Florida Coast Church (PCA) - Pompano Beach, Florida - Praising, Learning, Loving
In a series of events that recall important Old Testament stories, God delivered James THROUGH death, delivered Peter FROM death, and handed Herod over TO death.
Through two visions, two visits, and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, Peter learned that Christ's work removed the barriers between Jews and Gentiles so they can be members of one church.
-Jesus revealed himself to the persecutor Saul of Tarsus and called him to faith and to ministry as his chosen instrument to take his name to the nations.
The religious leaders arrested Peter and Jon, but could not resist the force of their testimony about Jesus’ death and resurrection, which provide the only way of salvation.
After the Lord healed a man lame from birth, Peter announced the gospel to the crowd along with the promised blessings for those who would repent of their rejection of Jesus and believe in him.
In the second part of his sermon, Peter emphasized that God raised Jesus from the dead so that even those who had a part in his death could be forgiven and receive the Holy Spirit.
In Peter’s first of eleven speeches in Acts, he showed how Judas needed to replaced with another apostle so that the remade Israel would be complete and ready to be a witness to the nations.
In his second volume, Luke revealed that the promise of the Father would be the baptism in the Holy Spirit to empower Jesus’ followers to be witnesses to the ends of the Earth.
On the first resurrection day, Jesus’ own disciples believed that he was raised as they remembered his words, understood the Scriptures, and broke bread together.
