Fasting and Prayer

🎙️ Show Notes

Series: Fasting and Prayer

Fasting is meant to draw us closer to God—not push us into fear, guilt, or physical collapse. In this anchor episode of the Fasting and Prayer series, we explore a compassionate, Spirit-led approach to discernment when a fast feels heavy, confusing, or unsustainable.

This episode invites you into prayerful evaluation—not judgment—and reminds you that obedience is rooted in surrender, not self-punishment.

In This Episode, We Explore:

  • Why shifting a fast is not the same as quitting
  • How to discern whether your fast is drawing you toward God or distracting you from Him
  • The difference between discipline rooted in striving and obedience rooted in surrender
  • Why God often prioritizes sustainability over suffering, especially for those called into leadership, ministry, and mental health spaces

Five Discernment Questions for Shifting a Fast:

  1. Is my body becoming a distraction instead of a vessel?
  2. Am I fasting to prove discipline or to hear God?
  3. Is this fast producing spiritual fruit or spiritual pressure?
  4. Is God inviting me into sustainability, not sacrifice alone?
  5. Does shifting allow me to continue fasting with integrity?

✨ Shifting is not failure. Refinement is not disobedience.

This episode is especially for those who love God deeply but feel worn down by rigid spiritual expectations. Let this be an invitation back into peace, clarity, and grace.

This is not a judgment conversation — it’s a clarity conversation.

We discuss how marijuana can be used intentionally to enhance relaxation, creativity, and self-care… and how it can also become a quiet crutch that disconnects you from your purpose, productivity, and spiritual grounding.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode

✨ How cannabis can support or disrupt your emotional, mental, and spiritual health

✨ Key signs of mindful use vs. avoidance-driven use

✨ A step-by-step plan for reducing or resetting your marijuana habits

✨ How to replace the ritual with spiritually aligned grounding practices

✨ Reflective questions to help you build a healthier relationship with cannabis

⸻

Reflection Questions from the Episode

1. Do I feel more present or more checked out after using cannabis?

2. Is this an intentional choice or an automatic habit?
