This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Andy and Dana welcome Connor back to the show to discuss the 1977 sci-fi masterpiece Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  Jason couldn't make this one due to Covid (remember Covid?) but wanted us to carry on without him.  In this Speilberg classic, the dude from Jaws sees UFOs and totally goes off the deep in in pursuit of them.  Mrs Mr Mom is his not very understand wife and Ralphie's mom is there to pick up the pieces.  We all know the music, and you probably already know if you like this one or not, but we dive deep into all the fun facts that made this movie a blockbuster in 1977 and allowed a directors cut in 1980 which cut out the famous scene of Roy collecting material to build his own Devil's Tower.   Bad cut Steven!  Enjoy the pod.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason and Andy welcome Jim and Dan back on the show to discuss the 1985 sports flick Rocky IV.  In this installment of the franchise, Rocky travels to Russia to fight the immovable object that is Drago, a Soviet monster of a man, all in the name of avenging Apollo Creed's death. You would think that by the fourth installment of this franchise it would be getting just a bit stale, but the whole Cold War of it all, along with about five Survivor music videos/montages keeps this one moving along at a brisk pace as we wait for Rocky to bring about global peace by the end.  Putin is seen briefly off to the right of Gorbachev planning to end all the niceties in a few years.   Enjoy global harmony while it lasts.  And enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason and Andy welcome Doug back on the show to discuss the 1985 action flick The Jewel of the Nile.  That's right, Dana couldn't make on for this one, probably because she got ill while watching it.  Kathleen Turner read this script and said "Nope".  They then threatened to sue her and she said "If I have to...".  Danny DeVito brings all the energy you would expect from him, and is truly the only reason to watch this moive.  Michael Douglas is fine, I guess.  Honestly who cares.  This movie is a sequel to Romancing the Stone, which shows how bad this movie is.  It killed the franchise.  Don't watch this movie, but enjoy the podcast!
