No: Snøen falt tungt over den lille bygda i Nord-Sápmi.
En: The snow fell heavily over the small village in Nord-Sápmi.

No: Himlen var mørk, dekket av tykke skyer, men av og til kunne man se nordlyset danse.
En: The sky was dark, covered by thick clouds, but occasionally one could see the northern lights dancing.

No: Folk i bygda visste at vinteren var streng her.
En: The people in the village knew that winter was harsh here.

No: Hver vinter hadde sine utfordringer.
En: Every winter had its challenges.

No: Sven, reingjeteren, sto i døra til gammen sin.
En: Sven, the reindeer herder, stood in the doorway of his gammen.

No: Snøen blåste inn mot ham, og han lukket døren fort.
En: The snow blew towards him, and he quickly closed the door.

No: Han kikket bort på sitt lille bål som knivet mot kulden.
En: He glanced over at his small fire struggling against the cold.
