo) is the jox for The Confederation.  They face off to determine which faction will gain control of Alaska and it's valuable resources.  Zach and Chris discuss the interesting world building on the fringes of the movie, how there should be some more safeguards to stop the mech matches, how it may have influenced things like G Gundam and Pacific Rim, the bizarre jox training exercises and more. You can watch Robot Jox on Tubi.  Next week, we enter the ring with Rocky and discuss Rocky IV for its 40th anniversary. The Running Man (1987)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris tune into everyone's favorite dystopian game show, The Running Man, as the new Edgar Wright-directed take on the Stephen King novel hits theaters. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Ben Richards, who is wrongfully imprisoned when he refuses to fire on unarmed civilians during a food riot and is dubbed "The Butcher of Bakersfield" when the footage is doctored to make it seem like he killed numerous civilians.  Escaping prison, Richards is recaptured and forced to be a contestant on The Running Man, a game show hosted by the devious Damon Killian (Richard Dawson), where "Runners" must try to escape from the top killers called "Stalkers."  Zach and Chris discuss how great Richard Dawson is in basically his only major film role, the practicality of fighting in full hockey goalie pads like Sub-Zero (Professor Toru Tanaka), Mick Fleetwood possibly playing himself, the nonsensical Arnold one-liners, and more. You can watch The Running Man on Paramount+.  Next week, we're discussing another dystopian competition with Robot Jox, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris celebrate Halloween with the final (at the time) Jigsaw game, Saw 3D, which came out 15 years ago this week. Wrapping up the original Saw series, Saw 3D, aka Saw: The Final Chapter, finds Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) trying to kill Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) to clear up any loose ends so he can escape before he's arrested as the new Jigsaw Killer.  He takes time to set up one final game, this time involving Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a self-help author who has lied about being a victim of the Jigsaw Killer and is now put through the traps for real.  Zach and Chris discuss why Hoffman keeps making games when he wants to escape, the best traps in the movie, how all the side actors feel distinctly Canadian, John's (Tobin Bell) backward baseball cap disguise, the big reveal of who the ultra-secret Jigsaw apprentice is, and more. Motel Hell (1980)
This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris check into Motel Hell to discuss the 1980 cult horror comedy for its 45th anniversary. Rory Calhoun stars as Vincent Smith, a genial-seeming farmer and hotel proprietor famous in his area for his various meat products. What no one knows is that Vincent and his sister Ida (Nancy Parsons) are kidnapping and butchering people as the secret ingredient in their meats. After attacking a couple on a motorcycle, Vincent decides to take in Terry (Nina Axelrod) and nurse her back to health, much to Ida's annoyance. Gradually, Terry falls for the laid-back country lifestyle and Vincent's seemingly honest, homespun personality. Zach and Chris discuss Vincent's love of traps and how the hotel should have incorporated them, the process of turning humans into smoked meats, chainsaw duels, Hickory Farms gift boxes, a young John Ratzenberger, and more.
