Story Transcript:

No: Snøen lå som et mykt, tykt teppe over Oslos nabolag, og de varme lysene fra husene skinte gjennom vintermørket.
En: The snow lay like a soft, thick blanket over Oslo's neighborhoods, and the warm lights from the houses shone through the winter darkness.

No: Nils pakket ivrig skiene inn i bilen, mens Kari sjekket kartet for veien til hytta.
En: Nils eagerly packed the skis into the car, while Kari checked the map for the way to the cabin.

En: It was the start of a new year, and both were ready for a break from the hectic holiday days.

No: "Jeg trenger fjellets stillhet," sa Nils med et glimt i øyet.
En: "I need the silence of the mountains," said Nils with a glint in his eye.

No: "Luften der oppe renser sjelen.
En: "The air up there cleanses the soul."

No: "Kari nikket, men skulte forsiktig mot himmelen.
En: Kari nodded but cautiously glanced at the sky.

No: Værmeldingen hadde nevnt tungt snøfall.
En: The weather forecast had mentioned heavy snowfall.

En: "Are you sure it's safe, Nils?"

No: " spurte hun, alltid den forsiktige av dem.
En: she asked, always the cautious one of them.

No: "Vi klarer det," sa Nils overbevisende.
En: "We can handle it," said Nils convincingly.

No: "Vi trenger bare å være forsiktige.
En: "We just need to be careful."

En: Then they got into the car and drove towards the mountains.

En: The road was quiet, the trees covered with snow that glittered in the faint morning light.

No: Kari lurte på hva fjellet ville bringe.
En: Kari wondered what the mountain would bring.

En: She wished for something new, something that could break the routine she felt trapped in.

En: As they moved higher, the snow began to fall more densely.

No: Veien ble stadig mer vanskelig å se.
En: The road became increasingly difficult to see.

No: Kari strammet grepet om kartet.
En: Kari tightened her grip on the map.

No: "Jeg vet ikke, Nils.
En: "I don't know, Nils.

No: Dette ser ikke bra ut.
En: This doesn't look good."

No: "Nils bremset, men insisterte, "Bare litt til, Kari.
En: Nils slowed down but insisted, "Just a little further, Kari.

No: Vi kommer fram snart.
En: We'll be there soon."

En: The snowstorm grew stronger, and the car started to lose grip on the road.

No: De stoppet.
En: They stopped.

No: Foran dem var alt hvitt.
En: In front of them, everything was white.

En: Kari looked at Nils with worried eyes.

No: "Hva gjør vi nå?
En: "What do we do now?"
