Story Transcript:

En: On a chilly morning in late autumn, when the leaves in the Botanical Garden of Moscow were painted in bright shades of orange and brown, Victor stood by the pond.

En: The cold wind played with the bare branches of the trees, rustling underfoot.

En: Behind him, Anna was awkwardly huffing.

En: She glanced at the other side of the pond where tourists crowded, taking photos.

Ru: "Где он?
En: "Where is he?"

Ru: " - вскрикнула Анна.
En: Anna exclaimed.

En: "Boris is somewhere here," replied Victor, peering into the water.

En: Boris, his turtle, had escaped from the terrarium while Victor was cleaning it.

En: Victor knew every path and corner of the garden.

En: Having worked here as a gardener for many years, he had learned all the inhabitants of the plant kingdom.

En: But his secret passion was reptiles.

En: Boris was his pride.

En: Suddenly, Misha, their mutual friend, ran up to them, pointing at the crowd of tourists.

En: "They think Boris is a rare species!"

En: The tourists chattered and took photographs as Boris swam importantly not far from the shore.

Ru: Виктор нахмурился.
En: Victor frowned.

En: If the tourists decided that Boris needed to be caught, it would complicate the rescue.

En: "What are we going to do, Victor?"

Ru: " - спросила Анна.
En: Anna asked.

En: Victor thought for a moment and then smiled.

En: "We'll distract them with something interesting.

Ru: Читайте.
En: Read."

En: He approached the crowd and said, "Do you see those big trees?

En: Those are Japanese maples.

En: They are very rare!

En: Right now, their leaves are the most beautiful!"

En: The tourists turned with interest.

En: Victor nodded to Anna and Misha to quietly sneak up to Boris.
