Nl: Buiten lag er een dikke laag sneeuw en de lampjes van de kerstversieringen schitterden door de ramen.
En: Outside, there was a thick layer of snow, and the lights from the Christmas decorations shimmered through the windows.

Nl: Binnen zat Maarten, een Nederlandse uitwisselingsstudent, in een warme, gezellige woonkamer.
En: Inside, Maarten, a Dutch exchange student, sat in a warm, cozy living room.

Nl: Zijn laptop stond voor hem op een kleine tafel en hij keek naar het scherm.
En: His laptop was in front of him on a small table, and he looked at the screen.

Nl: Hij miste Amsterdam en vooral zijn vriendin Sofie.
En: He missed Amsterdam and especially his girlfriend Sofie.

Nl: Maarten was nerveus.
